Mr. Fei was talking to the mayor about Mo City’s tax revenue situation for the second quarter of this year when the mayor’s secretary ca in, "Miss Su from the Su Family says she wants to et the mayor to discuss the issue about the governnt halting operations in the Su Family’s mining area. Should I let her in?"

The mayor glanced at Mr. Fei. To tell the truth, the proposal to halt the Su Family’s operations originated from Mr. Fei. Compared to Su Qingzhang, who was sick in bed and whose life and death were uncertain, the mayor was of course more inclined to curry favor with the increasingly fortunate Mr. Fei. The mayor, a seasoned politician, understood all too well the adage that everyone pushes a falling tree.

Hence, he did not say a word, but instead looked directly at Mr. Fei. Judging by Mo City’s tax revenue for the second quarter of the year, the economic growth of Mo City had entered a stagnation phase. A new project was needed to drive economic developnt, and the seaside projects newly constructed by the Fei Family and the Hang Family were potential economic growth points.

"Can’t you see I’m busy with the mayor? The Su Family really has no one left, sending a clueless young girl. What’s Su Ziceng, anyway? Just a nouveau riche without even a proper university diploma," said Mr. Fei, one of Mo City’s nouveau riches, with no mincing of words when talking about others, seemingly forgetting his own status.

"But Miss Su says if the city hall doesn’t accept this, she will directly submit the docunts to the State Council?" The secretary hurriedly added another sentence. She too was taken aback by Su Ziceng’s boldness. If these were docunts to be submitted to the State Council, they must be very important, and she dared not hide this information carelessly.

The mayor was also on alert. Mr. Fei thought he had heard wrong; the Su Family without Su Qingzhang was no longer a force to be reckoned with. Yet now they still wanted to bring the matter to the State Council; Su Ziceng truly must have the audacity of a bear and the guts of a leopard.

"Go, go, go, kick her out. What a farce," urged Mr. Fei to the secretary. Today was not the day when just anyone could barge into the mayor’s office.

"Wait, Old Fei, let’s let her in. Recently, those petitioners said that we haven’t t with anyone seeking an audience, leaving them not knowing how to write their quarterly reports," the mayor ultimately said, still sounding mayoral. From the secretary’s ssage, he had caught on to so nuances.

When Su Ziceng walked into the mayor’s office, she saw Mr. Fei sitting on a sofa to the side. There was only one seat in the mayor’s office. After she entered the room, she didn’t hear the mayor call out, so she had to stand there awkwardly.

Outside, it was the sweltering heat of sumr, and the air conditioning in the mayor’s office was set to at least 18 degrees. The air conditioning in the dostic car was not good, so Su Ziceng was sweating profusely by the ti she arrived. But now that she had entered the office, she felt her body’s sweat cooling down imdiately.

The two local power figures sitting in front of her exerted an oppressive pressure on her.

"Ziceng," said Mr. Fei in a seemingly warm tone, feigning concern, "how is Qingzhang’s health? I’ve heard that his condition is not very good. Why aren’t you by your father’s side and have run off here?" Mr. Fei spoke and sneered inwardly, thinking to himself, that impudent girl, not properly attending to that living corpse and now showing up in the city hall, as if she does not recognize whose turf this is.

The mayor was sizing up this ’young girl with yellow hair’ referred to by Mr. Fei, secretly considering that she looked like an ordinary rich girl, unlikely to stir up much trouble. He thought he could just deal with her casually and send her packing.

When Su Ziceng first entered, there was a hint of timidity in her eyes, but it hardened against Mr. Fei’s mocking words and the mayor’s cold stare.

"Greetings to you both. Regarding the shutdown of the Su family’s mining area, I feel there are so objections," said Su Ziceng as she walked straight to the mayor’s desk. Although she was verbally greeting them, her eyes were only on the mayor, not even sparing Mr. Fei a proper glance. She must resolve the issue in the shortest possible ti; there was no need to waste words on people like Mr. Fei.

Mr. Fei felt her deliberate disregard and was even more infuriated. Even when Su Qingzhang was in good health, he had not been taken seriously; and now Su Ziceng maintained the sa attitude even after the Su Family’s downfall.

"What objections could there be? The decision was passed by a collective vote of the City Council. This is City Hall, not the Su Family’s office building; it’s not your place to give orders," Mr. Fei huffed, firm in his belief that the Su Family must fall, and fall completely.
