The night before returning to the Wen Family, three won of different ages and experiences sat on the beach. The sky displayed a moon that waxed and waned like life itself, and at their feet were several opened bottles of wine. Each of them held a wineglass in hand, which seed filled with moonlight or perhaps a wine even more splendid than the moonlight itself.
"A toast to our eting, to Lin Ying’s return to the stage, and to Ziceng’s upcoming backpacking journey," Sister Mu said with three toasts in a row before downing her drink.
There was a hint of reluctance in Sister Mu’s tone, which worried the others. Unlike the fully able-bodied Su Ziceng and Lin Ying, it was Sister Mu’s destiny to stay in Mo City.
"Sister," Su Ziceng hugged Sister Mu, "Let call you sister! The support and those words from Sister Mu, in this life reborn, the luckiest thing for her was to have sisters who could share both the bitterness and tears. No matter where she would be after a year, the faces and smiles of these people would forever remain in Su Ziceng’s heart.
"Don’t be so cheesy. I only have one sister, that Wen Maixue who caused my leg break and forced to go back ho to take over that ss," Sister Mu sat up, speaking sarcastically. Soone must take charge of the Wen Family business and the Golden Coast situation, though it turned into an irresolvable "unsolved case," the Wen Family must contribute money and effort for the reconstruction of the building.
"She really went crazy," Su Ziceng had not t Wen Maixue again and hadn’t visited her. Regardless of whether Wen Maixue was crazy or not, Su Ziceng knew that the extrely proud woman wouldn’t want anyone to see her current state.
"Saying she’s crazy is less than saying you’re crazy," Lin Ying, wobbly from drunkenness, suddenly collapsed on top of them on the sand, "Letting go of a good man like Hang Yishao, I really don’t understand what you’re thinking."
The interrupted wedding was never held as planned. Hang Yishao didn’t bring it up again, nor did Su Ziceng. Both seed to have a tacit understanding and never ntioned it again. It all seed like a dream until Qiu Zhi found so photos taken at the wedding scene, which faintly reminded everyone that Su Ziceng nearly married Hang Yishao.
"Perhaps I’ve grown weary of it," Su Ziceng sighed, feeling the fine sand clinging to her skin.
"Weary? It’s only soone like the fat ball Qiu Zhi that can make one feel weary," Lin Ying complained, and both Sister Mu and Su Ziceng noticed that Lin Ying had been ntioning Qiu Zhi quite often lately. Her excuse was that her job focus was in the United States and Qiu Zhi happened to have a villa there as large as his figure; needless to say, he was taking care of food and accommodation, so naturally, she ntioned him more as she saw him more often.
"Let’s not talk about this anymore," Sister Mu suggested, tossing away her wineglass, and the three of them simply drank to their hearts’ content. Tonight, they were here to celebrate.
Sister Mu would take over the affairs of the Wen Family by herself, Lin Ying would once again set off on her career path, and Su Ziceng would choose to travel around and see the world.
The three round-bellied wine glasses were thrown into the sea by the three won, clinking crisply together as the waves hit them just before they sank to the bottom, like the cheerful and pleasant laughter of the won that would not fade away even many years later.
It’s not the wine that intoxicates, but the human heart. The first to fall was Lin Ying, who claid to be invincible to drink but today, she was the most relaxed of the trio, letting her guard down and drinking more, while the bottles near Sister Mu and Su Ziceng were much fewer by comparison.
"Is it really over between you and Hang Yishao?" Sister Mu had always had this doubt. Although Hang Yishao no longer talked about rescheduling the wedding, he would occasionally co and sit in Espr’s cafe, watching the busy Su Ziceng all afternoon.
Su Ziceng did not answer; she just used her fingers to shield her eyes from the dazzling moonlight.
"It’s good to travel, to see more of the world while you’re young, just like I wanted to," Sister Mu went off on a tangent, "Are you trying to find Pello?"
The hand that Su Ziceng used to cover her eyes trembled slightly under the moonlight. Only Sister Mu would be so blunt and straightforward in voicing what was on her heart.
It had been so long, months since those events had passed, and the man who had forcefully entered her life, disrupting her wedding and thoughts, had disappeared without a trace. She didn’t even know whether he was dead or alive.
Was such a man still worth searching for? Moreover, there was no more need to search, as everything was nearing its end.
"That day, soone in the Wen Family saw Pello rush into the building; it should have been him who rescued Mai Xue," Sister Mu breathed out, having witnessed the entire process of Su Ziceng and Pello coming together and then parting. She knew the bitterness in Su Ziceng’s heart, but wasn’t Pello experiencing the sa?
"I don’t want to hear any more news about him," and once again he had deceived her. Su Ziceng spoke, noting that she had less than a year left, she neither had the ti nor the right to think about that man anymore. (To be continued.
