Sun Chan looked indifferent, without a trace of fear. The girls, seeing her like this, got even angrier.
"Looks like she still doesn’t know what’s good for her! Let’s teach her a lesson together!" They all rushed over, ready to pull hair and fight, and so even tried to snatch her purse.
But just as they charged, they were stopped. The girls felt as if their arms were squeezed by pliers, completely unable to move.
"Let us go, who are you?" They struggled, looked back, and were all frightened.
It turned out there were about seventeen or eighteen soldiers standing behind them, all looking at the girls seriously. They were tall and imposing, clearly not to be ssed with, and leading them was Gu Juntao.
Sun Chan was quite shocked; she hadn’t expected her brother-in-law to bring so many people to back her up?
The girls initially wanted to fight, but soon realized their combat power was too weak. A few firm hits felt like re scratches, completely ineffective. The slightest squeeze from the soldiers left them in tears, quickly making them behave.
The leader said tremblingly, "What do you want?"
Gu Juntao said, "Shouldn’t I be asking that? What do you want? This lady is our leader’s fiancée; offending her ans offending our unit. You caused a ruckus yesterday, and our sister-in-law didn’t say anything, yet you dared to act up again today! You’ll just have to go to the unit!"
Another young soldier said, "Exactly! So brazen, thinking you’re sothing special? Sister-in-law don’t worry, we’ll send these girls to the military court and lock them up for a few years."
The girls paled in fear: "What did you say? Court...court?"
"Yes, make you feel the consequences of bullying people!" Gu Juntao snapped coldly.
"No! We don’t want to go to jail!" The girls cried in fear, and one even knelt to Sun Chan. They only wanted to imitate the thugs they saw on TV, never really intending to do anything bad. Now hearing about sentencing, their lives seed ruined.
Sun Chan, seeing how frightened the girls were, felt sympathy and looked at Gu Juntao: "Let them go if they realize their mistakes."
"Yes, we really were wrong, truly wrong, we’ll never dare again!"
The leading girl also cried: "I was really wrong, will never act up again, nor ask for money! Sister, please say a word for us!" She pleaded with Sun Chan.
Sun Chan looked at Gu Juntao: "Let them go. I don’t bla them anymore. They are just kids; I won’t make things difficult."
Actually, so were older than Sun Chan herself, but having lived two lifetis, she was considered mature.
Gu Juntao sneered: "Alright, for my sister-in-law’s sake, I’ll give you a chance. Write a self-criticism, detailing what you’ve done. This ti it will be forgotten; next ti, I’ll take you and the letter straight to her. See how your lives turn out."
"Got it." The girls, unwilling but helpless, squatted down and borrowed paper and pens from each other to write their self-criticisms. So wrote while crying, feeling very wronged.
Sun Chan saw the leader crying the hardest and thought, what’s there to feel wronged about? I’ve already spared you once, and you’re still acting up.
Gu Juntao, far from showing sympathy, made his soldiers narrate the girls’ actions to the passersby. The surrounding people all gossiped, disapproving of the girls.
They felt ashad, lowering their heads.
Gu Juntao said, "Realized your mistakes now? Who made you do such things? Not getting arrested is already lucky. Hurry and write!"
Once the girls finally finished their self-criticisms, Gu Juntao collected them, glancing casually before giving a scare.
"Alright, this matter is settled; one more slip-up, and we’ll show no rcy!"
The girls all agreed quickly and ran away.
Sun Chan hurriedly thanked the soldiers: "Really, thank you all so much this ti. Thank you, thank you."
"No need to be polite, sister-in-law!" These people were all old friends of Gu Juntao, and knowing our sister-in-law had issues, they’d naturally co without hesitation.
Sun Chan smiled: "I’ll treat you all to dinner, then."
"No, we have to head back; our break’s nearly over." They declined together, just a small matter, what dinner?
Gu Juntao bid farewell to his friends, then comforted Sun Chan for a bit: "I’m headed back then. My wife is waiting for ."
"Alright. Let’s have dinner together soti." Sun Chan was much friendlier to Gu Juntao, feeling unfamiliar and thus reserved with the soldiers, but she smiled warmly.
Gu Juntao nodded with a smile, noticing so strands of hair on Sun Chan’s arm, likely from the scuffle, and quickly helped her remove them.
At this mont, Yang Yun, in the car with Father Yang, saw Sun Chan and Gu Juntao chatting and laughing, witnessing their apparent closeness, making Yang Yun sneer.
"See? With Gu Junming not around, this woman’s so shaless!"
Father Yang said, "It’s not appropriate. Gu Junming, no matter what, is a soldier, and she, as a military spouse, creates such a scene?"
"Let’s go catch them in the act. See what face Gu Junming has left!"
"Watch what you’re saying, kid," Father Yang thought likewise but couldn’t outright say it: "We’re letting Gu Junming realize this person’s true colors sooner, not making wild accusations."
"Got it," Yang Yun sulked; anyway, once this blows up, Gu Junming loses face too!
The car arrived and stopped, Yang Yun quickly got out. Gu Juntao and Sun Chan were walking aside, still chatting.
Gu Juntao, now discharged, didn’t have a car and took the bus.
Sun Chan smiled: "Do you have change? I’ll get your bus ticket!"
"No, I have it." He reached to hold Sun Chan’s arm, preventing her from paying, making their interaction appear even closer.
Yang Yun approached: "Hey! What’s going on here? In broad daylight, not being cautious with your behavior!"
Sun Chan and Gu Juntao jumped in surprise, turning to look, not recognizing Yang Yun: "Who’s this?"
Sun Chan quietly explained, rembering this unreasonable girl, especially since last ti grabbing soone, she clashed with Gu Junming. Gu Junming had also told her afterward.
Gu Juntao nodded: "So she’s from the Yang Family? Heard long ago, unreasonable. Very harsh."
