Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Holding Each Other Back Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Holding Each Other Back The man intended to butcher her with little care, tossing her into the pot, but the next second he felt a searing pain in his lower abdon.

He looked down in shock to see a fiery red stick ruthlessly piercing through his belly.

A slight smile curled on Bai Ren’s lips, making her appear like a bloodthirsty specter in the glow of the fire.

“Move again, and I’ll let your intestines spill out of your belly,” she warned.

As Bai Ren spoke, she applied a little more force, causing the man to feel the red-hot stick probe deeper into his stomach.

His eyes nearly splitting with rage, he stared at the young girl in front of him, enduring the pain as he sputtered through clenched teeth, “Bai Junjun, don’t forget that you promised to treat your siblings as two-legged sheep, which was our condition for allowing you to stay with us!”

Hearing this, Bai Ren could feel the child behind her shrink back, while her mind uncontrollably filled with a stream of mories that were not her own.

After the fall of the country, Shi clans fled the Capital City one after another; the once-first Noble Lady, whose family was ruined and wiped out in the chaos of war, had to attach herself to the Refugee group, wandering north and then south.

It was these additional mories that made Bai Ren realize she was no longer in The Apocalypse.

Perhaps due to the final lee of The Apocalypse, the Madman had thrown out Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Space Special Abilities which shattered the space-ti tunnel…

Anyway, she had arrived in this godforsaken era of conflict, becoming the forr Noble Lady and now refugee Bai Junjun.

“Bai Junjun, if you break your promise, don’t ever expect to receive our protection again,” the leader still attempted to intimidate with a veneer of calm, yet there was a barely detectable flicker in his eyes.

Bai Ren was analyzing the situation and missed the leader’s strange glance, but a second later, she felt a strong wind attack from behind.

Soone had stealthily approached her from behind while she had been lost in thought.

Though Bai Ren was a High-rank superpower user, she was also skilled in close combat; despite this body being weak, it was still agile in its limbs.

Thus she instinctively moved aside and pulled another stick from the fire, pressing it against the newcor’s neck.

With a sizzle, a burnt scent wafted from the edge of the fire, and the person imdiately began writhing on the ground, clutching their throat.

Reliant on the fire pit, Bai Junjun had an air of being a one-man barricade, striking at whoever approached.

Even if they used a swarm of attackers to deplete her firesticks, getting burnt by them was inevitable before then.

In tis like these, even a small festering wound could be fatal; it wasn’t a guaranteed death sentence, so who would risk their life recklessly?

Besides, even in the prior scenario, the girl had not let go of the leader; she gripped the stick firmly—it was clear she was no stranger to such deeds.

They all felt tricked and deceived thinking about how this girl had feigned weakness, fooling them into believing she would be willing to treat her siblings as two-legged sheep, only to feed off the group without contributing until it was ti to sacrifice soone – then she would turn hostile and disown everyone.

They all felt duped; she must be a repeat offender! Nobility truly are the worst at keeping their word! Even those in misfortune!

Anger, bitterness, frustration, and disgust surfaced on everyone’s faces in a mix of complex emotions.

“No need to look at like that, you were quite fascinating yourselves when killing and eating people,” Bai Ren retorted with a twisted head and a devilish look in her eyes.

“You… what do you want to do?”

Watching Bai Junjun reveal her true colors, the people finally went from being the manipulators to being led by the nose.

In truth, before the chaos of war, they were just illiterate Peasants.

After the chaos, by virtue of having ‘cheaper’ lives, they had a better chance of survival than the precious landlords and nobles.

This kind of Refugee group relied on who could be more ruthless, more reckless.

But when it ca ti for a real test of wit and courage, their bellies lacked the substance to back it up.
