"Camilla,"

Tiffany leaned closer to the cara, lowering her voice with an air of secrecy.

"Are you really clueless, or are you just pretending?"

Camilla frowned, her delicate face a picture of confusion.

"What?"

Instead of answering right away, Tiffany continued in a hushed tone.

"First, tell —your big boss isn’t going to suddenly co back, is he?"

"Probably not," Camilla watched Tiffany’s overly cautious expression with amusent.

"Ramsey said the eting will take at least an hour."

"Good, that’s a relief,"

Tiffany instantly relaxed again, her eyes gleaming with the knowing spark of soone about to share juicy gossip.

"I’m talking about how Senior ga has feelings for you."

"Fanny,"

Camilla rubbed her temples with a weary sigh.

"Don’t you think your friendship goggles are a bit too strong?

That you assu everyone has a crush on ?" Her beautiful eyes, slightly upturned, shimred with amused exasperation.

"Senior ga and I are just friends—nothing more, nothing less."

Back then, her mind had been consud by two things: escaping the Sanchez family and searching desperately for her grandfather.

Romance was the last thing on her mind, and she hadn’t even spared a thought for love.

To her, Antonio was rely a slightly more familiar face among her peers.

"It’s not my friendship goggles—it’s your beauty that’s too overpowering,"

Tiffany chuckled, propping her chin on her hand as she gazed at her friend’s face on the video call—a face so flawless it could’ve been barbie’s masterpiece.

"Rember the first ti I saw you?

I was completely stunned.

How could anyone be that breathtaking?"

And if even she, a fellow girl, couldn’t help but feel that way, what chance did the guys stand?

"Stop," Camilla cut in with a playful grin.

"Fanny, I’ve heard this a thousand tis.

Keep going, and I might start suspecting you’ve switched teams and fallen for ."

"Honestly," Tiffany suddenly fixed Camilla with a serious gaze, speaking earnestly.

"I actually did think about it that way."

Camilla: "..." "Ha!

Just ssing with you," Tiffany laughed, her beautiful eyes crinkling into crescents, her fair face bright with amusent.

"But I wasn’t joking about Senior ga having feelings for you," she added casually, picking up a lychee and peeling it.

"Haven’t you noticed?

In the entire school, you’re the only girl he doesn’t keep at arm’s length—literally.

He maintains at least a three-ter distance from everyone else."

Thanks to her close friendship with Camilla, Tiffany occasionally managed to exchange a few words with Senior ga.

But even those rare conversations always revolved around Camilla.

She had kept quiet about it, not wanting to spoil Senior ga’s sweet, secret crush—letting him confess in his own ti.

Who would’ve guessed the person in question remained completely clueless?

"That’s just because our professor assigned us to the sa group.

We had to collaborate on the research project—it wasn’t by choice," Camilla argued.

"Tsk, tsk."

Tiffany shook her head, looking utterly exasperated, as if dealing with a hopeless case.

"You probably didn’t know this, but Senior ga never had a partner before you."

"Oh?"

Camilla couldn’t have cared less.

"I really had no idea."

Or rather, she had never even bothered to think about it.

"Well, you know what they say—those on the inside can’t see what’s obvious to outsiders."

Tiffany popped a strawberry into her mouth, savoring it with satisfaction.

"I actually thought you two would end up together.

I an, the untouchable campus heartthrob and the goddess-level beauty?

A match made in heaven.

Who would’ve guessed he’d suddenly leave like that?"

She sighed wistfully.

"But then again, maybe this was fate’s way of setting things right.

After all, Big Boss Luther is your true destiny.

Senior ga was just... just..." Tiffany trailed off, struggling to find the right word.

Just then, a deep, icy male voice cut through the air.

"A passing phase?"

"Exactly!"

Tiffany nodded vigorously.

"That’s the perfect word—you always get ."

Her words trailed off abruptly as her eyes widened in shock at the strikingly handso man who had appeared behind Camilla without warning.

Wait—wasn’t the big boss supposed to be away today?

Talk about bad timing!

Camilla turned in surprise.

"Sweetheart?

The eting’s over already?"

"I wanted to co back to you sooner, so I wrapped things up early," Sinclair replied, his gaze shifting to the screen where Tiffany’s face was frozen in alarm.

A faint, unreadable smile played on his lips.

"Don’t mind .

Carry on."

Camilla had no idea how much he’d overheard.

Knowing her husband’s jealous streak, she worried he might misunderstand, but she couldn’t just abandon her friend either.

With a subtle, pleading glance at her husband, she turned her attention back to the computer screen.

"Fanny, what was the good news you ntioned earlier?"

Camilla stared at the screen, puzzled.

Tiffany remained frozen in the video call—her posture unchanged, her expression eerily still.

"Fanny?"

Still no response.

"Is the connection frozen?"

Camilla frowned, baffled by the sudden glitch.

anwhile, Sinclair observed the subtle flicker in Tiffany’s eyes—just as Camilla glanced down to check the network.

His dark eyes narrowed, lips curving into an inscrutable smile.

"Guess it really is frozen.

I’ll call again."

Camilla ended the video.

On the other end, the mont the call disconnected, Tiffany clutched her chest and exhaled sharply.

If that had lasted any longer, she wouldn’t have been able to hold it together.

At that very mont, Camilla’s video call ca through again.

Without hesitation, Tiffany hit the decline button and imdiately sent three voice ssages.

"Camilla, my signal suddenly got terrible here.

Let’s catch up properly after I’m discharged from the hospital in a couple days, okay?"

"Oh, and a friend sent two crates of strawberries. I’ve arranged for a local courier to deliver them to you—should be arriving soon.

Enjoy them slowly with your big shot there."

"I’m going to rest now, no need to reply."

After sending the ssages, Tiffany exhaled in relief and contentedly resud eating the lychee in her hand.

Sorry, Camilla.

I admit I’m useless, but I’m genuinely scared.

On the other end, Camilla listened to the voice ssages and instantly understood everything.

Her crimson lips pressed together in helpless frustration.

So much for "friends in need are friends indeed"—here was living proof of fair-weather friendship.

Sinclair arched an eyebrow and moved to sit on the nearby sofa, leaning back comfortably.

Setting aside what he’d been holding, he fixed his dark, amused eyes on Camilla.

"Co here, sweetheart."

His deep voice made it impossible to tell whether there’d been any pause between those four words.

Camilla closed her laptop and obediently walked over, settling into her usual spot before wrapping her arms around the man’s neck.

"Sweetheart."

"Hmm."

Sinclair looked down at Camilla, his thin lips parting as he spoke slowly.

"Does my baby have sothing to tell ?"

His voice was slightly husky, betraying no discernible emotion.

He had overlooked it before—he hadn’t properly looked into Camilla’s life during her university days.

He wondered just how many passersby like this there had been.

Camilla knew the principle: confession brought leniency, while resistance invited severity.

Besides, there had never been anything between her and Senior ga in the first place.

"There is."

She briefly recounted the simplest of stories—her interactions with Senior ga during university and their chance reunion at the café a couple of days ago.

"That’s all there is to it," she said, pressing a light kiss to his lips.

"Don’t go getting jealous over nothing." Camilla might not mind, but the other person certainly would.

"Not jealous, huh?"

Sinclair lowered his head, his thin lips hovering near Camilla’s, his dark eyes smoldering with intensity.

"Then tell , Camilla," he murmured, his voice dropping to a husky whisper, "what should I be tasting instead?"

With deliberate slowness, he brushed his lips against his delicate wife’s, teasing yet possessive.

"Hmm?"
