Chapter 701: Chapter 701: Night Visit to the Research Institute
“Your Dual-Elent… it’s natural, right?”
Zhuozhuo tried asking.
Zhuozhuo was reminded of the Dual-Elent Ability Users from the E City base; it seed like those Ability Users had only acquired their dual abilities after undergoing surgeries at the research institute. And the recent Zombie Tide was caused by one of the Dual-Elent Ability Users who had a ntal breakdown, suddenly going on a killing spree outside the base, which attracted hordes of zombies.
“Don’t worry, mine developed naturally, genuine and without deception. But… are there still Dual-Elent Ability Users in the base now?”
Su Jin also asked. She rembered Han Yi, who had previously gone mad. Indeed, a high-level Dual-Elent Ability User like that could pose a danger within the base.
“I heard that a few are still kept underneath the research institute, but I don’t know exactly how many,”
Zhuozhuo answered. Besides, she felt that everyone in the base was currently putting all their effort into dealing with the zombies outside, so the research institute’s issues weren’t too urgent.
“I see,”
Su Jin frowned, recalling Chi Wenhua, who she had frightened into a ntal breakdown before.
It wasn’t that she was worried about Chi Wenhua seeking retaliation, but researchers from the institute like Chi Wenhua were probably not in short supply. If they realized that the Zombie Tide could be effectively dealt with and that the survivors inside the base had reached an unprecedented level of unity, would they mount a counterattack?

The baby’s cries interrupted Su Jin’s train of thought, and she couldn’t help but pick him up. Holding the little lightweight, Su Jin felt her heart soften completely.
“Has he been nad yet?”
Su Jin asked.

Zhuozhuo originally wanted the child to take her surna, but she eventually decided to give him the surna Gao, that of the man who had died trying to save her.
“That’s nice, hello there, little Changchang,”
Su Jin playfully interacted with the little baby, whose adorable appearance compelled her to take out so baby food and give it to Zhuozhuo.
“You really shouldn’t, keep it for your child. We’re always on the move, but here in the base, I can just scrape together a few bites for him,”

Huang Yunxiang and Su Jin walked toward the city wall while chatting. She also felt that this matter should be given imdiate attention.

Su Jin thought that even if they were worrying unnecessarily, it was better than sothing bad happening later on.

The night was still pierced with the continuous cries of zombies, as Lian Zongren was left behind to continue commanding the operations on site.
He heard that Lian Jiyue and the others were worried about the situation inside the research institute and planned to go take a look first. He actually wanted to go as well, but since he couldn’t leave his post here, he had to stay.
“There are zombies inside,”
Qiqi reminded everyone as they just entered the research institute.
She knew the mont she stepped into the base that there were zombies in the research institute, just like the first ti she ca in. However, she also knew that those zombies were being used for research and confined, and everyone was aware of this fact.
“Wow,”
Lin Xiuyuan pretended to be surprised. It was quite uncommon to see a base keeping zombies!
“How many?”
Lu Guanhai asked, as he too wanted to be ntally prepared.
“Hmm, about sixty or so, but they are scattered. If we encounter them, I will give everyone an early warning,”
Mao Qiqi said.
Lu Hao looked around. The last ti they had destroyed this place, and now it had already been restored to its original state.
“In fact, after Han Yizhou died, this place was essentially destroyed. The others are just useless people organized by him,”
Lian Jiyue said. Leading his family, he walked into a machine room which housed various surveillance videos collected by the research institute as well as live monitoring of several laboratories below. This was the first place he intended to destroy.
“I’ll handle this,”
Lin Xiuyuan said.
The collected videos might contain footage of Jiang Yixiao.
Lin Xiuyuan, using his Ice-Elent Special Abilities, turned the drawers and cabinets along the walls into blocks of ice. The crisp sounds of cracking followed, shattering the contents of the drawers and anything on the cabinets into ice fragnts. They were broken to such an extent that restoration was impossible.
“My goodness, what are these?!!”
Nie Qing hurriedly pulled Lu Hao to a live surveillance feed.
It was a large laboratory, and clearly visible inside were people lying in nutrient solution—imrsed in water but with their heads exposed—and connected to various tubes, long and short, creating a very eerie sight.
“That must be where they were creating the Dual-Elent Ability Users. Those liquids are nutrient solutions,”
Lian Jiyue speculated, but the people inside…
The group continued to move forward, using their Special Abilities to destroy the experintal equipnt in each room. Curiously, this floor of the research institute was utterly empty, with not a single person in sight.
“There are people below, not many,”
Mao Qiqi pointed downward as she spoke. There was still a level above this one, but Lian Jiyue said it was just an operating room and so offices with docunts. Thus, the group headed towards the basent.
