71: Chapter 71 Sharpness and Awe 71: Chapter 71 Sharpness and Awe As the nightmare was banished, the oppressive atmosphere in the Library dissolved into nothingness.
Anvis, with sharp eyes, noticed that at a black shining stone table right across the entrance, there were two items that seed out of place amidst the surroundings.
A dark gold tal plate and an old piece of parchnt.
Reward for clearing the stage?
Although he was aware that those two items might be rewards, he didn’t imdiately approach them to check.
Instead, he deliberately kept his distance from the table, first browsing through various Mysterious books and items in the Library.
Anvis was concerned that touching those items might imdiately initiate the completion of the welco ceremony, resulting in being teleported out of the Mirror Space.
As expected, although the books looked fine, not a single one could be opened.
The sa was true for the various items; they were rely akin to magical projections, devoid of any mysterious properties.
Anvis didn’t give up, but instead, unfurled his spiritual power, carefully scanning across each bookshelf.
It is well known that remnants and the Great Library of the Mysterious Academy are ho to a large number of undeciphered Mysterious items.
And mysteriousness signifies the unknown; even the dean of the Mysterious Academy may not be sure what secrets are contained within the Library’s collection!
He was sowhat curious whether there might be an item whose power could affect his replica within the Mirror Space.
“Hmm?
Got it!”
After checking through two-thirds of the bookshelves, Anvis finally made a discovery.
Ancient Language/Script section, bookshelf number three, thirteenth tier, the twenty-seventh book from the left.
He used his spiritual power to form telekinetic tendrils, carefully retrieving that book.
Although it was called a ‘book’, it was in fact made of a thin layer of black rock, approximately eleven centiters thick, and had no cover.
The text was written in a strange, worm-like wriggling script.
When swept with spiritual power, he could faintly sense that this ‘book’ was different from the rest around it.
Although the other books also varied in appearance, their magical aura was totally identical.
Having taken down this book, Anvis didn’t rush to try flipping through it, but continued to check the rest of the bookshelf.
Indeed, upon inspecting the eighteenth giant rack from the end, he once again found a special book.
“Two books?
That’s not too few.”
After checking all the bookshelves, Anvis examined the two books before him.
Besides the rock book, the other was made of a white bone material, its cover featuring an abstract, skeletal spider-like beast.
Both books were placed in very hidden corners, difficult to find unless one searched purposefully.
Anvis, with a thought, prepared to try opening the black rock book first.
However, to his surprise, as the book opened, a piece of paper and a tal plate engraved with the Pamir crest fell out from nowhere.
“Is this also a part of the test?”
Anvis paused, then realized.
“True, it’s just a blind spot in thinking.
If I could think of it, there’s no reason others couldn’t.”
He again opened the other book, and indeed obtained another tal plate and a piece of paper.
“Keenness?”
The two pieces of paper each had several ancient Guman language characters that, when combined, ford the word ‘keenness’.
After pondering for a mont, Anvis temporarily put away the tal plates and paper strips and began to study whether there was valuable content in the two books.
.….….
“There were more items hidden in those two books?!
But how did that newcor find out?”
“I’m more curious about why he didn’t check the items on the table first, which were obviously rewards.”
Anvis, while reading, sparked a heated debate among the people at the top of the tower regarding his actions.
Unknowingly, the other two new students currently climbing the tower had already been ruthlessly ignored by everyone…
In the crowd, several older students with greater strength did not participate in the debate but fell into deep thought instead.
If they were in this new student’s position, how would they have responded?
After a period of discussion, an older student whose left eye shimred with a peculiar rainbow hue and whose strength reached the peak of Third Rank spoke up, clearing up the confusion of the other students.
“You all don’t understand, in that Mirror Space, most items are rely superficial replicas.
Take those books, for example, their exteriors are faultless.
But I am sure that they contain no content inside, and they might not even be able to be flipped open.
But after all, this is the Mysterious Library, and among those books filled with Mysterious Power, no one can be sure if the power of so item could affect its own mirror image.
And this new student, upon discovering that the books were false, probably thought of this imdiately.
The characteristics of the Mirror Space instead beca his ‘sieve’, helping him to filter out those special items.”
Seeing the graceful side profile of the young man with the Gray Crystal pendant in the projection, this older student made a serious evaluation.
“To think of this step requires unusual knowledge.
This new student’s identity is certainly not ordinary; he very likely cos from a distinguished noble lineage!”
After this older student’s explanation, so began to quietly harbor thoughts, starting to pay attention to the appearance of those two books.
Planning to imdiately go to the library to borrow them once the welco activity ends, to see if anything could be figured out.
However, several of the strongest older students did not entertain this thought.
aningless, even knowing that these two ‘books’ could affect the projection’s specialty does not an that the difficulty of researching and deciphering their essence is reduced.
On the contrary, possessing the power to affect one’s own projection only proves that these two books likely belong to a higher level of Mysterious Items.
If that is the case, the difficulty of unraveling the magic tied to these two books might be even greater than other books and Mysterious Objects.
Elsewhere, inside the Mysterious Great Library, Anvis closed the two books and put them back in their original place.
Although influenced to so extent by their original strength, their specific contents remained indistinct.
This was normal; if their power was enough to make the false mirror images as clear as the originals, then these two books would not have been placed in the outermost section of the library.
“After going out, I’ll borrow these two books.”
After noting down the positions of the two books, Anvis finally returned to the desk near the front door, ready to examine the two items on the desk.
As he approached the square table, the paper on the table suddenly lit up.
Lines of text the size of apples, emitting a faint white glow, appeared in midair.
‘The 731st successful newcor to reach this place, congratulations’
‘Affix the tal plate on the table to your Identity Card to enhance your reading privileges in the Mysterious Great Library’
‘One minute later, you will return to the outside world.
The tal plate cannot be taken out; please use it imdiately’
‘Note: That nightmare has already frightened 306 ‘fearless’ new students unconscious; if this were a real relic, they would have lost their precious lives,’
‘Rember, in the face of the mysterious, carry reverence—’
Looking at the text in midair, Anvis suddenly felt inspired and took out the two pieces of paper he had obtained earlier.
Seemingly triggering so magical chanism, the writing on the surface of the papers also began to glow at this ti.
The white characters in mid-air paused slightly, and additional content appeared behind them.
‘If you are reading this ssage, it proves that you have found those two books’
‘To achieve this step requires sharp thinking and detailed perception, lacking neither.’
‘Once again, congratulations to you, you are the 286th newcor to see this content’
