Chapter 264: Chapter 264: Mutated Plants

“There’s really nothing inside,”

Lu Hao, who was leading the way, announced after making a round.

“A table, a table…”

Liao Yifan also walked in, swiftly found a long table, and effortlessly moved it to the center of the room before setting it down.

Su Jin had observed this room and the two bedrooms inside, and after seeing nothing out of the ordinary, she felt at ease.

Then, with a wave of her hand, a table full of rich dishes and a steaming bowl of white rice appeared on the table.

...

Shi Jin drooled as he looked at the spread of dishes, although he had always known about Su Jin’s Space Elent Ability and its food preservation effects, at that mont, he couldn’t help but wonder if Su Jin was actually a fairy descended from heaven, the kind who could conjure a table full of delicious als with a wave of her sleeve?

Lin Yunguo in the space nodded in satisfaction at the shelves that had been emptied of two layers, glad that Xiao Jin and the others, though they had gone out to kill zombies today, still had a good al.

Special Ability Users experience significant loss of physical strength while using their abilities, and although everyone had stuffed themselves full before heading out in the morning, the hours of battle had long since left them with rumbling stomachs.

Seeing these delicious dishes laid out before them, everyone started eating with their bowls and chopsticks, paying no mind to anything else.

Su Jin took out a disposable paper bowl and so disposable chopsticks from the space, as there was no water here to wash the dishes after eating. She thought it more appropriate to use disposables today, and this way her grandparents in the space wouldn’t have to wash dishes either.

The boiled beef in spicy sauce, coated in chili oil and paired with the white rice on the side, made Su Jin think it was satisfying both visually and taste-wise, complented by the exceptionally crisp bean sprouts, gratifying everyone’s taste buds imnsely.

Not to ntion the other dishes on the table.

“This dry pot potato slices, you can tell it’s made by a Head Chef. Sister-in-law, which restaurant did you order this from before?” Yin Chengtian asked while eating.

“I ordered from too many and forgot,” Su Jin lied without any pressure whatsoever.

“Anyway, they’re all super tasty,” Shi Jin comnted after a bite of stir-fried spicy long beans.

Having a table of such delicious food while on their way to kill zombies made no one feel the trip was too arduous.

After eating, the group chatted in the room for a while. Using the ti, Huang Yunxiang, Lin Tianzhen, and a few others cleaned up the table thoroughly, placing the trash in plastic bags to take away later. Even though this was an unclaid house they were using, they at least planned to remove their trash. Otherwise, leaving a pile of garbage in such a clean and tidy house was sothing the typically tidiness-loving won couldn’t bear.

“We haven’t even left City West yet, and there are already so many zombies. Who knows what the city center has beco,” Lin Cheng said as he helped tear open a garbage bag.

“Yeah, looks like City West has its work cut out for it,” Lu Guanhai agreed.

Su Jin also cleared the empty plates directly into the kitchen in the space.

Ever since her space upgraded, it had beco much more convenient to store things inside; otherwise, if a few plates were left on the stone platform, they might have ended up shattered when they entered the space next ti.

“Xiao Jin, we need to leave here quickly,” Lu Hao said, looking outside the courtyard.

“What’s wrong, are there zombies coming in?”

Everyone moved to the doorway and windows to look into the yard, and what they saw left all of them with shocked expressions.

There weren’t any zombies in sight. The yard was completely empty, but every corner was covered with green moss that was spreading towards the room at a visible pace!

It was Mutated Moss—she had overlooked it when they first entered!

“Everyone, be careful not to touch the moss, or it might spread all over your body!” Su Jin warned.

By then, the moss had already crept in through the middle of the security door’s screen, and as Lin Tianzhen dropped the trash in surprise, the moss actively covered the bag, which visibly shrank in size before their eyes.

Without delay, such rapid spread suggested the interior might soon be overrun. Lu Hao hurled a bundle of Special Ability Fire at the moss, turning the patch on the floor instantly black. Just when everyone thought the thod was effective, the surrounding moss quickly engulfed the blackened area!

“Damn, how can this thing grow so fast!”

Lin Xiuyuan, while retreating with the others, spoke, but the moss relentlessly crept forward in silence!

“Fire attacks work, but we must be faster than its growth,” Su Jin said.

“Son, let help you!”

Lu Guanhai stepped forward; as a Fire Elent user himself, burning this kind of moss was a piece of cake.

Lu Hao nodded and placed his hands on the ground. Half of the room’s floor was instantly ablaze with Lu Hao’s Special Ability Fire, and Lu Guanhai threw several bundles of Special Ability flas at the security door, finally clearing the moss inside the house.

As the moss outside seed intent on spreading in again, Xue Wanyi unleashed a Wind Ball that blew the door open, and then Lu Hao repeated the trick, controlling the spread of his Special Ability Fire throughout the entire yard’s ground and even up the walls!

In an instant, what was once a clean and tidy yard turned to black.

“That should have burned all of it, right?” Lin Tianzhen said, still shaken.

“Lu Hao, beneath the steps at the entrance!”

Su Jin rembered the stone steps they had walked on before entering the house.

Heeded by Su Jin’s reminder, the group indeed noticed green moss silently growing from beneath the stone steps! That spot was likely the root of the mutated moss.

Lu Hao threw a Fireball at the stone step, its force shattering the stone slab and revealing what lay beneath.

Amidst the flas, a clump of dark green moss the size of a grown man’s fist shrank rapidly. At that mont, Mao Qiqi, standing next to Mao Zhihang, couldn’t help covering her ears.

“Qiqi?”

Mao Zhihang bent down and asked in confusion.

“I think I heard it screaming,”

Qiqi said, the piercing shriek made her unbearably uncomfortable.

Only when the mass of moss was entirely burned to a black ash did Qiqi drop her hands, no longer hearing the sound. Thus, the moss must have been completely destroyed.

“It could scream? And only Qiqi could hear it?”

Liao Yifan pointed at the blackened, unidentifiable substance and said.

“Plants have life too, especially mutated ones. It’s normal for Qiqi with her ntal Elent Ability to hear it,”

Su Jin explained that while human ears can’t pick up signals released by plants, ntal Elent Ability Users can.

The group quickly left, unsure if there were other mutated plants in the vicinity.

To them, the mutated plant seed trickier to deal with than zombies. If their team hadn’t had a Fire Elent Ability user, they might have truly been helpless against just now’s moss.

“Xiao Jin, is that the legendary mutated plant?” Su Xiangzhe asked while driving.

Su Jin nodded. She hadn’t seen such mutated moss in her past life, having only heard of it once. She didn’t expect to encounter it today.

The mutated moss, inconspicuous and often overlooked, becos perilous if even a small piece attaches to the skin, as it can spread throughout the body and slowly digest the host, making it a significantly dangerous mutated plant.

No wonder there wasn’t a single piece of trash on the ground inside the yard and the house; it had all been consud by the mutated moss.
