"I want to see him," Su Ziceng’s gaze still lingered on the milk and eggs.

"Seeing him might do so good; perhaps you can persuade him not to commit suicide," Pello could only see Su Ziceng’s profile, and she seed to have lost so weight.

Upon hearing the word ’suicide’, Su Ziceng’s mouth twitched, but she still did not lift her face. She could feel Pello watching her intently, as if waiting for her to beg pitifully.

Then, let it be as he wishes. "I hope you will let take care of father," Su Ziceng said, her tone lacking confidence. In so ways, Pello’s form of captivity was also the best form of protection, given the huge debts incurred by the Su Family’s bankruptcy that had debtors in Mo City and across the country clamoring to make Su Qingzhang suffer.

"Do you actually think you have the capability to take care of him now, or that you plan to take on the consequences of the Su Family’s downfall by yourself?" Pello stood up, neatly folded the napkin, and walked unhurriedly to Su Ziceng’s side.

Just as Su Ziceng was about to move her dining chair away, Pello pressed her back down, forcing her to look at him squarely.

Pello, having reclaid his title of Earl, had removed the civilized glasses he once wore. Without the thin barrier of the lenses, he now looked more aggressive.

"It’s not that I think I can, it’s that I must do this. The blood of the Su Family flowing in and what you have done compel to act," Su Ziceng raised her voice. Under Pello’s provocative gaze, she found her fighting spirit ignited instead.

Her eyes, which were once clear, were now infected by Pello’s beastly nature, turning red.

Upstairs, there was another bout of crashing sounds, accompanied by Su Qingzhang’s roars.

"Let go up and check," Su Ziceng pushed her dining chair back again, and this ti, Pello did not stop her.

Su Qingzhang had smashed all the soup and dicine that Yan Wuxu had brought to the floor, his wrists leaking blood from exertion.

He was like a trapped beast, refusing to let Yan Wuxu and the servants draw the curtains. Day and night had beco irrelevant to him; the passage of ti brought on nothing but despair from the inability to die.

Unable to die, yet living was aningless; if soone ca to end his life now, even if that person was Pello, his archenemy, he would offer sincere thanks.

"Dad," that trembling call made Su Qingzhang stop his destructive rampage.

In the dim room, the curtains were pulled apart slightly, revealing a slit through which a beam of sunshine folded in, casting light upon Su Qingzhang’s face that had aged day and night in despair.

The light, unseen for days, caused a sour sensation in Su Qingzhang’s stiff eyes, as if he saw Qiao Chu, but the word "Dad" let him know, it was Su Ziceng who ca.

In this world, the only one who could call him that way so indifferently was none other than Su Ziceng.

Yan Wuxu witnessed a very dramatic scene; Su Qingzhang, who had seed like a mad old man days before, suddenly cald down as if a ntal patient who had been sedated.

The fragnts of porcelain on the carpet still spun in the leaking puddle, and Su Qingzhang’s next reaction was to hide his bandaged hands out of sight. As a father, he could be strict and cold, but he should not be weak and suicidal.

Yan Wuxu, standing by, took a blanket and covered Su Qingzhang’s knees; Su Qingzhang didn’t lash out, just firmly gripped the blanket.

It took a long while for him to regain his stern deanor, chastising in the tone of a father scolding his daughter: "Why are you here, I have nothing to do with you anymore."

"Dad, why did you give up on ," Su Ziceng knelt on the ground, embracing the arms covered by the blanket. Before coming, she had planned to remain calm and collected, to have a proper talk with Su Qingzhang.

Having exhausted all her control when facing Pello, she had lost the strength to pretend upon seeing Su Qingzhang.

"Su Ziceng, don’t be ungrateful. In the affair of the Su Family’s bankruptcy, the only one unaffected is you," Yan Wuxu said bitterly as she looked at Su Ziceng with annoyance. Yan Wuxu could not fathom what Su Ziceng could possibly be dissatisfied with. The person with the worst fate was herself, obtaining nothing and now having to care for a crippled son.
