At noon, Gu Ruhai drove Li Xuei, Li Qinghai, and Liu Fen to the hospital.

Han Xue waited until the evening to take over the shift.

Soone needs to accompany the inpatient.

Brought along many things.

A basin, a thermos, and slippers — all the items Li Xuei prepared were taken along.

The thermos contained dumplings in a lunchbox and a pot of chicken soup, freshly made by Li Xuei.

A new pot was already being prepared at ho. Gu Ruhai instructed Gu Xiaoqing to call the vendor who regularly supplies their family and ask them to deliver two old hens to the house every day, so they could boil them for soup.

Han Qi and Wu Fengying finally learned about the situation from Jianguo and Jianhui.

Han Qi was startled. Since marrying into the Li Family, she had been demanding a family division, but Li Weimin suppressed it, saying that the family couldn’t be divided because the old man and woman hadn’t divided it between the two brothers, so why should it be divided at the grandson level?

Thus, Han Qi could never control this family; spending decisions had to follow Li Weimin’s arrangents. Now that Li Zhaodi was ill, Han Qi imdiately thought about it.

This family was bound to beco chaotic.

Li Weimin would certainly not have ti to consider the store business now. Han Qi imdiately realized that Jianguo could manipulate things in the store and at the very least, secure so extra benefits for their small household.

Moreover, even if they couldn’t make much money this ti, if the old lady passed away, what could Li Qinghai do but accept the division of the family?

Anyway, Han Qi’s mind was focused on this.

She wished to take this opportunity to get the Gu Family Spicy Hot Pot under her control.

However, Han Qi glanced at the door opposite, knowing she had to hide all her emotions and wait for the best mont.

Wu Fengying was also grumbling in the room.

"What’s going on? How did grandma get so seriously ill? I’m pregnant and I hoped to stay well cared for at aunt’s ho; but now, who can care about and my unborn child?"

Muttering, she stuffed her mouth with snacks, the kind Gu Xiaojie usually loved, such as milk candies and puffed rice sweets.

Upon hearing, Jianhui got angry, slamd the table without saying a word, but the sound startled Wu Fengying.

Seeing Jianhui’s apparent anger, she knew Jianhui and Jianguo were brought up by Li Zhaodi, their feelings for her were different, and her words had surely upset Li Jianhui.

She imdiately held her belly, letting out a yell.

Jianhui nervously ca over and asked, "What’s wrong?"

Wu Fengying said sowhat delicately, "The baby just kicked ."

Li Jianhui sat in front of Wu Fengying, with one arm around her shoulders and the other touching her belly gently. His expression softened considerably.

"Fengying, you should never say such things again. You have parents and relatives, and you’ll soon be a mother. Caring for your children is a matter of heart and wholehearted devotion. You should understand that my grandma is ill and very sick now, hospitalised—whether she gets better or not is uncertain.

I feel very sad. Grandma raised my brother and I by herself and loved us dearly. Whenever there was good food at ho, she saved it for us. Back then, every household drank thin porridge. Each year, after the flour was saved, she would steam buns for New Year. In those days, only strong laborers like our grandpa and father received a full one; we, the kids, only got half.

Yet, every ti, grandma would save hers to let my brother and I eat secretly. Sotis, when we were too hungry to bear it, grandma would take my brother and to the hills to catch birds, dig bird nests, grill bird at, cook eggs for us. Those were the happiest tis we spent with grandma.

She’s sick, and I feel really sad. Your words make feel worse. Don’t say them again, okay? Besides, it’s not good for the child. Do you want the child to grow up thinking about us elders like this?"

Wu Fengying moved emotionally closer in Jianhui’s arms saying, "Jianhui, I was wrong. I’ll never say such things again. You should concentrate on caring for grandma at the hospital. The baby and I are fine at aunt’s ho, good food, good stay, don’t worry.

In the future, when the baby is born, I will join you in caring for grandma, ensuring she can see our child grow up, okay?"

Such tender words moved Li Jianhui, although Wu Fengying wasn’t as gentle as imagined. Initially, she would occasionally make a fuss with him, as hard to deal with as Han Qi.

However, after several confrontations, Li Jianhui’s strong stance and firm position against injustice, along with an uncompromising determination, made Wu Fengying realize her husband wasn’t soone she could easily manipulate.

Partners need to align properly for life to proceed well; as long as the big issues hold no problems, Li Jianhui overlooks minor grievances and views.

Overall, Li Jianhui is a good husband, and so Wu Fengying put away the crooked teachings from her parents and devoted herself to life with Li Jianhui.

It’s why Li Jianhui treated Wu Fengying well; the couple had their own way of getting along.

Li Jianhui’s thoughts turned back to Li Zhaodi.

At the hospital, Li Zhaodi’s side was indeed chaotic.

Because Li Zhaodi stubbornly insisted on returning ho, the hospital’s disinfectant sll was unbearable for her. She said it resembled a dead person’s scent, clamoring to be discharged and go ho.

Li Xuei and Liu Fen couldn’t persuade her, and at this point, Li Qinghai and Gu Ruhai were also frustrated. The old woman wouldn’t listen no matter what.

Gu Xiaoqing happened to be out buying fruit.

When Gu Xiaoqing entered the ward with a large bag of fruit, she saw Li Zhaodi angrily standing in the doorway, blocked by Li Qinghai and Gu Ruhai, with Li Xuei and Liu Fen holding her.

"What’s going on?"

Gu Xiaoqing took a look and knew Li Zhaodi wanted to go ho.

But she pretended not to know and asked anyway.

Then placed the bag of fruit on the bedside table.

Took Li Zhaodi’s arm, sat her on the bed, and peeled an orange to offer her.

Gesturing to Li Xuei and the others, she sat herself down on the chair by the bedside.
