Chapter 1362: Chapter 1363: The Final Lifeline

The river was shallow, flowing calmly inwards, but it was faintly perceptible that the deeper you went, the deeper the water beca. The river was winding and long, dark and cold.

She followed the river for a while until the terrain beca steep and slippery, with no path to be found.

Chiang Xiao stubbornly continued walking with difficulty for a while longer. It had beco necessary to use her hands and feet, and to advance in the posture of a gecko. Looking ahead, the river channel was even wider and more tortuous, with mountain walls on both sides. There truly was no path to take.

Unless Tyrant ng and his n swam across.

But looking forward like this, there was no end in sight. Who would be so foolish to swim?

Even if they could swim across, what kind of items could that private army be hiding that they would need to be constantly using the water route? Surely they didn’t have a ship here?

Chiang Xiao had no choice but to turn back.

Her heart was so anxious she wanted to scream out loud.

All along the way, there were clearly marks left by ng Xinian, indicating that he truly had entered this place, but where was he, where was he, where was he!

Chiang Xiao even wanted to shout his na aloud.

She retreated back to the pile of dirt and rocks.

Besides this spot, she had already looked everywhere around. There were no abnormalities and no other exits.

Chiang Xiao looked sowhat blankly at that pile of dirt and rocks.

She walked over and grabbed a handful of dirt.

“ng Xinian! ng Xinian!”

She called out.

Chiang Xiao didn’t know that behind this pile of dirt and rocks, there was a heavy iron door, and beyond the door was a half-natural, half-manmade expanded secret room. Inside, there were crates of guns and ammunition, lots of weapon manufacturing materials, and many crates of antiques, many of which had obvious traces of Hua Country’s civilization.

On the ground behind the iron door of the secret room, lay three people—it was indeed ng Xinian, Zhao Xin, and Dai Gang.

They were motionless, their faces sunken, eye sockets deeply recessed, and lips all cracked and dry, looking like three corpses.

And ng Xinian’s hand had a wound on it which was positioned at Zhao Xin’s mouth, at which place there were dried traces of blood.

“ng Xinian! Tyrant ng!”

The voice was so faint it was as if it ca from the edge of the sky.

But ng Xinian’s eyelids suddenly twitched.

“Tyrant ng! Brother Xinian! I know you’re here!”

ng Xinian’s lips moved.

He thought he had made a sound, but in reality, not a whisper ca out.

His throat was so dry that his vocal cords couldn’t make a sound, and he was too weak to produce any audible voice.

Chiang Xiao despondently sat down on a step in front of the dirt pile, not caring about the dirt, and leaned against the pile, feeling sowhat confused, powerless, and more terribly, hopeless.

He was supposed to be right here, she was supposed to be very close to him already, but yet she couldn’t find him no matter what.

What if he’s still holding on, what if this is the last bit of ti he’s clinging to?

What if she missed this chance, if she was within an arm’s reach that could save him, yet missed the opportunity, would she be able to bear it?

Chiang Xiao’s eyes grew hot, and her nose ached.

She took a deep breath, forcefully suppressing the urge to burst into tears.

No, she couldn’t give up like this!

Chiang Xiao stood up again.

She had to start over from the beginning, from entering the cave to the point where she could not go any further inside.

And just as she stood up, ng Xinian’s fingers moved, grabbing a small knife next to him and slowly stretching out his hand, the knife’s tip scraped across the surface of the next iron door.

The sound of tal engraving on tal, screeching, but very, very soft.
