Chapter 46: Chapter 46 A Family of Bootlickers
Ji Zeqiu had only a short break before he had to rush back to the film set the next day.
With several nannies at ho, Lin Xu finally didn’t have to endure hunger while waiting for the takeout, so her mood had been very pleasant these days.
She even made a trip to Ji Group to visit Ji Tingyang.
“Since that guy isn’t at ho, you might as well move back into the villa,” he urged.
Lin Xu was determined to reconcile the relationship between the two brothers; if she went back, she definitely wanted to bring Ji Zeqiu along. Since her goal hadn’t been achieved yet, she didn’t want to return for the ti being.
So she changed the subject, “Are you hungry, want to go eat?”
Breakfast hadn’t even fully digested yet, and Ji Tingyang’s stomach wasn’t hungry. Normally, he wouldn’t even go for lunch.
But hearing the aning in Lin Xu’s words, as if she wanted to have lunch with him, Ji Tingyang, fearing she might change her mind if he hesitated, imdiately responded, “I’m hungry.”
“Then let’s go to Flaming Lily Restaurant. I haven’t had their food in a long ti and I’m really craving it,” Lin Xu muttered as she walked outside.
Ji Tingyang stood up, not caring that it wasn’t yet lunch break, and grabbed his coat from the back of the chair to follow her.
Seeing the workaholic CEO suddenly leaving early, his secretary went from being surprised at first to not even batting an eye later.
Without a doubt, it was Miss Lin’s visit.
Flaming Lily Restaurant was a well-known restaurant in town, always bustling with custors, and reservations for dining were backed up a month.
However, Ji Tingyang had a private room that he could use at any ti.
“How many tis has it been, deducting the spilled food from your salary!”
“What right do you have to deduct my salary, believe it or not I’ll file a complaint!”
On her way back from the restroom, Lin Xu heard intense arguing in the corridor.
Looking in the direction of the voices, she saw a strikingly beautiful girl, furiously retaliating.
The middle-aged man seed to have never encountered such an unreasonable employee, his chest heaving rapidly as he gasped, “Because I’m the manager! You’re fired starting now, get out!”
“Fire then, I don’t fancy your lousy job!” the girl snatched off her na tag from her chest and threw it to the ground, continuing to berate relentlessly, “This crummy restaurant, even if you beg, I won’t co to dine! Neither will my family!”
The na tag tumbled on the ground, and the sunlight outside reflected off it, dazzling Lin Xu’s eyes.
She looked down at the tag, which had the na “Ji Yuqiao” written in flowing script.
An unfamiliar na, but upon seeing the Ji surna, she briefly lost herself in thought—what a coincidence to share the sa surna with them.
The man, hearing Ji Yuqiao’s words, rolled his eyes. Her part-ti salary for a month wouldn’t even cover one al here, could she afford it? He muttered under his breath, “No princess life but full of princess symptoms,” and turned away.
This was an internal conflict among the restaurant’s staff, Lin Xu initially didn’t want to get involved. But the girl’s crying kept echoing in her ears; her heart softened and, unable to resist, she went over.
“Wipe your tears,” she offered a tissue.
Ji Yuqiao, not one to play up, took the tissue and blew her nose vigorously, her voice choked up as she said, “Thank you.”
“He just wait! I’ll have my brother buy this crappy restaurant and have that so-called manager serve every day!” she declared fiercely after her crying ceased, her eyebrows furrowed and her face full of anger.
Lin Xu couldn’t help but laugh and cry: “You didn’t do your job well, how can you still bla the manager for firing you?”
“You didn’t see that the dish plate is almost bigger than a basketball, and it’s heavy. How can I carry it alone, they are just bullying ,” Ji Yuqiao pouted, fuming.
In the working world, who would sympathize with you? Even if it were several pounds of iron balls, to earn money, you’d still have to grit your teeth and swallow them.
Lin Xu sized her up, her clothes all high-end luxury brands, clearly a young lady who hadn’t been toughened by society yet.
Was she out experiencing life?
Lin Xu muttered to herself.
“Gurgle gurgle…”
Her stomach sounded like the rumbling of wagon wheels.
Ji Yuqiao’s cheeks instantly flushed red, she rubbed her stomach awkwardly, “I, I need to go…”
“Would you like to join for a al?” Lin Xu suddenly asked.
“Huh?” Ji Yuqiao was taken aback, pointing at herself.
“I was originally eating with my son, but he suddenly had to leave. We ordered so many dishes, I can’t finish them all by myself.” Lin Xu seed sowhat distressed.
Ji Yuqiao’s eyes lit up: “Really, can I?”
“Let’s go,” Lin Xu led the way.
Although this girl seed a bit spoiled and capricious, Lin Xu inexplicably liked her, so sharing a al wouldn’t hurt.
“You just ntioned your son, how old are you?” Ji Yuqiao suddenly rembered to ask this.
She looked about the sa age as her — was she already married with children?
Lin Xu had a car accident at twenty-seven, and twenty years had passed since then; logically, she should be forty-seven, but she hadn’t lived those twenty years, so why add them to her age?
Thus, Lin Xu said calmly, “Twenty-seven.”
Ji Yuqiao responded briefly, her mind filled with doubts.
At the sa age of twenty-seven, so people were already married with children, yet her older brother was still a single dog, a pathetic follower.
But after the image of a certain detestable woman flashed through her mind, she thought it was better to remain single.
As they talked, Lin Xu had already returned to the private room, and the dishes on the table were mostly untouched.
Ji Yuqiao didn’t hold back, grabbing a new pair of chopsticks and started devouring the food.
“Eat slower, no one is competing with you,” Lin Xu said as she poured a glass of water and placed it beside her.
“I can’t slow down, I haven’t eaten well in two days,” Ji Yuqiao said with her mouth full.
Lin Xu raised an eyebrow in surprise, hesitatingly said, “You… don’t look very poor.”
“You don’t know, my jerk of a brother cut off my allowance, I had to fend for myself,” Ji Yuqiao gritted her teeth.
At first, she thought her brother surely wouldn’t stand to see her starve and would unfreeze the card in a couple of days, but after half a month with no change, she realized he was serious.
Used to living lavishly, Ji Yuqiao had long spent all her modest savings and had to sell her designer bags.
Late, almost out of bags to sell, she had to look for part-ti jobs.
Working wasn’t a big deal, Xiao Yu managed to work part-ti while studying; she could do it too.
With that idea, she went out to apply for jobs, but she couldn’t last till the second day at any job before she was fired.
“Why did your brother cut off your allowance?” Though Lin Xu knew it wasn’t proper to pry into personal matters, she was curious.
“Because he doesn’t want spending money on the guy I like,” Ji Yuqiao said, getting worked up as she slamd her fist on the table, “He has spent so much on that woman, and I’ve kept quiet about it. Yet, he dares to criticize for spending on other n!”
Lin Xu: “…”
What a family of hopeless followers.
Lin Xu was too exhausted to comnt, and as she was about to continue eating, her phone received a video call from Ji Tingyang.
