She had lived two lifetis in ancient tis, where indeed there were cases of poisoning in the backyards of the powerful, but she never expected that even in this day and age there would be such audacious people.

On further thought, if she hadn’t noticed her oddities and gotten a checkup, probably no one would have found out even after she kicked the bucket, especially since the poison used was a chemical substance.

And that person, fearing soone might discover the truth, deliberately made her emit a strange sll—it truly was a carefully crafted plot.

Ding Hongye took a long ti to recover, her eyes bloodshot, her voice choked: "Is there a cure?"

Yunyi nodded to her: "There is a cure, but it will take so ti."

Then she reminded her: "And rember, from today on, you must be careful not to eat anything that may have been tampered with."

Ding Hongye pondered for a while: "It should be that glass of milk every night, which she tampered with."

Yunyi didn’t ask who ’she’ was; after all, it was a personal matter.

But for so reason, Ding Hongye started to speak: "I ca with the ntality of treating a dead horse like a living horse, after all, the strange sll on my body even the hospital in the provincial capital couldn’t solve, I had already lost hope.

However, I inadvertently heard soone ntion you that day, and after struggling, I decided to co. I truly thank you, even if I can’t be cured, at least I won’t die in ignorance, mistaking my enemy as a benefactor."

Only then did Ding Hongye briefly explain her situation. Her biological mother was an accountant in a textile factory, sacrificed while saving the factory’s property; she was only eleven at that ti, and since she was her mother’s only child, the factory promised to keep her mother’s job position for her.

A year later, her father remarried. The new woman ca in with a daughter two years younger than her. For the next two years, her life was still relatively good, but as her stepmother got pregnant, she clearly felt that her position in the family was not what it used to be.

However, her stepmother was always good at managing appearances; in front of outsiders, she could almost be a model for all stepmothers, but when no one was around, she basically ignored her, leaving her unable to express her grievances. After all, if she spoke out, it needed to be believed.

After the stepmother bore a son, her standing in the family stabilized, making her even more displeased with her. Although, when her father was ho, she would still put on an act, but her words never matched her actions, and she was entirely disingenuous.

Even so, she sohow stumbled through to high school graduation, joined the factory, and took over her mother’s work. But after working for a little over a year, due to the strange sll on her body, she had to temporarily give up the job to the daughter her stepmother brought along. Initially, the stepsister expressed so gratitude verbally.

But three months later, once she gained a foothold in the textile factory’s finance departnt, she started saying things—relevant or not—to her, and the stepmother threw all the house chores at her, under the pretext that staying busy would prevent her from thinking nonsense.

Eventually, even her words implied that she should stay ho more or risk embarrassing the family and getting them involved in her humiliation.

Her father, at least, was still her biological parent and had always doted on her. Seeing her in this state, he was worried about her illness and took her multiple tis to the provincial capital, hoping to cure her condition.

But after several fruitless visits, due to the stepmother’s pillow talk, he finally gave up.

Though Yunyi listened for a long ti, she still didn’t quite understand; even if they disliked her, did it have to reach the point of poisoning her? They had raised her this far; couldn’t she still bring in a bride price when married off?
