After hearing Zhen Yu’s explanation, Han Mingyue still didn’t really feel like tutoring.
But thinking that Zhen Yu wouldn’t be able to co to his house on weekends anymore, and would have to go to the English teacher’s place instead, he eventually nodded his head.
Seeing the reluctance on the boy’s face, Zhen Yu couldn’t help but silently roll her eyes in her head.
You still don’t want to? If you don’t make up for it now, won’t high school be a headache?!
I, with a level four proficiency in English, still need to get tutoring for junior high school English, who can I even talk to about this?
I was planning to preview the textbooks on my own to prepare for skipping a grade next year.
Who would’ve thought I’d fall into such a big pit?
And it’s the kind where you’re not even allowed to climb out!
-
On Friday, the last subject’s geography test results arrived belatedly.
As expected, Zhen Yu scored another perfect score.
Even without rankings, everyone was well aware that she was firmly at the top of the overall scores.
Qian Duoduo had co to accept reality and glared at Zhen Yu with her paper that had been docked two points.
"Are you a robot? How co you never make mistakes!"
Zhen Yu solemnly declared: "I’m Superman."
Qian Duoduo laughed and cussed, "Get lost!"
-
After the long break, Zhen Yu asked Qian Duoduo to relay a ssage to her dad.
"I have to accompany my mom to Qi City tomorrow, so I can only attend tutoring on Sunday."
Qian Duoduo was curious, "What are you going to Qi City for?"
"It’s ti for our Shoe City to restock."
"Oh~Your family sells shoes? I just found out!" Qian Duoduo was quite curious, "Why do you need to follow them to restock? Can’t the adults take care of it?"
Her family’s situation was common knowledge to the class, but Zhen Yu was not one to talk much, and few people knew what her family business was.
"My mom’s not quite good at it yet, I need to teach her one more ti."
"You’re teaching her?" Qian Duoduo was surprised, "Did you get that mixed up?"
"No."
"..." Every day, aside from studying, I’m still studying, but my desk-mate has already taken on the family’s livelihood.
Why is there such a big gap between people?
"Go ahead! I’ll tell Teacher Qian. Be at the school gate at 8 o’clock on Sunday, I’ll wait for you."
"Okay."
-
She repeated the sa ssage to Han Mingyue at noon, asking him to wait for her at his ho on Sunday.
Han Mingyue obediently agreed.
The first period in the afternoon was PE class, and after it was dismissed, Zhen Yu, standing by the concrete platform, could clearly feel the chill.
Sitting was out of the question now, it’s freezing cold, ice butt!
Before school was let out in the evening, Teacher Cao ca to the classroom.
The students were all abuzz, saying that if things continued this way, even the last self-study period in the afternoon was going to be ’compromised.’
Teacher Cao cleared his throat and spoke loudly, "Winter is just about to arrive! Everyone knows that each year’s task is two bundles of firewood!"
"After I’m done speaking, let’s push the desks and chairs into two rows! Tomorrow there will be a workman coming to the school to build stoves."
The students began to fidget, because every year at this ti, the students were all happy, while the teachers were worried.
Having four people per row was the most interesting part, with the number of people who could whisper to each other during class doubling, making things much livelier.
And it was because of this liveliness that the teachers were frazzled over classroom discipline, much like playing whack-a-mole, when you suppress one end, the other pops up.
"These two weekends, everyone should go out and gather so firewood! Bring it in next Monday, we’ll start using the stoves on Monday."
Teacher Cao gave the order, "Start moving them now!"
"Hoohaa!" The entire classroom sprang into action, with the boys helping the girls move after finishing their own.
Teacher Cao called out to Qiao Xian, "Class president, co here!"
Qiao Xian walked to the front of the classroom and looked up at the horoom teacher.
"Sort out the order for firing the stoves and post a copy in the classroom next Monday, and give a copy as well."
"Alright, teacher!"
Qiao Xian moved to continue shifting desks and chairs following Teacher Cao’s gesture.
-
After getting settled, Zhen Yu found that Wu Qiong had beco the classmate sitting diagonally in front of her.
The four rows of seats were no longer being shuffled in pairs; instead, they were alternated back and forth.
In other words, these seats would stay with the students until the winter vacation, then continue that way until the heating stoves were removed for the Tomb-Sweeping Festival.
Zhen Yu rubbed her chin while staring at Wu Qiong’s back, always feeling an ill on of ’trouble brewing’.
In her past life, the incident of Wu Qiong stealing in the dormitory ca to light around New Year’s Day of the first year of junior high school...
Eventually, Zhen Yu pushed the thought to the back of her mind.
Who cares! It’s not like she’s boarding this ti around, what does it have to do with her at all!
-
Zhen Yu stared for a bit too long, causing Qian Duoduo to mistake her concern for that person.
As friends in trouble, one should step up to help.
Besides, her relationship with Wu Qiong wasn’t bad either; maybe if she intervened, they could reconcile.
With that thought, she resolutely said to Zhen Yu, "Let’s switch seats!"
Zhen Yu turned around, puzzled, "What?"
"You sit here."
Zhen Yu instantly replied, "No way."
If she moved there, then Qian Duoduo would have to deal with the pestering Fu Yu jumping around her every day.
"Ah! I really am a good person," Zhen Yu muttered to herself.
The rejected Qian Duoduo: "..."
It was who wanted to do a good deed, right!?
Liu Ting heard them and turned around from the seat in front, whispering very softly, "Luckily the class president is sitting next to them!"
Zhen Yu, with her sharp eyes, noticed that Qiao Xian, sitting in front of her, visibly stiffened for a mont but then relaxed again.
-
Fu Yu was kicking the seat again. Zhen Yu turned with a scowl, scaring him into imdiately shrinking his neck.
He muttered at a volu that was neither loud nor soft, "I just wanted to ask when you’re planning on gathering firewood..."
Had he not ntioned it, Zhen Yu almost forgot; her weekend was fully booked, where would she find the ti to gather firewood?
Maybe next Sunday...
Before she could finish pondering, soone else who wanted in on the action chid in, "Gathering firewood? I’ll co too! When are we going?"
Zhen Yu held her forehead and made a lip-shape to Qian Duoduo, "Tutoring."
Qian Duoduo’s mouth ford an ’O’ of realization.
But she quickly followed up, "Ask Old Qian for a leave! Make up for it next week!"
Fine, you’re the darling daughter! Your word is law!
"Let’s et at the school gates at 8 next Sunday."
"Okay!"
-
When school ended, she made plans with her friends, and on Saturday morning, Mrs. Zhen took Zhen Yu on the bus to Qi City.
Zhen Yan was left at ho ----- doing howork.
He was in his final year of junior high school facing his entrance exams, with an overwhelming amount of howork, not to ntion the extra lessons his sister had added for him.
His sister threatened him, "If you don’t finish today, don’t think about gathering firewood tomorrow."
So, begrudgingly, he resigned himself to a hostay.
Of course, Fu Yu was in the sa boat of misery.
Zhen Yu had spoken: tonight Zhen Yan was in charge of reviewing his howork; if it wasn’t finished, don’t bother coming tomorrow!
This absolutely could not be tolerated! So, after breakfast, Fu Yu went to the Zhen Family ho with his howork books in hand.
Mrs. Fu, watching her son’s retreating figure, was ’greatly comforted’ as the little monkey finally took the initiative to study...
-
On the bus.
"Mom, did you look at the watch I gave you?"
Mrs. Zhen hurriedly replied, "I looked, I looked! Just can’t rember it, that’s all!"
"I’ll explain them to you one by one later. Which style we should stock, how much to get, after going through it several tis, you’ll rember!"
"Okay, okay, okay! You call the shots!" Mrs. Zhen was quite the hands-off shopkeeper.
Zhen Yu wasn’t in a rush. After all, she still had three years until she’d take the high school entrance exam – she didn’t believe she couldn’t train her mother’s eye in that ti!
Aside from signing the supply-and-demand contract with Boss Jia, the procurent process was no different from the previous tis, and the trip to Qi City ended uneventfully.
