Chapter 774: Chapter 775: Can You Stop Boasting?
Yu Hang pressed Xi Minghui’s shoulder to stop him from retorting agitatedly.
“Chiang Xiao is right,” he said.
Chiang Xiao spoke, “How co you can draft your own agreent that favors you and ask for my help, but I can’t propose my own conditions?”
Xi Minghui was montarily at a loss for words.
“I ask you,” Chiang Xiao continued, “you say that if the old master sees a painting he likes, he might beco sowhat clearer in mind, but you can’t guarantee the extent of this clarity, can you? No one can, right?”
Yu Hang hesitated, then nodded in agreent.
Chiang Xiao went on, “Is it certain he’ll beco clear-headed enough to help you? What if he really does like the painting, but the degree of his liking doesn’t reach the point where he wants to help you?”
Only sothing deeply moving, sothing he really likes and delights in, would be worth such a favor.
Right?
But who among those searching for a painting to give to that old man can guarantee this point?
Yu Hang was smart, but at this ti he was just a teenager, sixteen or seventeen years old. So, he looked at Chiang Xiao, hoping she would continue, because he didn’t quite understand her point yet.
Chiang Xiao pursed her lips and said, “What I an is, what if my words could make that old man completely lucid? What if he could feel just like he did before he beca confused, fully aware of his improved physical and ntal state, and realizing that the painting has an effect beyond being just a painting?”
Xi Minghui couldn’t hold back and leaped up again.
“Hey! Chiang Xiao! Can’t you stop bluffing?” This ti, he couldn’t control his volu.
He simply couldn’t believe what Chiang Xiao was saying and thought she was just bluffing.
For the past month and a half, they had been paying close attention to Chiang Xiao and noted she was exceptionally attentive in class. After class, except for going to the restroom, she would be reviewing and reading, engaging less frequently in chatting and joking with classmates.
They had thought she was the steady, mature type of top student.
But now, listening to her, they felt she was just talking nonsense with her head in the clouds!
If her painting really had that effect, it wouldn’t just be a painting, it would be a treasure!
If they could offer such a painting, that old man would surely be willing to help them!
But how could there possibly be such a painting?
“Minghui!” Yu Hang slapped him lightly, “Sit down.”
At that mont, outside the ice room, three people were passing by. A ten-year-old girl, attracted by the ice room, turned her head to look inside. Her eyes widened instantly, and she hurriedly pulled at the woman’s clothes beside her, saying, “Mom, Sister Xiao Xiao! Is that Sister Xiao Xiao?”
Hearing her daughter’s words, the woman also stopped imdiately and looked in the direction she was pointing.
Through the glass, the girl sitting by the window had a delicate profile, her black shiny hair tied in a ponytail, with a few strands falling beside her ear, looking as beautiful as a girl from the cover of a magazine.
This was Chiang Xiao, and yet it was not Chiang Xiao.
Song Xiyun was sowhat bewildered for a mont.
Until Chiang Caijiao tugged her clothes again, Song Xiyun suddenly felt a surge of irritation and slapped Chiang Caijiao on the back of the head, scolding, “What are you tugging for? Can’t you talk?”
“Mom, Sister Xiao Xiao is looking over here…” Chiang Caijiao was nearly pushed forward by the slap, her eyes welling up with tears. But she quickly swallowed them back.
Crying in front of Song Xiyun was useless, no matter how aggrieved she was, for Song Xiyun would never feel pity for her; she wasn’t Dongdong.
Even Dongdong had not been spared from scolding lately. Chiang Caijiao knew it was because their father had not been ho for too long, and when Dad wasn’t ho, Mom’s mood was never good.
