At the Ye Family residence, Ye Wenyue returned ho but didn’t see her parents. She picked up the gifts she had bought for her grandfather and went to the old family house. "Grandpa, weren’t my parents on leave? Why aren’t they ho?"

Upon seeing his granddaughter enter, Elder Master Ye’s expression flickered for a mont, but he didn’t hide anything. "Yunyi is back; they’ve gone to the Chu Family."

Hearing this, Ye Wenyue felt a twinge of pain in her heart, but she quickly concealed it. She knew she shouldn’t feel this way, but she just couldn’t help it.

Ever since the baby-switching incident ca to light, she initially couldn’t accept it at all. She hid away in the cultural troupe for a long ti before returning. It was only after her adoptive parents sought her out and had a long talk with her that she gradually dared to face reality.

She had never lived with the family of the third branch. Frankly, she had always disliked her biological mother’s—her forr Third Aunt’s—way of doing things. After learning the truth, her resistance only grew stronger. So, just like Yunyi, she acknowledged the truth but didn’t want to move back with the third branch.

Whenever she returned ho, she proceeded as before, first visiting the main house, but now there was no room of her own there. Her adoptive parents had also told her that they owed Yunyi. Their actions were an attempt to compensate Yunyi, and they hoped she would understand.

She was quite heartbroken. However, she also understood that she had taken over Yunyi’s life and enjoyed the love ant for her. Indeed, she couldn’t keep clinging to what wasn’t hers. So, she had agreed. Because of this, her adoptive younger brother, Ye Wenyang, had argued fiercely with the family. He felt that since his biological sister, Yunyi, wasn’t returning to live with them, why couldn’t his cousin Wen Yue continue to stay in their house?

She felt a secret flicker of joy in her heart, knowing at least soone was on her side, but she also understood it wasn’t right.

Elder Master Ye had been observing his granddaughter’s expressions. Seeing that she quickly adjusted, he felt a sense of relief. "Co in and sit down," he said. "Have you visited your grandfather yet?"

Now that everything was out in the open, he had instructed Wen Yue to change how she addressed them. From now on, she was to call him ’Granduncle,’ while his second younger brother living in the courtyard next door, Second Elder Master Ye, was her biological grandfather.

Ye Wenyue quickly responded, "Not yet, I’ll go over in a bit."

Placing one of the boxes of pastries she had brought on the table, she took a deep breath but still couldn’t bring herself to say ’Granduncle.’ "I’ll go see my grandfather," she said. "I’ll be back later."

She fled the room. She knew in her heart that her granduncle was probably deliberately reminding her, as she had called him ’Grandpa’ when she first ca in.

After stepping out of the courtyard, she stood outside for a long ti before finally calming herself. Carrying the pastries, she entered the adjoining courtyard. She glanced into the living room from the doorway, ntally preparing herself before finally calling out to the elderly man listening to the radio, "Grandpa."

Second Elder Master Ye heard the call and looked up towards the doorway. When he saw it was Wen Yue, he smiled and waved her in. "Co in, quick." As she entered, he asked, "Are you back from a performance?"

Ye Wenyue smiled shyly. "Mm, I got back yesterday. I have two days off, so I ca ho."

Second Elder Master Ye tentatively asked, "Have you been to your parents’ place yet?"

Wen Yue was montarily taken aback. Then she understood: Grandpa’s reference to her parents was likely about those in the third branch. She felt sowhat downcast. "Not yet, I’ll head over later." Rembering sothing, she quickly added, "Grandpa, I’ll stay and keep you company at the old house tonight; you won’t send away, will you?"

Seeing Wen Yue’s pleading expression, Second Elder Master Ye felt a pang of sorrow in his heart. This child has really suffered.

Previously, the entire Ye Family had sat down together to discuss the affairs of Wen Yue, Wenjuan, and the child Yunyi. The decision was for everyone to return to their respective biological hos and families. But everyone in the family knew the temperant of Wenyue’s biological mother; she was not a pleasant person. It was understandable that Wen Yue didn’t want to return to that ho. "Alright," Second Elder Master Ye said, "you can stay here and keep company. I’d be delighted."

Ye Wenyue breathed a sigh of relief at her grandfather’s words. She genuinely didn’t want to move back to the third branch. Her biological mother, who had previously been her Third Aunt, had often been unable to stand how the main house pampered her and had frequently made critical remarks whenever they t.

Just as she relaxed, Second Elder Master Ye spoke earnestly, "Wen Yue, now that matters are settled, you should still try to accept her. After all, she is your biological mother."

Ye Wenyue didn’t object but nodded. "I know."
