Chapter 679: Chapter 679: Furious and Angry

Xuexue welcod several old maids into the room and cooperated in having her asurents taken.

One of the old maids responsible for recording the asurents, holding a notebook, was scribbling away. Xuexue glanced over unintentionally and saw many asurents already written down, prompting her to ask curiously, “Who else is having clothes made besides ?”

“Replying to the Second Miss, these are the asurents of Second Miss.” Since Xiao Ting’s incident, the servants in the mansion dared not underestimate Xuexue, fearing that a careless mistake might turn them into another Xiao Ting.

After Xiao Ting was beaten with fifty sticks, although she was not expelled from the General’s Mansion, she was completely broken, and the doctor explicitly stated that Xiao Ting would never be able to stand again in her lifeti.

Lady Tang was shocked upon hearing this and upon further inquiry, she learned that during the execution, two sticks had struck the waist, breaking Xiao Ting’s spine, condemning her to a life spent in bed.

Lady Tang, both angry and upset, dared not confront Situ Yongjie to argue her case, so she could only arrange for servants to take care of Xiao Ting and plan to see if there would be any improvent after so ti.

Xuexue knew very well that it was only a matter of ti, whether today or tomorrow, before Madam Tang would co asking her to take Situtu Qinger into the Imperial Palace.

From her past life’s signs, Lady Tang was a very calculative woman; from the first day she returned to the mansion, she started scheming against her.

“Oh! Is the Second Miss also entering the Imperial Palace?” Xuexue pretended to know nothing.

The old maids, without any wariness, said, “Judging from Madam’s tone, it seems likely.”

Upon hearing this, Xuexue scoffed secretly, thinking, if I don’t bring you, I’d like to see how you can get in. Reborn once, she was not so easily fooled.

After the old maids finished taking the asurents, they hurriedly left.

Indeed, the very tiger they feared most lived in this yard! Moreover, it was a free-range kind, who knew if that tiger would appear in front of them the next second.

This kind of scare was too thrilling for them; it was better to leave early.

In the evening, Lady Tang, followed by five or six maids, each carrying gifts, ca to Qingyuo Pavilion with a beaming smile.

The door was opened by Madam Xie. Seeing Lady Tang visit personally scared her quite a bit. She had seen Lady Tang more than a decade ago when she was just a lowly servant. Naturally, Lady Tang had no recollection of her.

“Madam, I wish you peace and prosperity!” Madam Xie greeted her with a bow.

“No need for such formalities. You are Xuexue’s foster mother!” Lady Tang was surprised that this woman from the Nong family understood the etiquette of major households and thought more highly of her for it.

“Indeed!” Madam Xie felt uneasy under her probing gaze.

Lady Tang withdrew her gaze and asked, “Is Xuexue inside?”

“Yes! We just had dinner, and everyone is resting in the house.”

“Good, I have so business with her.”

“Madam, please co in,” said Madam Xie, bowing respectfully as she invited Lady Tang inside.

Seeing Madam Xie lower herself so humbly and be so respectful, Lady Tang felt pleased with herself and entered with her head held high and a sense of superiority.

Xuexue and Chuner were playing when they looked up and saw Lady Tang entering, followed by several maids holding gifts.

“Stepmother, why have you brought so many people? What’s the matter?” Xuexue knew very well that Lady Tang must be intending to offer so small gifts to win her over, to bring Situtu Qinger into the Imperial Palace and introduce her to several princes.
