Chapter 691: Chapter 691 Doctor
“No, I wouldn’t have known if your foster father hadn’t told ,” Madam Xie said, looking down at the red rash that had covered her palms. She found it strange that she didn’t feel any discomfort at all.
“What did you eat today? Do you rember?”
Madam Xie thought for a mont, “The food I ate today wasn’t any different from usual, and besides, I ate with you all.”
Mo Xiaoqiang helped her sit down on a stool, “Oh dear! Don’t talk anymore. You must be tired from organizing gifts all day. Co on, I’ll help you back to your room to rest for a while. Let’s have Xuexue report to the General and ask a Doctor to co take a look.”
Madam Xie gave an unconcerned smile, “It’s just a small sickness, no need for a Doctor. I’ll be fine after lying down for a few days.”
Xuexue turned to Mo Xiaoqiang and said, “Foster father, help mother to lie down in her room. I’ll imdiately send for the Doctor.”
Mo Xiaoqiang: “Eh, alright!”
“Xuexue, this is just a trivial matter for mother; no need to disturb the General Lord,” Madam Xie felt it was very embarrassing to live in soone else’s house and trouble them to call for a Doctor.
Having lived in the General’s Mansion for a long period in her past life, Xuexue knew the mansion well and was aware that there was a Doctor specifically for treating the Masters of the house.
“There’s a Doctor in the mansion, so mother just rest at ease. After all, they’re idle anyway.”
Having a Doctor in a large household was indeed different, Madam Xie thought with a sigh, “Alright then, mother will listen to what you say.”
Xuexue instructed a Maid to invite the mansion’s Doctor over.
The Maid acknowledged and hurried out.
Soon, the Maid returned, followed by a man in his early thirties, looking refined and gentle, very much like a scholar with a fair complexion. If not for the dicine chest on his shoulder, one might have thought he was a Scholar on his way to exams.
He checked Madam Xie’s pulse quickly, then took out a brush and swiftly wrote down a long list of items on a piece of paper, handing it to Xuexue, “Miss, do not worry. The madam has simply eaten sothing wrong and had an allergic reaction. A few doses of dicine and a few days’ rest should see her well.”
Having said that, he handed a prescription to Xuexue.
Xuexue took it, glanced at it naturally, and paused at several drug nas, “Doctor, are you sure this prescription is correct?”
Upon hearing this, the Doctor’s face imdiately darkened, “Miss, what do you an by that? Are you doubting my dical skill? Let
tell you, I have been in the General’s Mansion for many years, and my dical skill is widely recognized.”
Xuexue, impassive, nodded, “Okay then.”
She turned and handed the prescription to the Maid, “Quickly go get the dicine and prepare it.”
“Yes, Miss,” the Maid took the prescription and hurried out again.
Though there was a Doctor in the mansion, the pharmacy was not always fully stocked with dicines, so so had to be purchased from outside.
The Maid soon brought the dicine back, brewed it in the kitchen, poured it into a small bowl on a tray, and took it to Madam Xie’s room to administer the dicine.
Mo Xiaoqiang saw the Maid bringing the dicine and quickly ca forward, “Oh! Finally, there’s dicine to drink. Give it to
quickly, I’ll feed it to my wife.”
Just then, Xuexue approached, “Foster father, you must be tired from looking after mother. Go rest now; I’ll take care of her.”
Xuexue brought the dicine to the bedside, sat on a stool, and slowly stirred it with a spoon, speaking calmly to the several Maids in the room, “All of you go out. Don’t disturb mother’s rest.”
