Perhaps due to the cold, Zhen Yu still went to bed early on Sunday night.
This led to her getting up early again on Monday. Mrs. Zhen didn’t bother with this energetic girl and just turned over to continue sleeping.
After all, it wasn’t a weekend and custors were few, so running a shoe shop, she didn’t need to clock in at specific tis like office workers. No rush for her!
Zhen Yu, swift with her hands and feet, managed to prepare breakfast and lunch by barely half-past six.
After summoning her brother to have breakfast, the two siblings headed to school.
Zhen Yan dared not complain, for his sister was currently an injured patient, the one in charge of his food, thus he had to indulge her.
They were stunned as soon as they turned the corner at Fangshan; which classmate had set the classroom on fire?
Wow, thick black smoke rolled out of the classroom door as if it was free.
The Zhen siblings walked faster to get closer, only then they realized the smoke was coming from Zhen Yu’s classroom—Junior High School First Class.
After exchanging a glance, Zhen Yu quickly slung her backpack onto her brother, "I’m going to check it out!"
Zhen Yan imdiately grabbed his sister with his free hand, "What did we tell you at ho over the weekend?!"
Zhen Yu was not one for selfless devotion, her ’check it out’ really just ant to take a look.
Only after patiently explaining to her brother did Zhen Yan agree to let her go, but she was only allowed to peek at the doorway to see what was happening inside.
As Zhen Yu crouched and approached the classroom door, a bout of coughing could be heard from inside, a girl’s coughing.
Zhen Yu squatted down and stretched her neck to look inside, spotting a figure in front of the stove, fiddling and coughing.
"Hey~~ are you sending up smoke signals?"
The girl, hearing soone talk, turned her head ’whoosh’ around.
Despite Zhen Yu being rather mature for her age, she was startled at that mont too; was this little black chimpanzee her classmate?
"Zhen Yu~" The little black chimpanzee cried out, perhaps having finally spotted a live person in the not-so-bright sky, she ran towards her at full speed.
Zhen Yu had no intention of letting her get close and swiftly turned to run back to her brother.
Her cotton coat had just been washed by Mrs. Zhen over the weekend; once soaked, it gets terribly heavy!
It had to be wrung dry and spread out on the heated brick bed to dry; washing clothes was not easy for Mrs. Zhen in the dead of winter!
"How did it go?"
"There’s a girl firing up the stove~"
"I’ll go!" Zhen Yan was astounded; was this called firing up the stove or the whole building?
The girl ran out of the classroom, heading straight towards them.
Zhen Yu imdiately shouted, "Stop!"
The girl obediently stopped and introduced herself, "Zhen Yu~ it’s , Wang Ping~"
"Don’t co any closer! Stay there and talk! Didn’t the duty teacher help you light it?"
Zhen Yu, in a mont of candidness, inadvertently spoke her mind.
As soon as her voice fell, an eerie silence fell over the scene.
Zhen Yu awkwardly asked again, "Uh~ well, what I an is, didn’t he help you light the stove?"
Wang Ping softly said, "No one ca to help , I don’t know why."
Zhen Yu, noticing the girl’s despondent mood, blinked and uncharacteristically offered so comforting words, "Maybe the teacher got held up with sothing."
"Maybe~" Wang Ping agreed weakly, then added, "But I couldn’t light it, it seems we’ll have to wait for the teacher."
Zhen Yan listened with twitching eyes.
You call this ’couldn’t light it’? How much bigger of a fla do you want?!
In fact, Zhen Yan misunderstood; a lot of smoke doesn’t necessarily an a big fire.
Zhen Yu glanced towards the classroom door and noticed the black smoke had already thinned out quite a bit.
Considering that stoking the furnace was a piece of cake for her, Zhen Yu decided to help Wang Ping this ti.
Just consider it doing a good deed for the day!
To build up her reputation and earn so goodwill, from now on, she wanted to try her best to be a helpful and kind child~
In the silence, Zhen Yu spoke up, "I’ll help you stoke the fire!"
Wang Ping suddenly looked up, not surprised that Zhen Yu could stoke the furnace, but asking, "You’re willing to help ?"
Zhen Yu was puzzled for a second, "Why wouldn’t I help you?"
Wang Ping suddenly felt embarrassed, her toes twirling on the ground, and only after a few seconds did she buzz like a fly.
"During the National Day, at the choir practice..."
Zhen Yu ca to a realization and lightly said, "I’ve long forgotten about that."
Perhaps it was her indifferent attitude, which made it seem as though it was none of her business, that actually made Wang Ping relax and sincerely thank her.
"Thank you, Zhen Yu! Whether or not you can get the fire going, I want to thank you!"
So she doesn’t believe in at all...
Then, let actions speak for themselves!
Zhen Yu didn’t hypocritically respond with a "you’re welco," but instead turned around and headed for the classroom, "Hurry up and start the fire, don’t delay the class."
"Okay!" Wang Ping quickly agreed and followed her.
Zhen Yan had no choice but to follow as well.
Unlike the previous tis of stoking the fire, this ti, the furnace was filled with all kinds of things by Wang Ping, and Zhen Yu had to take everything out and relight it.
After spending twice as much ti and getting covered in ash and soot, she finally got the fire blazing.
Wang Ping was so excited she nearly jumped onto Zhen Yu, and had it not been for Zhen Yu’s refusal, a hug would have been certain!
"Zhen Yu, you’re amazing! You do so well in studies and you can do anything!"
Through Fu Yu’s big mouth spread the news, and then with Qian Duoduo and Liu Ting adding fuel to the fire, the whole class knew that the lunch Zhen Yu brought every day was prepared by herself.
Wang Ping, excitedly spinning around, showered Zhen Yu with exaggerated praises.
Yet Zhen Yu couldn’t feel happy at all, only muttering in her heart, ’I’m at a loss! I’m at a loss!’
It had been a long ti since she last stoked the fire, and only upon entering the room to manage the furnace did she rember how dirty the task was, but having offered to help, she couldn’t go back on her word and say she wouldn’t do it~~
Now that the fire was going, she felt her nose and throat were a bit irritated, and without needing a mirror, she knew their nostrils would surely be black.
Even Zhen Yan got involved.
Zhen Yu told her brother to put the lunch box on her desk first, grabbed a rag and then pulled out a pack of tissues from her backpack, intending to drag Zhen Yan to the water room to wash their faces.
"Let’s wash at my dorm! I have everything there!" Wang Ping offered proactively.
"Maybe next ti," said Zhen Yu, glancing at her brother, Wang Ping imdiately understood.
Boys were not allowed in her dorm, and it wouldn’t do to leave Zhen Yu with her brother behind, so she cheerfully told them to go first, and she would go after the two returned.
On the way, Zhen Yan couldn’t help but complain, "Little sister, why do you always like to ddle in other people’s business?"
Zhen Yu was taken aback, "Do I?"
In her heart, she always firmly believed that she was a self-serving person!
"How can you not?" Zhen Yan gave his sister a look, "Not to ntion anything else, Fu Yu borrowed howork from you, and you care whether he wants to learn or not! Right?"
Zhen Yu didn’t make a sound.
Zhen Yan continued, "I heard from Han Jiayang that you told on him to his brother for not doing his sumr howork! Right?"
Zhen Yu pursed her lips.
Zhen Yan went on counting, "Let’s not even ntion Bai Yong’s issue! What about today’s event? And that ti I almost drowned!"
