Chapter 747: Chapter 745: True Face 6_1 Chapter 747: Chapter 745: True Face 6_1 “Senior, goodbye!” Muxia stretched out her little hand and waved at his retreating figure.
She watched him walking away, and as she did, Muxia felt like sothing was amiss.
“Did the senior forget to take sothing?” Muxia murmured to herself.
No sooner had these words fallen than the restaurant’s waiter rushed over, holding a backpack: “Miss, miss, your classmate left his backpack in the store.”
Seeing the backpack, Muxia finally realized, “Ah! He really did forget sothing.”
Jiang Qingchen, with his arms folded, couldn’t help but scoff with a cold laugh, “That guy’s already so old, and he’s still so forgetful!”
“Don’t say that about him, the senior didn’t do it on purpose, and everyone has monts when they lose things,” Muxia wouldn’t allow him to badmouth the person she liked and imdiately retorted.
Puffing up her cheeks, she looked like a small, offended squirrel that refused to give up.
Jiang Qingchen was infuriated.
This girl only knew how to defend that liar!
“I never lose things,” Jiang Qingchen petulantly retorted.
Muxia with hands on her hips: “Then you are capable!”
“Thanks for the complint!” Jiang Qingchen deliberately misconstrued her words.
Muxia was so angry she could burst into flas, but was utterly helpless.
After all…
She still needed a favor!
“Qingchen, let’s stop bickering, we should hurry and take the backpack to the senior. If he finds it missing, he’ll definitely be anxious, and what if there are unfinished assignnts inside?”
Seeing her urgency, Jiang Qingchen bluntly told her, “He never does his howork.”
Muxia was shocked, “Ah? He never does howork and still does so well in studies?”
Truly a top student!
What a show-off!
Jiang Qingchen: “…”
Did he tell her this so that she would admire him?
Jiang Qingchen almost wanted to strangle her.
“Qingchen, quit the nonsense and let’s quickly take the backpack to the senior!” Muxia grabbed his arm, pleading anxiously.
Jiang Qingchen didn’t want to help at all, but when she asked him for help, he had no resistance left.
Jiang Qingchen sighed, his tone softening like a deflated balloon, “Then get on the bike already!”
Seeing his agreent, Muxia imdiately climbed onto the bicycle with a smile beaming from ear to ear.
Xu Zeming hadn’t gone far, and Jiang Qingchen quickly caught up with him, carrying Muxia on the bike.
“Senior!” Muxia spotted the person ahead and shouted loudly.
But he seed not to hear, not even turning his head once.
That made sense, though, because it was the rush hour for school dismissal and getting off work, the street was full of people, the sound of car horns, the noise of the crowd, and the calls of street vendors.
With the busy traffic, it would be weird if he could hear.
Muxia could only watch helplessly as he continued to move forward.
Soon, he was about to cross the bridge.
Lush willow trees lined both sides of the bridge, the setting sun casting shimring light upon them.
A rabbit-patterned balloon was caught on the branches of the willow trees. A little girl on the bridge jumped up and down, trying to grab the balloon, but she was simply too short to reach it.
This height might be challenging for a child of a few years, but for Xu Zeming, it was just a matter of plucking it down effortlessly.
However, Xu Zeming passed by the little girl as if he hadn’t seen her, not showing any intention to help.
Seeing this scene, Muxia was incredulous, her mouth agape as she stared at his indifferent back.
If it were anyone else standing by and doing nothing, she wouldn’t care too much.
But he was different!
He was the person she liked!
Originally, she fell for him because he was always willing to help others and had good character.
But now…
Could it be that he didn’t see?
Or was he worried about being scamd by the child?
He was the person she liked; Muxia racked her brain trying to make up for the flaws in the image she held of him in her heart.
As Muxia was imrsed in her own world, Jiang Qingchen stopped the car, turned to look at her, and said, “Muxia, there’s a little girl up ahead whose balloon is stuck in a tree. I’m going to help.”
With those words, he prepared to stride over.
“I’ll co too,” Muxia regained her senses and said instinctively.
Jiang Qingchen nodded, “Then let’s go together.”
Jiang Qingchen was the first to arrive at the willow tree with the trapped balloon.
The willow tree, growing by the roadside, was covered with dust, spider webs, and other suspicious stains, but he acted as if he didn’t see them, leaning forward, stretching his arm out toward the balloon.
The dust and sticky spider webs on the willow leaves clung to his skin, yet he continued to grasp the balloon.
Muxia’s heart felt as if it had been struck, her lips trembling as she stood there dumbfounded, staring at him as if she didn’t recognize him.
Certainly, certainly he was a person with a mania for cleanliness!
But now, to help others, he didn’t even mind touching such a dirty tree.
Why hadn’t she noticed before just how loving he was?
He was even willing to endure the discomfort that his obsession with cleanliness brought!
With his tall stature, Jiang Qingchen easily retrieved the balloon that the little girl hadn’t been able to reach.
“Wow!” Seeing the balloon finally co down from the tree, the little girl let out an excited cry and broke into a smile.
After grabbing the balloon, Jiang Qingchen gently squatted in front of the little girl, handing her the balloon, “Here, hold on carefully this ti. Don’t let it fly away again, okay?”
“I will, thank you, brother…” the little girl nodded, her voice tearful and childish.
After the little girl hopped and skipped away, Muxia’s gaze still clung tightly to his face.
It was as if it were glued there.
“What’s wrong with my face?” He couldn’t help but ask, feeling unnerved by her stare, and subconsciously touched his face.
His hand, already dirty from the willow tree, sared his originally clean face with gri.
Muxia couldn’t help but laugh, “There was nothing wrong with your face, but now look what you’ve done. You’ve turned into a tabby cat, Jiang Tabby Cat!”
Realizing what a foolish thing he had done, Jiang Qingchen’s face darkened instantly.
However, seeing her laughing so happily, his face quickly returned to normal. His eyes, reflecting her hearty laughter, even seed to fill with warmth.
As long as she was happy, even if his face were as dirty as a leopard’s, he would relish it.
After laughing, Muxia finally answered his earlier question, “Do you know why I was staring at you just now?”
“Why?” Jiang Qingchen really wanted to know.
Muxia looked up with admiration, gazing at his face, “Because… you’re willing to help others, you have such a caring heart, and suddenly your image seed so much taller, just… really charming!”
Her words were sowhat unclear, but Jiang Qingchen understood the sentint perfectly.
In essence, she was dazzled by his appeal!
This conclusion lifted Jiang Qingchen’s spirits, especially the girl’s admiring gaze fixed on him, it was truly heartwarming!
Even delivering a backpack for a rival didn’t seem like a big deal anymore.
