Chapter 43: Chapter 43 The Forbidden Taboo
Ji Tingyang had signed a contract with a partner, and a new project was put on the agenda; he frantically called Ji Zeqiu over to sign an endorsent contract.
Receiving a call early in the morning, Ji Zeqiu was irritated, “Is your damn company really going bankrupt? Can’t you even wait these few hours?!”
He didn’t have many schedules today and was finally able to sleep in, all of which was disrupted by Ji Tingyang.
“Hurry up and co over to sign the contract, after which I need to take the person back,” Ji Tingyang made his intention clear.
Ji Zeqiu laughed in annoyance, retorted “In your dreams,” and decisively hung up the phone.
Even for contract signing, it was the agent who would go to Ji’s to handle everything before bringing it back for him to sign.
He didn’t want to see Ji Tingyang,
With his sleep disrupted, Ji Zeqiu couldn’t fall back to sleep and thought about ordering takeout while leaving the house.
But as soon as he made it to the living room, he heard a noisy clatter coming from the kitchen.
Recalling the dreadful al from last night, Ji Zeqiu’s cheeks twisted slightly, and he imdiately rushed into the kitchen.
“Don’t move!” he called out to stop whoever it was.
Lin Xu held a cup of water, with the rim against her lips, and her motion to drink was halted.
It turned out she was just drinking water.
Ji Zeqiu’s gaze swept across the ssy kitchen; the breath he had just cald now stuck in his chest, unable to co down.
Since he moved in, the kitchen had never been used for cooking, more often than not resembling a useless decoration; and yet, Lin Xu had been there for just one day and had already made a ss of it.
Seeing Ji Zeqiu tell her not to move and then silence for a long while, Lin Xu’s lovely cheeks showed a hint of nervousness, “Is there poison in this water?”
Ji Zeqiu held back, so as not to let his rolling eyes show, and pointed to the kitchen that looked like a disaster zone, “Did you manage to blow up the kitchen just by drinking a glass of water?”
“I initially wanted to make a cup of coffee, but I don’t know how to use any of this stuff here.” After fiddling around for a while, it turned into this ss.
Lin Xu blinked innocently.
Ji Zeqiu was exasperated, “Then why didn’t you just order takeout!”
Bad at cooking was one thing, but not even knowing how to use a coffee machine, how on earth had this woman survived until now.
If it were Wen Li, all these things would be a piece of cake.
She had always been clever and skilled; her cooking was fragrant and delicious, fitting perfectly with his idea of homade als.
Before he could snap out of his recollections, he heard Lin Xu sighing into the phone, “Ji Tingyang, your brother is having such a hard ti, he can only order coffee as takeout.”
Ji Zeqiu: ???
Before he could burst into rage, he heard Ji Tingyang’s deep voice tinged with sympathy, “You’ve really suffered today, I’ll co over to take you ho now.”
Ji Zeqiu snatched her phone away, bellowing, “Ji Tingyang! If you dare co over, do you believe I won’t sign the contract?!”
The response from the other side was calm, “Then hurry up and sign the contract, so I can co pick her up.”
Initially, Ji Tingyang had refused Ji Zeqiu’s help, but with Lin Xu’s ddling, he had no choice but to accept the situation.
As for the matter of Lin Xu leaving with Ji Zeqiu once the contract was signed, he didn’t take it seriously.
Once Ji Zeqiu signed the contract, he would be the client, Ji Zeqiu would have to work for him, but Lin Xu would always be his mother, which no agreent could change.
The only one at a loss would be Ji Zeqiu.
Thinking this, Ji Tingyang’s mood improved even more.
Ji Zeqiu was astonished by Ji Tingyang’s shalessness.
The man had clearly promised he could take Lin Xu away, but now, even before he signed the contract, he was already scheming to take her back.
Ji Zeqiu was so angry that his chest heaved violently, and through clenched teeth, he sent back a single word, “Scram,” and returned the phone to Lin Xu.
She grabbed her phone and looked, “Why did you block Ji Tingyang?”
She said, intending to unblock him.
“You’re with now, is it appropriate to keep in contact with him!” Ji Zeqiu exclaid angrily, “Don’t unblock him!”
In his mind, it was supposed to be Lin Xu making a resolute decision to leave with him, cutting off all ties with Ji Tingyang, then Ji Tingyang suffering imnsely, begging him to return Lin Xu.
Until now, not a single thing had gone according to his plan; how was he supposed to take revenge on Ji Tingyang?
Lin Xu imdiately stuffed her phone back into her pocket, trying to calm him down, “Alright, alright, I won’t talk to him anymore, don’t be angry.”
Ji Zeqiu’s lips parted, ready to say sothing else, but then a rumbling noise ca from his stomach.
Lin Xu’s cheeks turned slightly red, “I’m hungry.”
“What do you want for breakfast?” Ji Zeqiu opened the food delivery app, letting her pick.
While waiting for breakfast, Lin Xu nestled on the couch, scrolling through her phone to pass the ti, until she was drawn to a ssage @all group mbers.
She clicked on it, finding it was Ji Zeqiu’s fan group she’d joined before.
The group leader was promoting Ji Zeqiu’s upcoming new show, having released a few handso stills from the costu photoshoot.
He was dressed in a red outfit, holding a longsword, a heroic spirit visible in his brows, and a carefree smile on his lips. His black hair and the ribbons fluttered in the wind, like a spirited young nobleman boldly riding a horse.
Once the pictures were out, all sorts of adoring ssages from the group were frantically flooding the screen.
Even Lin Xu opened the pictures and admired them for several minutes, marveling at how marvelous her own genes were, to have given birth to such a handso son.
In Ji Zeqiu’s eyes, however, that was interpreted as fangirling.
If his mory served him right, wasn’t this woman once his fan?
Ji Zeqiu clicked his tongue, not understanding, “The real person is right in front of you, what’s the point of staring at a picture?”
“That’s true, then let have a look at you!” Lin Xu suddenly picked up his cheeks with both hands, closely scrutinizing them.
Under that piercing gaze, Ji Zeqiu’s cheeks turned red, he slapped her hands away, and sternly said, “I’m going to add another rule!”
“Hmm?”
“Besides not being allowed in my room, you’re also not allowed to harbor any indecent thoughts toward , and definitively no touching!” Ji Zeqiu drew back, becoming solemn.
He almost forgot, this woman was his fan; the last ti he encountered her at the movie town, she was holding a fan that read, “Ji Zeqiu, I love you.”
What if she had so improper intentions toward him, what then?
He had to cut off such wild fantasies promptly.
Ji Zeqiu continued, “I brought you back simply to take revenge on Ji Tingyang, I’m not interested in you. Moreover, I already have soone I like, so you don’t stand a chance.”
“…” Overwheld with retorts, Lin Xu suddenly didn’t know where to begin.
After a while, she ca out with, “You might not believe it if I tell you, but I’m actually your real mother.”
Suddenly, the atmosphere around Ji Zeqiu turned icy, his gaze beca wary and as sharp as a blade, frightening Lin Xu to the point where her heart trembled.
Lin Xu swallowed, “If you don’t believe , we could…”
“There’s one more thing I forgot to say.” Ji Zeqiu’s voice was like a cold stream, frighteningly chill, “Don’t talk about my mother in front of .”
“I hate her.”
He swallowed, throat so dry it hurt to swallow.
He hated her…
Hated that she died early, abandoning them…
It also beca a taboo he must not ntion in his presence.
