Chapter 253: Chapter 253: When the Flower Child
Ji Yuqiao had just arrived ho when she coincidentally t Xie Changyan at the villa’s entrance. Her gloomy expression instantly turned joyful.
“Father, did you co to see ?” Ji Yuqiao excitedly asked.
Xie Changyan briefly acknowledged, and took her small backpack, “How are things going at school?”
“I’m doing very well,” Ji Yuqiao proudly straightened her back.
The two chatted as they walked towards the house and upon entering, they found Lin Xu overwheld, taking a phone call.
It was still Xie Mingwang calling.
“I asked a master this morning, and he said the 12th of next month is a very auspicious day. What do you think about getting your marriage certificate then?” Xie Mingwang’s words conveyed great urgency.
“Isn’t this… a bit too rushed?” Lin Xu said embarrassingly.
“Rushed? I originally preferred next Tuesday, but after consulting many masters, they all recomnded the 12th of next month. I thought about it and decided it’s best to listen to the master.” He seed sowhat regretful even as he spoke.
Lin Xu chuckled awkwardly.
“But if you want to hold the wedding first and then get the certificate, I can just go…”
Before Xie Mingwang could finish, Lin Xu’s phone was snatched away by a hand.
Xie Changyan held the phone to his ear, his tone light and slightly amused, “Grandfather, if you keep calling to bother her, I might have to block you.”
Hearing his own grandson’s voice, Xie Mingwang burst into frustration, “You little brat, if I don’t keep pushing you, you wouldn’t take action. Would I need to call Lin Xu otherwise!”
Xie Mingwang had been hoping for him to marry for years. It was okay when he hadn’t liked any woman before, but now that he finally had a girlfriend, if he didn’t hold onto her tight, and she ran off, he’d have nowhere to cry.
Facing Xie Mingwang’s scolding, Xie Changyan smiled nonchalantly, “But Grandfather, I haven’t proposed yet.”
“What?! You haven’t proposed after all these months?” Xie Mingwang’s volu increased, he berated with force, “You better think of a proposal plan quickly, you hear ? Also, set aside your work at the company for now—no woman likes a workaholic. Your top priority right now should be proposing…”
Xie Mingwang lectured on and on over the phone, and Xie Changyan only listened for a little while before he nonchalantly hung up.
He returned the phone to Lin Xu, “If he calls you again, you don’t have to answer.”
“Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?” Lin Xu hesitated.
“Don’t worry, just bla it on if needed,” Xie Changyan wasn’t concerned.
“I have an idea!” Ji Yuqiao suddenly chid in, looking at them both with excitent, “Why don’t you two just get the certificate and marry right away? That would solve everything once and for all.”
“I’ll be the flower girl at the wedding!” Ji Yuqiao imagined attending her parents’ wedding.
She hadn’t been born yet when her parents married, and the thought that she could now partake in their nuptials excited her imnsely.
Lin Xu smiled helplessly and turned to et Xie Changyan’s teasing eyes; her cheeks suddenly felt hot.
“We are already an old married couple, and the child is already this big, why hold another wedding?” her cheeks flushed a deeper red, her voice soft and a little husky.
“Isn’t it perfect that the child is grown up? It even saves us a flower girl.” The teasing smile in Xie Changyan’s eyes deepened.
Lin Xu blushed, coughed, and quickly changed the subject, “Instead of chatting here, we might as well go and check on Zeqiu.”
“What’s there to see?” Xie Changyan definitely hadn’t forgotten Ji Zeqiu’s recent hostility towards him.
“He was doused with several buckets of ice water while participating in a variety show a few days ago, and he has had a fever since returning. He’s still in bed.” Lin Xu ntioned, with a frown appearing on her face.
Yesterday, I also took him to the hospital to get dicine, but he still has a fever, and seeing my son looking so haggard and weak, Lin Xu felt heartbroken.
Xie Changyan raised his eyebrows slightly upon hearing this.
“Alright, go on now. Go up there and show him so care, get him so water or sothing, and deepen your father-son relationship. Who knows, your relationship might improve,” Lin Xu said as she pushed Xie Changyan’s back, urging him to hurry to the second floor.
There were no major changes to the layout of the villa, Ji Zeqiu still lived in his old room.
Xie Changyan easily found the bedroom and pushed the door open, imdiately seeing the frail Ji Zeqiu lying on the bed.
His face was flushed with a sickly pallor, looking listless, nothing like his usual brash and explosive deanor.
Xie Changyan’s eyebrows furrowed as he quietly approached the bed and reached out to touch his forehead.
A burning heat radiated from his forehead, making his palm feel hot as well.
Xie Changyan did not withdraw his hand but instead rubbed Ji Zeqiu’s head, clucking his tongue slightly in disdain, “How can you have such a poor constitution…”
Asleep, Ji Zeqiu, perhaps hearing Xie Changyan’s words, twitched his eyebrows and his head instinctively nuzzled gently into his palm.
So warm…
It felt like when he was sick before, both his father and mother would soothe his head like this…
His mother urged him to get well soon while his father comnted on his poor constitution.
This familiar feeling made him sowhat nostalgic.
Was it his mother coming to visit him again?
Ji Zeqiu struggled to wake from his sleep and groggily opened his eyes.
The figure in front of him shifted from Lin Xu to Xie Changyan.
Realizing that the palm he was nuzzling belonged to Xie Changyan, his expression froze, and he imdiately shrank to the side.
Ji Zeqiu grabbed the blanket beneath him, watching him warily, “How did you get in?!”
“Of course, I walked in,” Xie Changyan said.
“Get out!” Ji Zeqiu yelled.
“Just now you wanted to touch your head, how can you be so ruthless upon waking?” Xie Changyan clicked his tongue.
“Don’t flatter yourself, I thought you were Lin Xu just now,” Ji Zeqiu’s cheeks flushed with embarrassnt, his breathing quickened, “Now get out of my room, did you hear !”
“Lin Xu asked to co up and check on you, if I leave now, she will surely nag at again,” Xie Changyan said.
“I couldn’t care less,” Ji Zeqiu huffed.
In the end, his mother scolded Xie Changyan away, so he wouldn’t keep appearing in front of him all day, irritating him.
Xie Changyan smiled, didn’t leave, but instead looked around the room, observing his bedroom, finally his gaze landed on a remote-controlled car on the bookshelf.
Ji Zeqiu suddenly beca alert and warned harshly, “Don’t touch it!”
That was a gift from his father.
The next second, Xie Changyan picked up the remote-controlled car.
