Chapter 208: Chapter 208 Setting Traps Gathering Ferns

Ge Dejun and Xu Linjiang were both amused by her words and couldn’t hold back their laughter.

“I see this girl is truly clever,” Ge Dejun said with a smile, “Alright, since Little isn’t afraid, then the three of us will explore further in together!”

“Let’s go!” Chiang Xiao was overjoyed, she really liked her great-uncle’s openness, “I know where the patch of ferns grandpa ntioned is located!”

Continuing along the stream and walking further, a barely visible path appeared ahead, almost covered by the mountain grass.

Xu Linjiang led the way, poking with a stick to check the path and drive away snakes, ntioning, “I’ve heard that the Eighth Route Army had co here before and even camped out, so this path might be the one they made back then.”

“That must be it, my grandpa has walked it too,” Chiang Xiao replied.

“People from the village are too scared to co up here, so there should be plenty of small animals,” Ge Dejun felt an itch for hunting.

Other mountains had been scavenged by famished folks during those years, and if any ga remained, it was either eaten or scared away, but the most likely possibility was that they had fled to Bai Gu Mountain.

So, there had to be ga in these mountains.

“There is!” Chiang Xiao, hearing his desire to hunt, was very supportive, “Last ti we even caught three hares!”

“I heard from your grandma!” De Jun said, “How about this: you follow your aunt’s husband, and I’ll set a few traps. When we co back next ti, we might just find a hare waiting in the trap for us to catch it!”

Chiang Xiao couldn’t help but laugh, “Great-uncle, you can make traps too?”

“Of course, you should not underestimate your great-uncle; I used to hunt for several years when I was young!” Ge Dejun said, his voice full of pride as he patted his chest.

“Great-uncle is so aweso!” Chiang Xiao flattered him at just the right mont. “Then you go and set traps, I’ll follow my aunt’s husband!”

Chiang Xiao was actually glad that they would split up, as it would give her the chance to slip away and do her own thing.

Ge Dejun then told Xu Linjiang to keep a close eye on Chiang Xiao, before turning in a different direction to go and set his traps.

“Little Little, you must stick close to ,” Xu Linjiang looked back at her.

Chiang Xiao quickly nodded.

“Aunt’s husband, don’t worry, I won’t run off,” she assured him.

They continued walking forward.

Suddenly, Chiang Xiao’s eyes brightened.

Ahead of them, the ground dipped down and was covered with a dense sea of green plants, which were unmistakably the ferns they were searching for!

“Aunt’s husband! Ferns!”

Xu Linjiang saw them too.

“There’s quite a lot indeed!” He was also excited.

This large expanse, once they had crawled out of the big pits, spread even further ahead, so vast that it seed endless. It was definitely more than what Chiang Songhai had described!

“We’re going to be rich now!” Chiang Xiao jumped up, unable to contain herself.

Such a vast area couldn’t be picked all at once; it would take at least four or five tis, and by the ti they picked it later, the earlier patches would probably have regrown!

So, the ferns were a guaranteed profit, with no need to worry at all!

How could Chiang Xiao not be thrilled?

“Little Little, co on, let’s go pick so ferns now!” Xu Linjiang’s eyes sparkled as well, feeling exceptionally hopeful about earning money through hard work and diligence. Looking at the ferns, he couldn’t help but add, “When I go back, I’ll ask the doctor at the hospital if pregnant won can eat these wild vegetables. If they can, I’ll cook so for your aunt to try tomorrow.”

At this, Xu Linjiang chuckled with a sowhat sheepish smile.

Seeing him like this, Chiang Xiao didn’t have the heart to tease him.
