Chapter 440: Chapter 441: She Ultimately Underestimated This Man. Chapter 440: Chapter 441: She Ultimately Underestimated This Man. “Qingzhu…”

Upon hearing Qi Yue call out, Qingzhu dared not look up and imdiately bowed his head in response.

“What do you wish to instruct, Master?”

“Did you not have sothing to say earlier?”

“Earlier?”

Qingzhu looked confused and couldn’t recall what it was he wanted to say earlier.

“Yes, right after we left the Liu Residence. Speak now if there’s sothing, I’ll be busy with other matters very soon.”

Qi Yue rested her chin on one of her palms, the other hand lazily flicking her fan.

Qingzhu hurriedly forced himself to focus, and then he rembered the matter he needed to report.

“Master, it’s about Li Tianyi and the Narcissus Fragrance Pavilion.”

“Oh, has he been restless lately?” said Qi Yue, her expression indifferent.

“Not exactly,” Qingzhu cautiously glanced at Qi Yue, “My subordinates haven’t yet found that garden full of narcissus. I thought to chat with Li Tianyi… And whether by intention or accident, he leaked an address. Our people have confird it, Master was right, it’s a garden within a garden, reportedly an abandoned court of a prince from the prior dynasty, known decades ago as Narcissus Fragrance Pavilion.”

“As expected.” Qi Yue stopped her fan and sat up straight, “The people in that courtyard must be backing Li Tianyi. Anyone who can conceal themselves in the bustling city of Fengdu is no minor figure. Let’s not let others investigate just yet to avoid startling them.”

After a pause, she continued, “This way, since you’re skilled at Qinggong, take a mont to have a look, see if you can find out anything.”

“Yes.”

“…”

After discussing this matter and a few words on the movents of Shengong, Qi Yue instructed him to go back.

Qingzhu was still a bit stunned.

“Master, you an to go back now?”

“Mm, go back. My dear uncle has probably almost dealt with his affairs; he should be coming to the inn to pick up.”

Qi Yue stood up, straightened her clothes, and swung her fan as she headed for the door.

“Master, what about them?” Qingzhu awkwardly gestured outside the door.

“Them?” Qi Yue squinted, “Why should I bother with them? Am I that idle?!”

“So we just let this pass?” Qingzhu asked uncertainly.

“What do you think?” Qi Yue curled her lips into a smirk and left, opening the door herself.

Qingzhu was left standing there, it took him a long ti to regain his composure.

“What am I to say? Should we still pursue the fault of presuming the master’s responsibility?”

Qingzhu was visibly guarding in front, while Zhao Chong and Zhao Tai followed discreetly in the shadows.

Qi Yue was drowsy in the carriage on the way back, her mind still preoccupied with what she had heard today.

She had learned that Zhao Xiyan had not only changed the military flag to the Qi Family army but also had her sit in the supre seat. To say she was not shaken would be a lie.

Previously, she had thought when the day ca for Zhao Xiyan to ascend to that position, he would honor her with the distinction of a nation’s mother, a status second to none.

Better still, maybe he would not have another woman, honoring a promise of a lifeti of monogamy.

But today, she realized she had underestimated this man.

What does it an to be the ruler of all under heaven? Had he never considered that?

“I just can’t figure it out!”

She slightly shook her head and shifted a bit to make her back more comfortable.

Suddenly, a horse neighed, followed by the carriage shaking violently as it swerved to the right.

Qi Yue quickly lifted the curtain to look outside after a startled horse caused the commotion.

Luckily, as the carriage was not moving fast and Qingzhu was skilled at driving, it stabilized almost imdiately after veering.

“Master, are you all right?!”

“I’m fine. What about the person outside?” Qi Yue said as she opened the curtain, revealing her handso face.

Qingzhu had already pulled over the person who had blocked the carriage.

“Master, it was this man who suddenly sprang out, refused to say anything, and insisted on seeing you!”

“Seeing ?” Qi Yue frowned, her gaze shifting to the man.

He was dressed in tattered clothes, his head hanging low, his ssy hair covering most of his face.

Apparently startled, his body twitched from ti to ti.

Qi Yue searched her mory but couldn’t recall ever having seen this man before.

Just then, the man lifted his eyes from his ssy hair to look at her, his eyes bewildered, filled with an innocent panic.

Qi Yue’s heart stirred, and she couldn’t help but lift the curtain and step out.

“Who are you? Are you the one who wanted to see ?”

The person in front of her suddenly knelt down, continuously bashing his forehead against the ground, all the while shouting incessantly.

“I am Afa, please, young master, save Big Brother Feng, save Big Brother Feng!”

Afa? Big Brother Feng?

Qi Yue’s brows knitted tightly, and when she spoke again, Afa kept repeating the sa sentence.

“Save Big Brother Feng! Save Big Brother Feng!”

Sensing sothing was off, Qingzhu whispered to her, “Master, this man doesn’t seem quite right?”

“Mm,” Qi Yue nodded, “Let him lead the way; let’s follow and see.”

Soon, the two were led to a civilian alley in the north of the city. After andering through twisty paths for the ti it takes to drink a cup of tea, they finally stopped at the entrance of a decrepit courtyard.

The yard was filled with junk, and one side of the house was collapsed, apparently emitting a faint sll of blood from inside.

Sensing sothing was wrong, Qi Yue rushed into the house, only to see a man lying in a pile of straw on the floor.

His clothes were torn into strips, and the exposed skin on his back was full of rotting whip wounds down to the bone.

Qi Yue turned his filth-covered head to get a proper look and couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.

“Li Fengshou?”

There was no ti for idle talk.

There was no need to take his pulse to know that Li Fengshou was on his last breath.

She imdiately stuffed a Coagulation Pill into Li Fengshou’s mouth, then perford acupuncture to preserve that last breath in his heart.

A cup of tea later, Li Fengshou’s pulse could finally be felt.

Only then did Qi Yue begin to treat the whip wounds on his body.

The best dicines and painkillers were applied, and after the bandaging was complete, Li Fengshou’s tightly shut eyes finally cracked open a sliver.

“Master…”

After a murmured utterance without consciousness, Li Fengshou fell back into a coma.

“We can’t stay here; we must take him with us,” Qi Yue said with furrowed brows, instructing Qingzhu to carry the man to the carriage, planning to take him back.

Noticing Afa standing by, slightly slow on the uptake, she simply decided to take him along as well.

After all this turmoil, by the ti they reached the inn where they were staying, the sun was nearly setting.

Liu Zhinan had indeed sent the old butler, who was waiting at the entrance of the inn.

As soon as the carriage stopped, the old butler ca forward to greet them.

“Master, where have you been? The lord commanded to bring you ho to stay!”

Qi Yue glanced at a few sneaky figures in the distance, a smile spreading across her handso face.

“Uncle Liu, I went to pick up a friend,”

Saying this, she lifted the curtain to give the butler a peek.

“Uncle Liu, I’d like to take these two people as well, do you think that would be okay?”

Seeing the butler hesitate, Qi Yue smiled again.

“This friend is severely injured; without soone to care for him, he might not survive.”

“Well then, since he is the master’s friend, the lord will surely agree,” replied the butler.
