Chapter 247: Chapter 247 Picnic

Because he had promised Ji Yuqiao, as soon as Xie Changyan finished his work, he ca to see her at the Ji Family’s house.

The instant she saw him, Ji Yuqiao’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, “Are we going picnicking today!”

Ever since Xie Changyan had agreed, Ji Yuqiao had been looking forward to the picnic every day.

Not only did picnics seem warm and cozy on TV dramas, but even back when she was studying, listening to her classmates’ stories of picnicking with their parents had made her yearn for it.

But they’d been too poor before, not even having the chance to go on a picnic.

Later, Ji Tingyang fought to reclaim their parents’ inheritance and they eventually beca wealthy, but he was busy with the company’s affairs all day long and never had ti to accompany Ji Yuqiao on a picnic.

...

And then Ji Zeqiu started in the entertainnt industry and also beca busy, sotis he was so occupied that he couldn’t co ho until late at night, and picnics beca even more impossible.

Besides, both of them had been spending all their ti around Wen Li, and had long neglected their own sister.

Ji Yuqiao had no choice but to shelf the thought deep inside her heart and, as ti went on, she even forgot about it.

It was only a few days ago while watching TV that her longing for a picnic resurfaced.

“If you want to go on a picnic, why don’t Mother and I accompany you? Why insist on bringing Xie Changyan?” Ji Zeqiu looked sowhat displeased.

“When does a family picnic happen without inviting the father?”

“Xie Changyan isn’t our father.”

“To he is like a father, I want him to accompany !” Ji Yuqiao raised her voice suddenly, yelling at him.

“In the past, you and big brother were always around that Wen Li, completely forgetting you had a sister who needed companionship. Now that father is back, what’s wrong with him wanting to spend ti with !”

Ji Yuqiao let out all the dissatisfaction that had been suppressed in her heart for years, her chest heaving with anger.

Ji Zeqiu’s expression stiffened, he stood there stunned.

Thinking of his past actions, he fell silent, bowed his head, and said nothing.

After a while, his lips quivered, “I’m sorry…”

“I didn’t say all this because I wanted an apology from you.” With that, Ji Yuqiao turned and left.

Whether out of guilt or remorse, when Xie Changyan visited the Ji family again, Ji Zeqiu didn’t retort as he used to.

Because of this, Xie Changyan felt quite unaccustod.

If Lin Xu knew, she would definitely laugh at him for perhaps having a masochistic side, as if he feels uncomfortable without his son talking back to him a couple of tis.

“The picnic stuff will only be ready by tomorrow; we’ll set off then.” Xie Changyan patted Ji Yuqiao’s head, then raised an eyebrow towards Ji Zeqiu slouching on the sofa, “What’s up with your second brother?”

Could it be that he hadn’t recovered from the scolding he got from Lin Xu a few days ago?

“Don’t mind him.” Ji Yuqiao muttered, pulling Xie Changyan away, “Mother is upstairs, I’ll take you to her.”

Xie Changyan gave a knowing smile.

So the siblings had had a quarrel.

Watching Ji Yuqiao’s retreating figure, Ji Zeqiu awkwardly retracted his gaze and touched his nose.

The internet always says the best way to apologize to a girl is to transfer money to her.

Ji Zeqiu tried their thod and sent Ji Yuqiao money again and again, but although she accepted the money, her anger didn’t subside.

The next day, early in the morning.

Xie Changyan had co over early to pick them up in his car.

Ji Zeqiu stood at the doorway, watching Ji Yuqiao and Ji Tingyang get into the car one after the other, without a hint of reluctance.

They were really leaving him behind at ho, just like that?

But if he changed his mind now and followed them, he would surely be gossiped about.

He pursed his lips tightly, his brows and eyes filled with hesitation.

Just then, Lin Xu’s voice ca, “Zeqiu, hurry up and get in the car, let’s go on a picnic together.”

Ji Zeqiu curled his lips and muttered under his breath, “I don’t want to go, I said where he is, I am not.”

“But if you don’t go, later there will be no one to help unscrew bottle caps, and no one to share celebrity gossip with , and I’ll be unhappy all day,” Lin Xu offered him an out, “Consider it accompanying , okay?”

“Well… okay then,” Ji Zeqiu reluctantly agreed, complaining, “Really, without , nothing will work.”

Lin Xu chuckled inwardly, “Yes, our Zeqiu is so important.”

A smile crept up the corners of Ji Zeqiu’s lips, and then he followed her into the car.

After getting in the car, he saw Ji Yuqiao’s questioning look and coughed guiltily.

“I didn’t want to go originally, but Lin Xu kept asking , saying if I didn’t go, she wouldn’t either. I had no choice but to go with her,” Ji Zeqiu said.

Ji Yuqiao rolled her eyes, not bothering to expose him.

There was a large lawn in the suburbs, leased by a big boss, turned into a picnic and barbecue spot.

Every weekend, many parents would bring their children for family activities, and so companies and students would hold team-building events there.

When Xie Changyan and the others arrived, the scenic spots were already occupied.

Ji Yuqiao hurriedly grabbed a picnic mat and ran out, finally choosing a shady spot under a tree to spread it out, before turning back to wave at Lin Xu and the others, “Co on over.”

“I checked the weather forecast, and today the sun will be especially strong. Cooling off under the tree is ideal, and it won’t darken my skin or mother’s,” Ji Yuqiao ntioned proudly, her hands on her hips.

After speaking, she turned out all the snacks and bread from her backpack, arranging them neatly in the middle, dividing each item by portion for everyone.

“Just pick them up and eat, why make it so complicated?” Ji Zeqiu reached for a piece of bread.

In the next instant, Ji Yuqiao slapped his hand away powerfully, “I haven’t finished setting up, no eating!”

Ji Zeqiu didn’t dare to anger her further, rubbing his stinging hand and withdrawing it in silence.

It wasn’t just the snacks; Ji Yuqiao was also contemplating renting a barbecue grill from the shop so they could have a barbecue later.

She rembered that her mother loved barbecued food, and so did her father.

The more Ji Yuqiao thought about it, the better she felt about the idea and stood up to head to the shop. After walking two steps, she turned back and dragged Ji Zeqiu along too.

“Why are you pulling ?” Ji Zeqiu grumbled.

He wanted to spend more ti with his mother and keep an eye on Xie Changyan, to stop him from making any moves on her.

“Help carry the barbecue grill. Do you really want your delicate sister to carry it herself?”

“Then why don’t you ask Ji Tingyang.”

“Big brother didn’t make angry.”

“…Alright.” Ji Zeqiu resigned himself to play the role of her lackey.

As Ji Yuqiao was talking to the shop clerk about renting a barbecue grill, a familiar voice sounded from behind.

“Ji Yuqiao?” Xiao Yu’s eyes held a hint of surprise and delight.
