Chapter 288: Chapter 288: Two Madn Chapter 288: Chapter 288: Two Madn “Although the Man-eating Eagle won’t co out in a short ti, nobody can guarantee there won’t be accidents. Just be careful, you kids. Go hungry tonight, and tomorrow follow to the back for labor and you can get sothing to eat.”
La Man Uncle said this, but he still gave them his stead buns.
Compared to the Fool’s dirty stead buns, these were much cleaner.
The group hadn’t expected this uncle to suddenly provide food and were a bit stunned.
The Fool was very happy and urged, “Take it, La Man Uncle is a good man.”
“You know how to flatter! These were originally for you, and now I’ve given them to them, so don’t co knocking on my door at midnight saying you’re hungry.”
The Fool laughed embarrassedly, “No… I won’t.”
“And don’t go ssing with the bell anymore.”
The Fool nodded repeatedly.
It was only then that Bai Sasa realized that the living dead she had seen touching the bell yesterday was just the Fool playing around.
After talking for a while longer, La Man Uncle took the Fool away.
Once everyone had left, Bai Junjun finally entered the house officially.
To avoid standing out, Bai Junjun’s newly constructed house was modeled after the Tube-shaped Building here, but she improved the gears and the elevator, turning the wooden barrel seat into a real square lift.
People just have to stand in it to be lifted up.
Moreover, the vines she used were tough and durable, easily carrying five people at once.
Upstairs was a large shared sleeping area which still had straw padding and mats laid out. Besides that, there was a simple cabinet containing pots, pans, and utensils newly made by Bai Sasa.
After everyone went upstairs, Bai Junjun and Li Wenli shared one and a half stead buns with the three kids, instructing Bai Sasa to keep an eye on her brothers and make sure they don’t go outside under any circumstances, before the two reckless ones prepared to leave.
Seeing this familiar routine, Bai Sasa sighed, “Be careful.”
“Don’t worry.”
Bai Sasa and Li Wenli left the house together.
As they walked out of the village, La Man Uncle happened to see them and was sowhat surprised, “Where are they going now?”
“They are probably looking for food.”
“If these two really go after the Man-eating Eagle, see how you feel about that.”
Unbeknownst to them, One-eyed Uncle and One-Ard Uncle had arrived at La Man Uncle’s house, and the group watched the departing figures and argued again.
La Man Uncle shook his head helplessly, “Fate is in their hands, and they also need to be toughened by reality. Life cannot always be so lucky.”
“Are you so sure they aren’t going after the Man-eating Eagle?”
Seeing La Man Uncle’s calm deanor, One-eyed Uncle guessed what he was thinking.
He had probably concluded that they would only go to the forest to look for wild vegetables, and at most suffer so minor hardships on the journey.
“Which normal child would go after a Man-eating Eagle? Isn’t that overestimating their abilities?” La Man Uncle replied confidently, then sighed as if rembering sothing, “But these kids are interesting, able to build a replica of a Tube-shaped Building in a day. I’ve never seen such talent before.”
“If they co back safe and sound, I wouldn’t mind taking them as my apprentices.”
“Give it up, old One-eyed fellow, what can you teach? View the world through a squinted eye?”
“Get lost.”
…
The two were unaware of the conversation in the Bamboo Tube Building.
The pair who went out to seek food boldly walked toward the steep cliffs.
Eagles? They had neither eaten nor seen them.
In The Apocalypse, such creatures were already extinct, and yet in ancient tis, they sward in numbers, injuring people.
If that was the case, they should rightly act as heaven’s agent!
