"Don’t ss around."
"It’s alright, there are still a few months left. Can you keep holding back?"
It was Sun Chan’s first ti doing this, and her movents were slow. After trying for a while, she suddenly heard Gu Junming gasp.
Her face instantly turned red.
Gu Junming didn’t want his wife to do this, but he couldn’t resist the feeling. He couldn’t bring himself to tell her to let go, so he guided Sun Chan, moving along.
When they got up the next day, Sun Chan saw Gu Junming looking at her with a smiling face, blushing, she scoffed.
Gu Junming just chuckled.
Sun Chan quickly changed the topic: "Are you visiting relatives later?"
"Yes, you don’t have to go. I’ll go with my dad, and you can stay ho with Mom and watch TV."
At this ti, every household was setting off firecrackers, and Sun Chan was very unaccustod to it. Gu Junming covered her ears to prevent her from being startled. The two of them hugged each other quietly, feeling very happy.
Mrs. Wang wanted to call the two of them for breakfast, but when she saw this, she smiled, shook her head, and quickly left.
Father Wang ca over: "Invite them to eat, the buns are out of the pot."
"Shh, let them be for a while." Mrs. Wang smiled and happily pulled her husband away.
The couple had such a good relationship now, why disturb them? Better to let them enjoy their ti together.
In the next few days, Sun Chan was very happy. She didn’t have to go out; when soone visited, she would chat a bit. If no one ca, she would watch and paint, designing so drafts.
Before leaving, Father Wang and Wang Po were naturally reluctant, and they packed a lot of local specialties for Gu Junming to take back.
Mrs. Wang held Sun Chan’s hand, telling her how to raise a child, saying a lot in this manner.
"When the baby is born, Mom, you have to co and help ," Sun Chan laughed.
"Don’t worry. I understand! You take care of yourself." Although the Gu Family was her real in-laws, her mother-in-law had already passed away. Wang Guihua wouldn’t care for her, and her father-in-law couldn’t manage, so during the confinent period, she would have to be with her own family. Mrs. Wang thought this was great, as she could take care of Sun Chan and still see her girl.
Sun Chan again reminded her mother-in-law to take care of herself, and only then did she leave with Gu Junming. When they reached the doorway, a villager ca up, a neighbor of the Wang Family.
A man in his fifties, holding an envelope in his hand and smiling as he walked in.
"Are you leaving? I have sothing to ask you, please give it to my daughter."
"And this is..."
"My daughter’s na is Wan Yunhong. She just joined the army, and now she’s a dical soldier. This New Year, she has a task and can’t co back. We wrote her a letter, please help deliver it to her." He then gave him the details of the unit where Wan Yunhong was stationed.
It wasn’t too far from Gu Junming’s camp. He thought for a mont and didn’t recall any impression of Wang Yunhong, but it wasn’t a big deal, so he took it directly.
"Don’t worry, uncle. I’ll give it to her when I return."
"Thank you! I’m heading off first." The uncle smiled and turned to leave.
Back at ho, when he saw his wife looking at him eagerly, he shook his head: "No chance. Gu Junming is married, and his wife is pregnant."
His boss sighed: "Well, nothing to do then. Let it go."
It turns out they weren’t originally from this village, but only moved here recently. Their daughter had just turned eighteen this year; she was their child born late in life and was very cherished. She recently got into the army’s dical corps, which was quite encouraging.
They were thinking if she could find a good match in the army, they wouldn’t have much to worry about.
After considering around, their daughter ntioned Gu Junming. Although he was a bit older, he held a high rank, had a good background, and if she could be with him, there would definitely be no problems.
The couple initially didn’t agree, but Wan Yunhong said, "In the past, most leaders married dical soldiers, so with a twenty-year age difference. I’m not asking for soone young; I’m looking for soone with leadership ability. Gu Junming is great. Last ti he gained accolades during disaster relief and has connections with many high-ranking officials. His future is bound to be promising, and whether I can advance further in my career depends on him."
Wan Yunhong didn’t want to be just a regular housewife; she wanted to climb up, to beco soone of status. Although she’s just nineteen, she already had imnse ambition. For her, Gu Junming was just a stepping stone.
The Wan couple thought if their daughter could marry Gu Junming, they would be at ease. Wan Yunhong was so excellent, they couldn’t bear her marrying a farr upon returning.
However, after inquiring around, the villagers said Gu Junming had a partner. Initially, they harbored fantasies, hoping the rumors were inaccurate.
Even if he had a relationship, it might not work out; there’s always a chance things could fall apart.
Today, knowing he was leaving, they wanted to test the waters. Unexpectedly, they actually t his partner, who was pregnant, so any hope was dashed.
Mrs. Wan said, "You should socialize a bit, sohow let him take care of Honghong, find a good match for her."
"We can’t, we don’t even know him. If we make demands, I fear it might upset him."
"But we’re from the sa village..."
"Forget it." Father Wan waved his hand: "Did you forget what we heard about Su Miao? Gu Junming is a principled man and won’t go through backdoors. We better be honest."
Mrs. Wan thought, even if he’s married, without love, there’s still divorce. Didn’t I take soone else’s husband back in the day? It’s about who’s capable; the capable one wins. Mrs. Wan then asked if Sun Chan or Honghong was prettier.
"Honghong is prettier, but Sun Chan is not bad looking either," Father Wan said.
Mrs. Wan said, "Our Honghong is so beautiful, and she’s a soldier. Much better than girls from this village. Let’s see who wins in the end."
"Forget it! Honghong is a soldier now! If it really happens, she’ll have to retire, so don’t get involved!"
Mrs. Wan pursed her lips, thinking, "I know n well. If he wants to marry, nothing’s impossible. I’ll write Honghong another letter. Catching when the woman is pregnant, there’s no way to lose!"
Gu Junming had no idea that soone was plotting against him again. He was holding Sun Chan’s hand, carrying luggage with the other, leaving the village. This ti, he didn’t let Father Wang see them off, only letting them walk to the gate before leaving.
Gu Junming and Sun Chan left a day early on purpose to visit Wang Dan and also asked her to help buy sleeper tickets.
At the bus station, they saw Wang Dan waiting anxiously from a distance, even after all this ti. Wang Dan recognized Sun Chan at once and ca over smiling.
She was wearing a red cotton jacket, black pants, looking plump and healthy, very prosperous.
The two sisters were extrely happy to et: "Long ti no see, I’ve heard you’re doing well!"
