Chapter 1593: Chapter 1595: Missing a Generation

Kuang Yunxian went to break the lock and change it, but Chiang Xiao didn’t go over to watch.

Just then, her grandfather called.

Since she returned from M City last ti, this was the first ti her grandfather had actively called her. Before, it was always Chiang Xiao calling him. They would exchange a few pleasantries, but they rarely had much to say. Afterward, the conversation would fizzle out.

And he would awkwardly find excuses, saying things like Xue Liujin ca over, so it was inconvenient to talk. Or the soup in the pot was boiling, and he needed to watch the stove. Or there were flower seedlings waiting to be planted in the yard, so they’d chat another ti.

All sorts of reasons, seemingly an attempt to avoid the topic, afraid she might bring up the matter of adoption.

Chiang Xiao hadn’t had a real chance to talk to them.

So, with Chiang Songhai voluntarily calling her this ti, a sense of relief surged in Chiang Xiao’s heart.

“Grandpa, is everything at ho okay?”

“Everything’s fine.” Chiang Songhai had spent over half a month wrestling with his emotions, finally managing to suppress the pain and reluctance in his heart. After discussing with Ge Liutao, he decided to make this call to Chiang Xiao.

Standing beside him, Ge Liutao wiped away tears while listening to him make the call.

“Little…” Chiang Songhai felt a lump in his throat as he prepared to say these words. But they had dragged this on for over half a month already. They couldn’t keep delaying any longer. If this truly ended up causing Little trouble, it would genuinely be their fault. “Your grandma and I have thought it through. If you really want to find suitable parents for adoption, we have no objections. We won’t oppose it.”

“Grandpa?”

“We were wrong before. Back in our hotown, children who were adopted often didn’t recognize their biological parents or grandparents. But that’s because they were adopted very young and didn’t rember anything. You’re different, though. You’re already grown up and have always been a good child, thoughtful toward us. You’ll surely always remain our dear granddaughter.”

Pausing for a mont, Chiang Songhai continued, “So, we don’t mind, and we don’t oppose it. As long as it’s good for you, that’s what matters. Just co back to visit us more often, okay?”

Chiang Xiao could clearly hear the choking emotion in his voice.

Just as she was about to respond, Chiang Songhai spoke again: “But, the people adopting you, we have to choose wisely. They should genuinely care for you and have no ill will. Do you already have soone in mind?”

Chiang Xiao sighed softly, understanding how difficult it must have been for them to make this decision.

Suddenly, she felt as though she was indeed being a bit cold-hearted—or rather, perhaps her previous life, where she couldn’t protect herself well, led to being pushed into such a corner by rumors, with her grandparents asking her to endure. That lingering resentnt, however faint, made her sotis neglect to consider their feelings first.

But to be honest, when ng Xinian ntioned how her grandparents had reacted strongly the last ti, she had already completely abandoned the idea.

Chiang Xiao said, “Grandpa, to be straightforward, I did contemplate this before, and I even had soone in mind—my teacher. My teacher and his wife don’t have children, and they’ve always treated

kindly, so I felt they would be quite suitable.”

Before she could finish her sentence, Chiang Songhai hurriedly interjected, “Teacher Liu? They are very good people, truly kind, and they care about you. But if you’re adopted by them, they’d beco your parents? How would that work out age-wise?”

Chiang Xiao was stunned—age?

As she thought further, she quickly understood what Chiang Songhai ant.

After all, Teacher Liu wasn’t much younger than her grandparents. In fact, when Teacher Liu addressed her grandfather, he would call him Elder Brother Chiang or Sister-in-law.

Their interactions in the past had always assud they were of the sa generation.

If she beca Liu Guoying’s daughter, wouldn’t that make her grandparents a generation younger?
