"What, suicide?" Xu Nian’an didn’t agree with Xu Nianhua going to South City in the first place, and now he disagreed even more. Xu Nianhua thought like this as she returned to her room, planning to sleep again. Ji Ying followed her in and lay down on her bed.
Slightly embarrassed upon being seen by Xu Nianhua, Ji Ying said, "Nianhua, I want to sleep with you. You don’t mind, do you?"
Ji Ying spoke cautiously, afraid that Xu Nianhua would refuse.
"Of course not." Xu Nianhua’s smile grew brighter. She knew her mom was worried about her and couldn’t sleep.
Once the lights were off, the room was pitch black, and only the sound of breathing remained.
Xu Nianhua turned sideways, hugging Ji Ying’s arm, and said, "Mom, you’re really good."
"Silly girl, I’m your mom. If I’m not good to you, to whom should I be good?" Ji Ying’s nose soured. Even though she couldn’t see Xu Nianhua, hugging her arm like this felt just like when she was little. In her heart, her daughter hadn’t changed at all.
"Mom." Xu Nianhua snuggled against her arm, feeling incredibly at ease.
"Yes."
"Mom." Xu Nianhua called again.
Ji Ying didn’t ask anything, responding, "Yes."
"Mom."
"Yes."
In the darkness, the smile on Xu Nianhua’s face grew even brighter. She said, "Mom, do you think I’m really the Gu Family’s daughter? Were I really found under the Big Locust Tree? Could I have been switched?"
Xu Nianhua let her thoughts run wild. She genuinely didn’t want to belong to the Gu Family.
"If I were Mom’s biological daughter, that would be great. Maybe so evil doctor switched with Mom’s biological daughter. Then Fang Yue rejected and abandoned , right?"
The more Xu Nianhua thought, the more her thoughts jumped quickly!
There were so many TV dramas in the future about switched babies and mistaken identities. Having watched so many of them, maybe she had been swapped too?
Ji Ying stroked her soft hair. She wished Nianhua were her biological daughter, but unfortunately, she wasn’t. Her daughter, she had watched being born with her own eyes and hadn’t looked away for a second; the child had never left her sight.
