What a load of crap, Su Ziceng cursed inwardly, but her face remained stoic as always. She knew it was ti to throw in her last bargaining chip, "If the governnt can submit this report to the Mining Departnt, I can promise that the Su Family will sell coal to Mo City Thermal Power Bureau at twenty percent below market price every year."
Her words landed with impact, like a sudden gust of hot wind that made the Mayor’s head swell. A twenty percent discount was significant; the coal produced by the Su Family was top-grade within the country. If they were willing to offer such a discount, it would undoubtedly be great news.
"I’m saying, don’t you get it," Mr. Fei chirped incessantly like a ceaseless cicada.
"Old Fei," the Mayor extended two fingers, tapping lightly on the table as his gaze returned to Su Ziceng’s face.
The lady from the Su Family who had been through many changes over the past few days did not seem that simple. As Su Ziceng put forward her final terms, her hands pressed firmly against the office desk, and her body leaned forward slightly, like a leopardess poised to hunt, her eyes glinting with a sharpness that unwittingly invoked an urge to retreat in others. She indeed had so of Su Qingzhang’s imposing aura.
The Mayor saw sothing unusual through those brown eyes, "Can you make this decision in place of your father?"
The woman before him could indeed be the ailing Su Qingzhang’s spokesperson.
"I’m not making this decision on behalf of my father; I am making it on behalf of the Su Family," Su Ziceng’s reply was crisp and decisive, without a trace of hesitation. Although a twenty percent discount was a substantial loss, it was better than an indefinite shutdown.
A shutdown would an unemploynt, and unemployed employees of the Su Family would be more terrifying than any rioting miner’s family.
So whether it’s Pello or Chang i, they were both wrong; what matters most now is the people’s sentints. Stability among the people makes all else ready.
The Mayor, having had a few brief exchanges with Su Qingzhang, seed to see a female version of him. Frankly, the developing Mo City needed entrepreneurs like Su Qingzhang more than ever—domineering yet upright. The illness of Su Qingzhang and the potential collapse of the Su Family would be a loss to Mo City.
"Alright," the Mayor agreed, ignoring the protesting Mr. Fei at his side.
"Thank you," Su Ziceng imdiately took out a docunt and handed over a pen.
She had the agreent prepared already, which made the Mayor shake his head with a sense of being outplayed by this young woman, but he still signed his na on that agreent.
A weight seed lifted off Su Ziceng’s shoulders. She signed her na on the docunt too, and as she walked out of the Mayor’s office, she leaned against the wall, feeling a surge of warmth spreading from her eyes.
"I should go and tell my father the good news," Su Ziceng patted her numb cheeks and strode out of the city governnt building. Upon entering her dostically-produced car, the stifling heat ward her up again.
"No, before going to the hospital, I must go thank soone," Su Ziceng pressed the gas pedal, and the car issued a sluggish start-up sound. This dostically-developed car wasn’t quite up to par with her expectations.
Patting the steering wheel, Su Ziceng self-deprecatingly said, "Little buddy, it’s ti for us to catch up with the international automotive giants; we both need to make an effort."
The air conditioning still didn’t work, so Su Ziceng rolled down the window. A cool breeze blew in, and the neat row of municipal buildings in District One all turned into a blur of white shadows.
The place Su Ziceng wanted to visit was not far from the City Hall; Mo City’s police station was located at the exit of District One. The person Su Ziceng wanted to thank was Chang i. It had never occurred to Su Ziceng that one day she would need to express gratitude to Chang i.
Chang Chi had arrived at the police station before Su Ziceng, still not giving up, trying to persuade Chang i to withdraw from the legal case. Shang Yin’s suggestion was still under her consideration. At her insistence, Shang Yin had agreed to hire a foreign lawyer to handle the case. However, her mother had not agreed to employ that lawyer, insisting on using the lawyer hired by Su Ziceng, which displeased Chang Chi.
So when Su Ziceng entered, she just happened to see Chang Chi with a dark face, sitting opposite her mother, which made her sudden appearance as an outsider all the more abrupt. (To be continued.
