"You think being rich makes you special? South City is my ho, why should I leave?" Zhao Xiu was furious. Jiang Jing inexplicably wanted to repay her, to compensate her, but Gu Mingzhu insulted her with money, wanting her to leave South City.
Her family had been in South City for generations. She grew up in South City; it was her ho. Why should she leave here? To go to an unfamiliar place?
All she did was save soone, at the cost of her own leg. She didn’t want to bla anyone anymore, but Gu Mingzhu couldn’t be this overbearing.
"Seven thousand." Gu Mingzhu ignored Zhao Xiu’s anger, increasing the amount again and again.
"Ten thousand, enough for you to build a new house several tis better than this one in the countryside." Gu Mingzhu sized up the Zhao Family, the disdain in her eyes not even trying to hide itself.
"Jiang Jing, if I could do it over, I’d rather have never saved you!"
Zhao Xiu’s gaze moved past Gu Mingzhu. If it weren’t for the fact that Gu Mingzhu was a pregnant woman about to give birth, she would have rushed forward to fight her!
Hearing Jiang Jing’s na, Gu Mingzhu froze for a mont before saying, "You don’t have to use Brother Jing against . If Brother Jing knew, he would think the sa as I do."
"Gu Mingzhu!"
Jiang Jing originally intended to co back and arrange for Zhao Xiu to go to the hospital to recheck her leg. But unexpectedly, he found not only Gu Mingzhu at Zhao Xiu’s ho but also a completely unfamiliar Gu Mingzhu.
Jiang Jing had never thought that such a contemptuous and disdainful expression could appear on the face of his gentle and virtuous wife.
"Zhao Xiu, I didn’t an that. I promised you I would take you to treat your leg, and I will keep my word."
After Jiang Jing spoke, he stepped forward, pulling Gu Mingzhu with him to leave. Even in anger, he maintained a sliver of rationality, considering that she was still pregnant.
"Jiang Jing!"
From the mont Jiang Jing appeared to being pulled away by him, Gu Mingzhu slowly reacted. She wanted to shake off Jiang Jing’s hand, but he held her tightly, making it impossible for her to let go, leaving her with no choice but to follow Jiang Jing away.
"My stomach, my stomach hurts." Gu Mingzhu clutched her belly, frowning, looking visibly uncomfortable.
Jiang Jing’s steps imdiately ca to a halt. Seeing her appearance, his anger quickly turned into worry, as he asked, "Is your stomach hurting? Are you going to give birth?"
"Brother Jing, I’ll be fine after resting a bit." Gu Mingzhu leaned against him, offering her explanation, "Brother Jing, listen to . I just wanted Zhao Xiu to have a better life. You see, her house lacks things and should have so new additions, maybe even a new house, right?"
Gu Mingzhu didn’t know how much Jiang Jing had heard, but at this mont, she just wanted to explain if she could.
Jiang Jing lowered his head, looking at Gu Mingzhu’s face. Although it was the sa face, she felt unfamiliar to him.
Gu Mingzhu’s heart kept sinking. Initially, she was just faking the stomachache, but now she felt a real, vague pain.
"Mingzhu, Zhao Xiu once saved . I want to help her treat her leg." Jiang Jing didn’t want to argue about his lifesaver nor about Gu Mingzhu’s other side. He just wanted to speak the truth and state the outco.
"Brother Jing, she saved you, and that ans she saved too. It’s not just about treating her leg; I’d be willing to help build her house and provide her wedding dowry as well." Sweat began to gather on Gu Mingzhu’s forehead. She couldn’t tell if it was the stomach pain or her tense emotions causing her discomfort.
"Is that so?" Jiang Jing softly questioned, uncertain. If he hadn’t heard the earlier conversation, maybe he would have believed her.
