Mr. Han glanced at Zhen Yu and suddenly asked, "Didn’t your mom co back with you? Have you had dinner yet?"

Under Mr. Han’s watchful eye, Zhen Yu couldn’t tell a lie and could only respond blankly, "No."

"Go wash your hands, eat first, we’ll talk after dinner!" Mr. Han commanded.

As soon as he finished speaking, Han Mingyue pulled Zhen Yu away, not giving her a chance to talk.

Mrs. Han looked at the two of them leaving and instructed her younger son, "Go! Serve a bowl of rice for Xiao Yu, and bring another pair of chopsticks!"

"Oh!" Han Jiayang happily went to the kitchen.

After dinner, when Zhen Yu wanted to help clean up, Mrs. Han pushed her down onto the sofa, "Your Uncle Han wants to have a word with you, sit here and wait for him."

Zhen Yu looked at Mrs. Han with pleading eyes, her baby heart aching...

Although Mrs. Han only patted her head and walked away, she was still tickled by that beseeching gaze, sighing at how wonderful it would be if she were her own daughter!

Why did she only give birth to two stinky boys in the first place? She envied Old Cheng so much! But... it wouldn’t be bad to coax her to beco a daughter-in-law, hehehe...

---

Mr. Han first called his two sons into Han Mingyue’s room, telling them to stay put inside, before going to the sofa to talk to Zhen Yu.

Sitting down, he went straight to the point and asked, "Where’s your mom?"

Zhen Yu wished she could adopt a ’kneeling properly with docile expression’ emoji, answering anything asked, "She’s in Qi City, she still has so matters to take care of and won’t be able to finish until Monday."

"How could she rest easy letting you co back alone!" Mr. Han was sowhat angry and said firmly, "You’re staying here tonight!"

Zhen Yu’s eyes widened, "There’s no need! My mom asked to stay with Aunt Fu for the night."

"What can two won do!" Mr. Han’s words were quite chauvinistic, but Zhen Yu, who had just made a mistake, didn’t dare to point it out.

"The doors are already locked anyway!" Mr. Han stared into Zhen Yu’s eyes and said, "Starting today, you’re not allowed to go out after dark!"

Zhen Yu lowered her head and secretly rolled her eyes, Uncle Han! You’re ddling too much...

Mr. Han couldn’t see Zhen Yu’s expression, only the top of her dark head, but it didn’t prevent him from continuing his lecture.

"Do you realize where you went wrong today?! You really think you’re invincible just because you can dance a bit?!"

"Do you dare admit it was your mother who asked you to co back for that silly promotion? Earned too much money and nowhere to store it? Why didn’t you close up earlier and co find at the clinic?!"

Mr. Han beca more and more agitated, feeling that the young girl in front of him was outrageously bold! Carrying what would be half a year’s wages for an ordinary person on her own, who else would robbers target if not her?!

Mr. Han slamd the table and shouted, "Speak up! Have you gone mute! Weren’t you very capable?! Wasn’t the last ti you got a cut deep enough for you to rember!"

Zhen Yu shrank her head, not daring to play mute anymore, without lifting her head she apologized profusely, "I was wrong! I was really wrong! I won’t dare again!"

Mr. Han looked at her with disapproval... at the top of her head and said, "Apologies co out pretty fast! Just never take them to heart!"

Zhen Yu: "..."

Apologizing is wrong too! I need to ’play dead’ and calm down for a bit.

---

When Mr. Han began to scold.

"Bro! Dad is mad!" Han Jiayang peered through the crack in the door, watching the drama unfold while reporting to his brother.

Han Mingyue sat at his desk, cradling a book, and said without moving anything but his mouth, "I heard."

"Really, Sister Xiaoyu! Walking the night roads all by herself with so much money, ah! Well, it’s not exactly night, but it’s pretty late anyway, she’s too careless about safety!" complained Han Jiayang, half-listening to Mr. Han disciplining soone while griping about Zhen Yu.

Slap!—The sound of Mr. Han slapping the table ca through the crack in the door.

Hearing the noise, Han Mingyue quickly stood up and made his way to the door in a few strides.

With a light kick to his younger brother slumping near the door, Han Jiayang imdiately gave up his spot, knowing better.

Unlike Han Jiayang, who was eavesdropping sneakily, Han Mingyue simply pulled the door halfway open, then stood upright on the inside, looking toward the sofa.

"Xiao Yu!" Mr. Han’s voice carried authority, "Your dad may not be looking after you and your brother right now, but he entrusted you two to !"

Zhen Yu tentatively looked up, her gaze scrutinizing as she locked eyes with Mr. Han, wondering whether his words were true or not.

Regardless of whether Zhen Yu believed him, Mr. Han went on, "I’ve always thought you were sensible! But I didn’t expect that when you make a mistake, it’s always a big deal! Starting today, you will wait for Ming Yue and Jiaoyang to take you to and from school, understood?!"

Zhen Yu puffed her cheeks in resignation and nodded, "Understood."

"And no wandering around on the weekends! I heard that lately, as soon as you all break for the weekend, you gather at your house to study?"

"Mhmm."

"Good! From now on, you are not to run around outside on holidays, and the mont your mother leaves, you lock the door imdiately! I’ll have Ming Yue and the others co over early to see you! Especially lately!"

"Mhmm."

Mr. Han gave one last angry glare at Zhen Yu who appeared to be obedient and then stood up and left.

——

Sighing with relief only after watching Mr. Han enter the master bedroom, Zhen Yu exhaled softly.

Playing the good kid is so exhausting! She almost couldn’t keep up the act anymore.

Soon, Mrs. Han erged from the master bedroom and started walking towards the sofa.

But halfway there, she suddenly stopped and turned to Han Mingyue’s room to call out, "Both of you, co here!"

It seems she had noticed the ajar door and Han Mingyue standing by the doorway...

Upon their mother’s summons, the Han Family Brothers quickly erged from the room.

Sitting beside Zhen Yu, Mrs. Han held her hand but spoke to her sons first, "You both sit here!"

"Tonight Xiaoyu will sleep in Ming Yue’s room. Ming Yue, move that foldable wire bed into your brother’s room, you’ll share a room with Jiaoyang! I’ll get you so bedding in a bit."

"What? She’s sleeping over at our place?" Han Jiayang repeated, dazed.

"Got it," Han Mingyue pursed his lips, uttering just one word before turning around, "I, I have your books."

"Ah? Oh, oh, right! Are they in your room? I need to pack them in my bag." Zhen Yu suddenly rembered, "Oh no! My backpack is still at ho, along with my books and pens..."

"Ming Yue! What about that old backpack of yours? We have books and pens here! Tomorrow, just go straight to school from here," Mrs. Han briskly arranged.

Han Mingyue imdiately replied, "The old backpack is in the cabinet, I’ll find it for her in a bit."

"Alright then! Go about your business!" said Mrs. Han as she put the money that had been lying on the sofa back into Zhen Yu’s bag, which had a torn opening, and holding onto the bag, she led her towards Han Mingyue’s room.

Han Mingyue got up silently and followed the two.

"Mom! Can I watch TV for a bit?" Han Jiayang’s voice ca from the sofa.
