Chapter 1611: Chapter 1613: Just Being Talkative
Xie Landi naturally nodded eagerly and said okay.
As they chatted, Deng Qingjiang finally decided to treat the people from their dorm to dinner that evening.
“They’re all in class now. I’ll tell them when they co back at noon,” Ye Wanqing said.
“Great, thank you, Student Ye.”
“Uncle Deng, just call
Wanqing,” Ye Wanqing said, looking at the sheer number of items he took out of the car. Her heart ached with jealousy—milk candies, Mai Ru Jing, Snowflake Cream, conditioner, scarves, gloves, wool hats… so many good things. Why were they all for Chiang Xiao?
She wanted them so badly too.
If only this uncle were hers.
“Alright, then I’ll call you Wanqing. Wanqing, this bag of milk candies is for sharing with Chiang Xiao’s roommates. Once your dormmates are all back, you can split it with them.”
After Aunt Qiu, the dorm supervisor, inspected the items, Ye Wanqing helped carry everything up to the dorm. Xie Landi, whose class was about to start, said goodbye to him and headed off to class.
Actually, Ye Wanqing should have gone to class too, but to her, Deng Qingjiang seed much more important than that lecture. At worst, she’d just be a little late.
She accepted the bag of milk candies with a soft acknowledgnt.
Seeing her obedient deanor, Deng Qingjiang thought for a mont and then took out a red envelope from the pocket of his suit. He pressed it into Ye Wanqing’s hand.
“Here, Wanqing, I feel we have a connection. This red envelope was originally ant for Chiang Xiao, but since she’s not here, I’ll give it to her next ti. For now, this one’s for you.”
Looking at the red envelope in her hand, Ye Wanqing felt an overwhelming itch in her heart. She restrained herself with great difficulty, resisting the urge to imdiately grab it. Instead, she stepped back and shook her head, saying, “I can’t accept this, Uncle Deng.”
Seeing her lightly bite her lip, that expression stirred sothing in Deng Qingjiang as well. He simply reached out, grabbed her hand, placed the red envelope in it, and gently patted the back of her hand. “Take it. We really do have a connection. A red envelope is nothing, just a bit of money.”
Ye Wanqing felt a slight tickle on the back of her hand.
After Deng Qingjiang finalized the restaurant address and ti for dinner that evening and left, she imdiately opened the red envelope. Seeing two hundred-yuan bills inside, her eyes widened.
Oh my gosh!
They had no relationship at all and were eting for the first ti, yet Deng Qingjiang had given her such a generous red envelope with 200 yuan!
For a mont, Ye Wanqing’s heart thudded wildly.
Images of Deng Qingjiang’s handso face and gentle words flooded her mind. She also thought about how he had grabbed her hand when giving her the red envelope, and suddenly her hand felt burning hot.
She clutched the red envelope tightly.
ng Xinian had returned to the barracks, just in ti to run into the team as they ca back from their morning training. He bumped into Cheng Cheng head-on.
ng Xinian waved at Cheng Cheng.
Cheng Cheng raised an eyebrow.
What was with that gesture and expression—was this guy waving at him like he was calling a dog?
He didn’t move, but Zhao Xin next to him imdiately said, “Officer Cheng, our Great Officer is calling you.”
Three black lines instantly appeared on Cheng Cheng’s forehead.
Calling him? Just waving a hand counts as calling?
At first, Cheng Cheng didn’t want to respond, but after Zhao Xin put it that way, he couldn’t very well pretend not to see it anymore.
He shot Zhao Xin a glare and walked over to ng Xinian.
After Zhao Xin received such a glare, he felt a bit confused. He turned to Gong Xinhe and asked, “Did I say sothing wrong? Officer Cheng seems unhappy.”
Gong Xinhe patted him on the shoulder. “You didn’t say anything wrong; you just talked too much.”
