"Knock knock knock."
The door sounded, and Li Xiuying loudly asked, "Who is it?"
She dragged herself weakly to the door, and upon hearing Xu Nianhua’s voice from the other side, she excitedly hurried to open it, imdiately slling the aroma of food.
"My brother said you didn’t have dinner, so he asked to bring you sothing tasty." Xu Nianhua raised the thermos in her hand and, seeing Li Xiuying still in her pretty dress with ssy hair and slling of alcohol, added, "Hurry and take a shower, then you can enjoy the food later."
"Okay."
Li Xiuying quickly ran to shower, and after getting freshened up, the discomfort from being drunk was much alleviated.
At the dining table, Xu Nianhua took out the dishes from the thermos, layer by layer: stir-fried pork with green peppers, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, stir-fried cucumber with ham, and a seaweed soup. She explained, "I only found out from my brother last minute, so I didn’t prepare anything particularly lavish."
"Delicious, absolutely delicious." Li Xiuying had only been drinking at noon with nothing much to eat, and she was starving by evening. She felt so hungry she could eat a whole cow. Not to ntion the al of three dishes and one soup, even soy sauce on rice would have been enough for two bowls.
Quickly finishing her al, Li Xiuying leaned half-heartedly on the chair, chatting with Xu Nianhua intermittently.
"You drank at noon. Did you and my brother... well, do anything?" Xu Nianhua, supporting her chin with one hand, rembered the earlier sll of alcohol. Isn’t it said that after drinking... things happen? Did she and Brother Yan get a little closer, breaking the ice?
"I didn’t even see your brother’s shadow."
Li Xiuying, upon bringing it up, said angrily, "I drank with Qin Kai at noon and didn’t see your brother at all. I feel like your brother probably doesn’t like ."
Li Xiuying’s expression suddenly turned gloomy.
"Impossible, if you didn’t see my brother, how did you get ho?" Xu Nianhua countered.
Li Xiuying looked at her in confusion and said, "Maybe Qin Kai sent back?"
"I’ll ask him." Li Xiuying hurried to the phone, so urgently that she almost tripped, and Xu Nianhua cautioned from the side, "Be careful."
Soon, Li Xiuying contacted Qin Kai, but he seed busy and hung up after a brief conversation.
Li Xiuying grinned.
Xu Nianhua, seeing this, asked with a smile, "So, was I wrong? Wasn’t it my Brother Yan who sent you back?"
"Yes, but why can’t I rember any of it?" Li Xiuying patted her head, trying hard to recall, but couldn’t rember a thing.
"Sigh."
Li Xiuying sighed, feeling extrely uneasy.
"Relax, my brother sending you back is a good thing. It shows that he cares about you, doesn’t it?" Xu Nianhua consoled her with a jumble of reassurances until the evening when Pei Yicheng ca to pick her up, and she finally left.
"Brother Cheng, what do you think my brother is up to?"
Xu Nianhua was troubled. It was all on Li Xiuying being infatuated; when would she finally get to have a sister-in-law?
Three days later, Xu Nianhua found out what Su Yan was up to.
"You’re proposing?" Xu Nianhua looked at Su Yan in disbelief. This was way too fast; they weren’t even officially dating, yet he was proposing...
Xu Nianhua pointed out, "Brother Yan, you two aren’t even in a relationship."
"She and I have done everything a couple would do." Su Yan’s words left Xu Nianhua so shocked her mouth could swallow an egg.
