Chapter 1276: Chapter 1276: I Want to Marry You
Xiaojian’s words caused her a brief mont of disorientation. Although in such a setting, Xiaojian’s words made her feel embarrassed, she understood very well that there was a hidden truth she might have missed.
Those calls that she could never get through, the cold responses she received when she went to the police station.
During that ti, she went crazy looking for Bai Song, wanting to ask him the reasons clearly.
But Bai Song seed to have disappeared.
She thought it was his choice to avoid her.
It turned out there was a reason.
Suppressing the waves rolling in her heart, she looked at Xiaojian.
This Xiaojian was standing up for Bai Song.
At this mont, she suddenly felt grateful, grateful that Xiaojian had been protecting Bai Song all along; otherwise she might never have known the truth behind it.
Before she could ask, she spoke up proactively, “Xiaojian, when Bai Song and I broke up back then, I couldn’t find him after that. What actually happened?”
Hesitated for a long ti!
Finally, Xiaojian spoke, “Back then, your parents visited us just before we executed a mission. Although I don’t know what they said, the chief later broke up with you and then suggested being the bait himself, appearing on TV news, ultimately attracting the attention of that lunatic.
When he wanted to perish together with that maniac, he ignited the gas, and the explosion nearly claid the captain’s life. He was rescued for three days and nights, along with countless days and nights of tornt, undergoing an unknown number of surgeries on his body.”
Qiu Yuqing listened quietly.
She had faintly felt back then that the matter was related to her, but hearing Xiaojian say it out loud now, the impact was the most direct, and the most heavy.
“At that ti, that lunatic was killing policen, taking revenge on their families. The captain was already worried about not being able to protect you, and later your parents said sothing that made the captain suddenly change.
He said that policen shouldn’t have loved ones, loving others ans harming them.”
“On the way to the hospital, the captain being sent, covered in blood, was still calling your na. Back then we all thought the captain wouldn’t make it, and we even thought about finding you to co over.
But at that ti, I went to your hospital, they said you had gone for advanced studies. Back then, I wondered how you could be so heartless. You so intelligent, wouldn’t you have realized how much the captain loved you, how could he easily let go.”
Her mind conjured up the bloody scene.
Heart wrenching.
“Thank you for telling these things. I really didn’t know. Back then I thought Bai Song heartlessly abandoned , I hated him, blad him, but never thought his reasons might be this. I thought it was the pressure from my parents that made him retreat.”
It wasn’t that he wasn’t willing to fight, it wasn’t that he wasn’t resisting behind the scenes. It was that he knew it could possibly bring her danger, could lead to martyrdom, so he protected her in his own way.
“The captain is not easy. I’ve watched him remain single all these years, even though I’ve treated him well, he’s unmoved, because I know he still carries you in his heart! But he just won’t go find you, I thought it was because you hurt his heart. Didn’t expect you didn’t know about the matters back then.” Xiaojian’s voice had lowered, the attitude much softer.
“If you don’t have the resolve to stick with the captain to the end, please stay away from him. He’s really not easy.”
Xiaojian began to worry about the captain being hurt again since seeing Bai Song that day leaving the police station with Qiu Yuqing.
But now it seems he’s a bit relieved.
“Rest assured! I am serious. No matter what, this ti I won’t easily give up on him.”
Xiaojian let out a breath, seeming relieved, yet sowhat helpless.
……
Qiu Yuqing tossed things into the trunk, and nearby, the large mall’s lodic music drew her attention, causing her to turn her head. She saw on the glass window a prominent advertisent slogan: Diamonds last forever, enduring for eternity.
A gentle breeze brushed her cheeks, a few strands of hair flitted across her face, sowhat obscuring her view.
Her brain went montarily blank.
Then her eyes couldn’t brighten.
She walked in boldly.
………
Bai Song dialed Qiu Yuqing’s phone, always t with no answer, leaning against the car, able to see that Qiu Yuqing’s room was still dark.
He took out the cigarette box from his pocket, shook out a filter cigarette, lit it with a lighter, patiently waiting as he puffed clouds of smoke.
The tired bird must eventually return to its nest.
He had already called the hospital, Dr. Qi was on leave today.
Then she would definitely return.
He believed he already had a strong heart, capable of enduring all storms, as long as the road ahead was bright.
It started to rain.
In the faint mist-like drizzle.
A car drove in!
The headlights illuminated the darkness of this stretch of road.
And then Bai Song’s black eyes focused on Qiu Yuqing who was already standing before him, one hand in his pocket. He bowed slightly, reached out with the hand holding the cigarette, using his thumb and ring finger to brush aside a strand of hair on her cheek.
She ca at him not gently at all, her neck tangled by a pair of slender arms, his large hands instinctively holding her slim waist.
The misting rain made her tender cheeks begin to get damp, when he touched, surprisingly, she didn’t evade.
A flick of the fingertips caused the cigarette butt to drop to the ground.
She gently turned his head towards herself, leaned forward and covered his cold stiff lips.
The emotions and sensations erupted awkwardly at first but quickly grew passionate; one unable to react, the other too emotional to hold back.
Bai Song’s body and lips were stiff, his eyes open watching the woman embracing him, her eyes tightly shut, with dense and particularly beautiful eyelashes, the contour of her brows and eyes filled with a captivating feeling.
This is the woman he loves.
To love soone is to imrse oneself in her breathing and movent.
Every ti it was her initiative.
He realized walking into her world needed courage, this ti he used all his courage.
Under the road lamps, the street shone with a post-rain brightness, causing one’s mood to be sowhat complicated.
At this mont, Bai Song’s expression looked a bit silly.
Qiu Yuqing suddenly felt cheerful, irresistibly smiling.
Hugging her waist, her voice sounded sowhat dreamy.
She said, “I want to marry you.”
Holding a sparkling diamond ring.
Glinting under the light.
Bai Song’s eyes flashed, his tall, firm fra allowing her to hug him. There was a mont of distraction, but as he comprehended her whispered words, he reached and tightly embraced her, more forcefully than ever before.
Then he placed the ring on his own ring finger.
Receiving his response, Qiu Yuqing’s lips curled in a smile, tightening her arms further.
She felt the solidity brought by this strong, warm male body, the faint scent of tobacco in the air, yet not unpleasant.
It’s an indescribable feeling.
No words.
Just feeling happiness, born of an infinite longing.
The emotions stirred up on the way here finally cald down, feeling a deep sense of peace within.
