Chapter 263: Chapter 263 Uncomfortable
That night, since the Mo family had spent the afternoon eating and drinking at their house, they had consud all the vegetables in the house.
The vegetables were gone, and Xuexue could understand that, but the rice in the rice jar and a bag of flour, totaling over a hundred pounds, had mysteriously disappeared, which puzzled her greatly. “Mother, where are our rice and flour? I rember we just bought them a few days ago, right?”
“Well…, you see…” Madam Xie hesitated, her gaze wandering.
Old Lady Mo had already instructed Mo Daoyan and Madam Ruan to move these items back to the Mo family. She had been holding back from saying anything, fearing that Xuexue would make a scene at the Mo family’s house, which would lead to unpleasant gossip among the local busybodies.
Seeing her mother’s shivering deanor, Xuexue knew it must have been the Mo family who had taken them. “Mother, was it Grandmother who took them away?”
“Ah!” Madam Xie lowered her head and softly acknowledged with a sound.
“So what are we going to eat tonight? We have nothing left at ho; everything has been cleared out by those people from the Mo family.” Xuexue said helplessly, thinking her mother was too ek, having been bullied to this extent without saying a word.
“Mother, Mother, I’m hungry.” Just then, Chuner, who had been playing outside, ca back.
Madam Xie, looking distressed, didn’t know how to respond to her younger daughter.
“What’s wrong? Hasn’t it been cooked yet? No worries, Mother, I can help make the fire,” Chuner said understandingly.
Seeing Madam Xie’s distressed face, Xuexue couldn’t bring herself to bla her.
“Chuner, are you hungry?” Xuexue squatted down, held Chuner’s hand, and asked gently.
“Hmm!” Chuner nodded her head and added, “Xiao Gougou and I were running around outside, running so much made
hungry.”
“The rice at ho is all gone, I’ll go borrow so and cook it for you, okay?”
“Hmm.” Chuner nodded sensibly.
“Big Bull, let’s go out and take a walk,” Xuexue shouted to Big Bull, who was splitting wood in the courtyard.
“Ay! Wife, I’m coming!” Big Bull threw down his hatchet and ca over.
“Xuexue, where are you going?” Madam Xie worried they might cause trouble at the Mo family’s house.
“Isn’t our house out of rice? We can’t just starve, can we? We’re going to borrow so rice to get through tonight, and then we’ll buy so more from the town tomorrow,” Xuexue and Big Bull replied as they walked out.
“Ouch!”
Just as they stepped out the door, Xuexue tripped on a protruding stone on the path and was about to fall, but Big Bull quickly stretched out his long arms and caught her in his embrace. In the chaos, they sohow ended up kissing each other.
When Xuexue realized what had happened, her eyes suddenly widened, her heart pounding fiercely as she quickly pushed Big Bull away and wiped her lips with her hand.
Completely unnoticed, a gleam flashed through Big Bull’s eyes, not at all indicative of the simple-minded.
“Wife, you taste so sweet,” Big Bull licked his lips, lingering on the mont.
The mont her lips touched Big Bull’s, Xuexue felt her heart might jump out of her chest. To cover her embarrassnt, she scolded, “Sweet? It’s not edible. If we don’t hurry now, we’ll go to bed hungry tonight.”
“If my wife would kiss
every day, I’d willingly go without food.” His tone was silly but sounded incredibly seductive.
She had actually been flirted with by a fool.
“Okay! A kiss every day, and I’ll save on rice; seems like a good deal to .” Not willing to be outdone by a fool, Xuexue shot back, thinking to herself that Big Bull wasn’t so sharp and might forget by tomorrow.
