Su Ziceng’s anti-invasion plans required the right timing, location, and people. Jim and Sister Mu were in charge of timing and location.
Having had experience operating in Tokyo, and Jim, who had previously interacted with local officials and knew quite a few Japanese designers, made quick work through his efforts. Soon, they secured a temporary stage in the busiest public resting area of Tokyo Shibuya for three days.
After releasing the news that the designer for this show was New, they easily recruited a group of runway models with Eastern faces.
In terms of clothing, Sister Mu was also showing her strength. She quickly designed nearly a hundred mix-and-match outfits suitable for the runway and appealing to ordinary people, particularly to Asian tastes. Things seed to be going smoothly, but then a problem arose at a critical juncture.
That was the issue of the models for the opening and closing of the show. For this show, both Su Ziceng and Jim knew that the finale had to be led by a model with Eastern elents. However, the problem was that a wholly Eastern model had to be as renowned as Lin Ying. If it were anyone else, Su Ziceng and the others wouldn’t trust them enough. But Lin Ying, lost in love, couldn’t even spare three days.
"Master Pu Wangda’s illness has worsened recently," Jim also tried contacting the hospital, intending to borrow Lin Ying for a few days. But given the current situation, Master Pu Wangda could be critically ill any day.
"Let’s figure it out ourselves," Su Ziceng didn’t want Lin Ying’s difficult love to suffer any disharmony. As Lin Ying’s friend, it’s already regrettable not to be there to support her. She didn’t want Lin Ying to force a smile on the runway during her tis of deepest sorrow; that would be too cruel.
"What do you think about her?" Sister Mu pointed at lin, whom she had been observing for a long ti. lin was young, tall, and slender, looking both softly Eastern and firmly Western due to her mixed heritage. Back when she was in Mo City, Sister Mu had lin try on clothes several tis and was impressed with her physique.
"I’m afraid not," Jim didn’t quite agree. The Tokyo show was crucial and although lin had a face acceptable to both Eastern and Western audiences, she lacked runway experience. A small mistake could spell disaster. They had invested a lot of money and manpower into the Shibuya show; any small mistake could lead to severe losses.
lin looked forward when she heard Sister Mu’s suggestion, full of hope. Among the three people, only Su Ziceng had not spoken yet. As her cousin, Su Ziceng should be willing to help her. After coming to Mo City, Su Ziceng entrusted Hang Yishao with getting lin into Daquan University. However, lin struggled with the academic foundation and, unaccustod to China’s education style after the relaxed Arican one, contemplated dropping out after just a few days. Now she was temporarily out of school, much to Qiao Zhizhi’s chagrin.
Su Ziceng understood lin better than Sister Mu and Jim. Just based on outward conditions and physical requirents, lin could fulfill the role of a qualified model. Qiao Zhizhi had also ntioned that in earlier years, lin had been part of her school’s modeling team. However, lin’s aversion to hardship and fatigue was an unpredictable factor. Su Ziceng knew the significance of the fashion show, so she hesitated to make an imdiate decision.
"Perhaps, we should keep looking and contact well-known models from the country or neighboring countries to see if any of them are available to take on the show," Su Ziceng’s words made lin feel like she had fallen into a cold cellar, with her own cousin unwilling to help her. It seed to lin that Su Ziceng just couldn’t stand seeing her happy. lin’s temper flared up imdiately, and she stord out without even willing to continue as an interpreter.
First, Sister Mu contacted a few top-notch models in China, but they all had packed schedules. Then Jim reached out to several famous Asian models, but, unfortunately, their schedules were also full of various runway and ribbon-cutting events. The level of misfortune was too high, leading Su Ziceng to suspect that soone had deliberately thrown a wrench in their plans. However, their actions had already been secretive enough, so how could outsiders have beco aware of them?
