At this mont, Sun Chan handed a small bag to Gu Junming; "Inside is a thermos, you can store so hot water and drink sothing warm. Also, there are two bags of pickled vegetables, ten salted duck eggs, I’m just worried you might not eat well. There are so dicines too. For colds, digestive issues, and also eczema. There’s underwear in the bottom bag, so you can change often." You always have to deal with water, and Sun Chan couldn’t help but worry.

Gu Junming didn’t speak, holding Sun Chan’s hand. Actually, such dicines will be prepared by the authorities, but he fully understood Sun Chan’s intention. He was also very moved.

Sun Chan leaned against Gu Junming, reluctant to let him go, as they had only been married for two days.

Finally, it was ti to depart, and the two walked out hand in hand.

The vehicle in the yard was already loaded with quite a few people, spouses were there to send them off too.

It was Sun Chan’s first ti seeing so many military spouses, of all types and appearances, talking softly with their husbands, giving them advice.

Sun Chan saw Ai i up ahead, holding a bag and standing in front of Liu Gang. Neither spoke, Liu Gang wore a face of impatience, glancing at his watch from ti to ti. Ai i had red eyes and looked aggrieved but dared not say a word.

Liu Gang had lost all patience with his wife by now and wanted a divorce, but she threatened to kill herself. Even his leaders advised against it, while parents back ho eagerly pushed for divorce, leaving him helpless.

Ai i naturally knew Liu Gang’s thoughts. She wasn’t attractive, had no skills, and was getting on in years, but she really didn’t want a divorce. Returning to her village, she’d be ridiculed to death. How could she live? She had to cling to Liu Gang.

Finally, it was ti for departure, and everyone boarded the truck, regardless of their position, all standing inside. The truck bore red slogans: "Flood Rescue, United as One."

Though she tried to hold it in, Sun Chan still cried, quietly sobbing.

Gu Junming firmly held her shoulder, "Take care, wait for my return."

"Mm." Sun Chan bit her lip and said, "Please be careful, don’t be stubborn; if it doesn’t work out, just run. Don’t be foolish during rescues, thinking you can do wonders and save lives, but not care about yourself. You’d be dood."

Gu Junming couldn’t help but laugh, "Don’t worry, I only have one life, how could I dare to risk it?"

When it was ti to go, Gu Junming suddenly hugged Sun Chan and then climbed into the vehicle directly.

Sun Chan watched the vehicle quickly depart, feeling sowhat hollow inside.

Other military spouses also left in small groups, and the atmosphere was very oppressive, with no one speaking. Their husbands had left, with no certainty of return, on such dangerous missions, there weren’t any jokes to be made.

When Sun Chan returned, Ai i caught up with her, "Sis, co sit at my place."

"Ah?" Sun Chan was stunned.

Ai i seed embarrassed, then said, "Forget it, I’m just feeling down and wanted to talk. I’ll head back."

She finished speaking and then walked away briskly.

Sun Chan knew her feelings, probably wanted an outlet for her mood, but they were unfamiliar with each other, not knowing what to say.

Sun Chan entered an empty house, thinking of being together with Gu Junming just yesterday, feeling even more dismayed. She didn’t want to stay, locked the door and went back.

Wang Shufen was tidying up; after the wedding, the house was a ss, with peanut shells scattered everywhere and lots of shredded colored paper, cleaning up till now had only just improved.

Her son was in class, she planned to take down the sheets and covers; there were many people that day, a lot brought children, she didn’t know who had stepped on sothing dirty. They needed a good wash.

There was a knock at the door, Wang Shufen went to open it, seeing Sun Chan standing there, tears streaming, so Wang Shufen hurriedly pulled her in.

"Brother left?"

Sun Chan nodded, wiping away tears, "I feel terrible, I don’t want to stay there."

"Then don’t stay. We can live here for a few days. Cheer up, you’ve just gotten married, parting now must be hard, but when Gu Junming returns, make him make it up to you well." Wang Shufen advised.

Wang Shufen comforted Sun Chan for a long ti, finally calming her down, feeling upset herself. This flood had really co at the wrong ti.

She resolved to cheer up Sun Chan. After tidying the house, she went to the kitchen to cook many delicious dishes—fried atballs, fried dough slices, and siu mai, various big dishes only eaten during New Year’s, so she could eat more and feel happier.

Sun Chan truly liked it, and even took much to her grandfather.

Yang Xiong hadn’t tasted authentic farm cuisine in years, enjoying heartily, and kept Sun Chan over for two days.

Other Yang Zhen and her family tried their best to cheer Sun Chan up, and so by the ti school began, Sun Chan gradually felt better.

She never stayed in the military spouses’ quarters, but being newlyweds made her a topic of conversation in the village.

Everyone felt this young girl was capable, looking good, and her house decor was so beautiful. Gu Junming was lucky.

So said, she was a granddaughter of the Yang family, thus and so.

Only then did they know she was sisters with Yang Yun. Because of Yang Yun’s jealousy, things erupted causing her to ruin her own face, and so on, spreading wildly. Curiosity about this new wife increased.

So even said she was a big boss of sorts, with thoughts of seeking favors or borrowing money.

Sun Chan yet didn’t return, with her school being too far from here, and without Gu Junming there, she didn’t want to live there.

After returning to class, Wu Qiong suddenly treated her well, asking questions, expressing concern, surprising her classmates, leaving Sun Chan puzzled—what was going on?

Liu Enming solved the mystery, "Her father has taken a liking to Yan Kai. Your husband is close to Yan Kai."

Sun Chan nodded, understanding. Yet she wouldn’t ddle, as she was not close to Wu Qiong and wouldn’t play matchmaker, especially since Yan Kai repeatedly expressed no interest in finding a partner currently.

"Wu Qiong has high expectations but is not very likable. Not only brainless, there’s a bit of willfulness and sass; n rarely like such personalities. Even if soone wanted to marry her, it’d be with ulterior motives." Liu Enming spoke honestly.

Sun Chan didn’t say anything, just smiled.

When Wu Qiong approached again, Sun Chan smiled and said, "I don’t really have any skills, do you want to do sothing? If I can help, I certainly will, but if I can’t, don’t be upset."

"Actually, it’s nothing much." Wu Qiong smiled, "I know with you and Yan Kai..."

Sun Chan interrupted her, smiling, "I really am not that familiar with Yan Kai, and they’re all off on flood rescue missions. We can’t see each other now, they’re really busy."
