Chapter 1980: Chapter 1916: Half a Master
Pheng Fei glanced over here briefly, but quickly turned his head away.
Right now, his mind wasn’t on these people.
Earlier, he was sowhat wary of Wilson and Luna, so when he asked the maid to invite Chiang Xiao downstairs, he stayed to keep an eye on Wilson and Luna, just in case they attempted sothing against Chiang Xiao.
However, Wilson and Luna stayed put, not doing much except occasionally shooting him disdainful looks.
Such things were neither here nor there for him, and he couldn’t be bothered to fuss over them.
In reality, it wasn’t easy for an Easterner like him to integrate into this circle, but fortunately, Fuli trusted her, and Mr. Wen Li was fond of his daughter, sowhat extending that affection to him, so they treated him well.
Once so business from here shifted into his hands, his family back ho started to take him seriously, a reciprocal relationship, and everything was moving in a good direction.
That’s why he had the mind to beco Chiang Xiao’s assistant these days; otherwise, he’d be overwheld by the sheer amount of work.
What he hadn’t told Chiang Xiao was that the reason he wanted to be her assistant was that Mr. Wen Li’s niece, Tina, willingly started acting as Luna’s assistant today.
Luna was hostile towards Chiang Xiao, and with Tina there, being practically half a host, if she sided with Luna, Chiang Xiao would truly stand little chance.
Mr. Wen Li couldn’t bear to directly embarrass his niece, hence he had Pheng Fei beco Chiang Xiao’s assistant in order to help her fend off any bullying here.
Because Tina only ca from the racecourse last night and seed unaware of today’s specific arrangents, Pheng Fei wasn’t particularly wary of her yet.
He always felt that at least until she actually t Luna and heard her instigations, she wouldn’t develop any intention to prank or act against Chiang Xiao.
He hadn’t anticipated Tina’s thoughts.
The fact that Chiang Xiao would beco entangled in their power struggle was sothing even Mr. Wen Li hadn’t foreseen.
But fate is strange like that, and Chiang Xiao herself hadn’t expected that because of this incident, she would later gain a formidable friend.
Two people entered from outside.
One was an elderly man about sixty, with brown hair, wearing a gray suit. His eyebrows were thick and long, eyes deep-set, and despite the wrinkles on his face, he appeared very wise.
Walking beside him was a middle-aged man in a checked suit, with a reserved smile, half a step behind the elder, looking like his secretary.
"Mr. Wen Li."
Everyone greeted the old man in unison.
"Delighted to see you all, Green, please seat our honored guests."
Mr. Wen Li said, heading to the main seat in the long dining room, where Pheng Fei quickly went over to pull out the chair for him.
"Father."
Mr. Wen Li glanced at him, then swept his gaze over everyone’s faces, smiling as he asked, "Where’s our little Eastern beauty?"
Pheng Fei paused.
Although Mr. Wen Li decided to hold a painting contest at the estate and invited people over, he didn’t like guests wandering around the estate without permission.
Thus, he had previously told Chiang Xiao about the areas that were off-limits.
As long as she didn’t trespass, Mr. Wen Li was quite agreeable to talk to.
Moreover, even though he hadn’t t Chiang Xiao yet, he had a favorable impression of her, having ntioned more than once to them that the young lady’s paintings were really full of spiritual energy.
Now that Chiang Xiao was nowhere to be found, if she was indeed wandering off, it could easily extinguish Mr. Wen Li’s good impression of her.
