Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Going Ho to Eat Ready-Made Food Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Going Ho to Eat Ready-Made Food Their school was originally a vocational middle school, and after continuous efforts by the school, it was finally upgraded to a high school, which is when their school started to take study a bit more seriously.

The evening self-study sessions were mainly arranged for the boarding students who didn’t have much to do after school; they would either wander around aimlessly or get involved in various shenanigans. So lacked self-discipline—they wouldn’t read or do their howork. Over ti, problems would arise, so the school established the self-study ti to provide everyone a platform to study and do their howork, but really, it was to keep everyone out of trouble.

And for those like them who lived nearby, they would occasionally join the school’s evening self-study, gather together to do howork and such; if there were any questions, it was convenient to ask each other. However, attendance was not compulsory, so as long as you inford the teacher about not attending the evening self-study, it was fine.

But whether or not to attend the self-study wasn’t Mi Liang’s main concern; he was worried about whether i ngzhen could study properly at ho with her brother. Such an important mont as the senior year, her grades were already not that good; if by any chance she fell behind… that would be holding her back.

i ngzhen explained, “It’ll be fine, teacher. My brother is very well-behaved. He just lacks a sense of security. He was always quietly by my side when I read books during the sumr vacation. We’ll have a lot of exams in senior year too. If my grades drop, I can still join the evening self-study.”

Hearing i ngzhen say this, Mi Liang didn’t know what else to say. He couldn’t exactly tell her to abandon her brother. “Alright, it’s fine as long as you’ve made your decision. If you have any difficulties, talk to the teacher. More people could an more solutions.”

With that, Mi Liang took her back to the classroom.

The noisy classroom beca quiet again with her arrival.

i ngzhen was at a loss for words. What was all the fuss about—couldn’t they just get on with their studies?

Under everyone’s gaze, she returned to her seat, exchanged a look with Liang Xiao, and handed in her sumr vacation howork.

The sumr vacation howork was definitely not to be forgotten. Moreover, this entire morning, their entire ti was spent in examinations.

From being fresh to roasted, it only took a morning. When everyone saw her again, their gazes had changed from lively to vacant.

Finally, a classmate couldn’t bear it anymore, wailing at the mont school was dismissed for the morning break, “This is too cruel, how can they do this to us on the first day of school.”

The Class President, a tall guy over 180cm with glasses, stood up and said to this student, “We’re in senior year now, this is just the beginning.”

“It’s not that I don’t want to go to college,” the student retorted, having a clear picture of his future.

If you don’t want to go to college, why put so much pressure on yourself? Just get on with it casually,” the Class President replied.

“But your atmosphere has influenced , I couldn’t help but strive. However, I really didn’t want to.”

After a round of laughter, the students slowly made their way out of the school. Their school didn’t have a Cafeteria, so breakfast and lunch were sorted out at the school gate. Correspondingly, the lunch break was slightly longer than at other schools. However, for those students who lived close by like them, naturally, they went ho for lunch. The round trip took about the sa amount of ti, so after finishing lunch, they had to hurry back to school.

i ngzhen had prepared lunch early in the morning. When she got ho, Fan Tianyu and i ngchen were watching cartoons. Hearing the noise at the door, they quickly greeted her, especially Chenchen who trotted towards her and hugged her leg, saying affectionately, “Sister, you’re back.”

i ngzhen patted his head, her little brother was too cute, and being so young, he let her caress him. If he had been older and worried about balding, he definitely wouldn’t let her touch his head. “Sister is back, let’s have lunch; we have to go back to class in the afternoon.”

Fan Tianyu quickly took the three lunchboxes out of the fridge, then heated them one by one in the microwave. Once the food was warm, they started eating with a glass of juice.

When it ca to eating, Fan Tianyu had sothing to say, “Look Zhenzhen, I ca here to help, but ended up not doing anything—that can’t be right.”

i ngzhen shook her head, stating that it was already good enough that he watched over her brother. She had seen the clean dishes in the kitchen, so it wasn’t true that he did nothing, “You washed the dishes, didn’t you?”

Washing dishes wasn’t really anything substantial. Initially, he thought he would at least be preparing lunch or dinner, but now he didn’t have to worry about lunch either, which seed too good to be true. “What ti do you guys finish class? I’ll take you out for dinner,” he offered.

“No need, Chenchen doesn’t like eating out. It’s better if we cook at ho, we still have plenty of vegetables,” ngzhen replied.

Chenchen scooped up so rice with his spoon, blew on it several tis before he put it in his mouth, and quickly chid in upon hearing ngzhen’s words, “Yeah, I don’t like the food from outside.”

He was picky and only loved the food his sister made.

After having tasted ngzhen’s cooking, Tianyu also didn’t enjoy outside food much, but he couldn’t really let his senior year sister cook for her brother and himself when he was free, that would be too shaless. “Then let cook tonight. I think if the food you make is this delicious, I probably won’t make it taste bad,” he suggested.

ngzhen didn’t object to that—not because it would lighten her workload, but genuinely because anyone cooking those dishes would make them taste good, which had nothing to do with her culinary skills. “Sure, there are greens on top of the fridge, and on the bottom there is pork, beef, and there are also chicken and duck, even goose. Whatever you want to eat, just cook. Chenchen, tell Brother Tianyu what you want to eat, and let him cook it for you,” she said.

“What ti do you finish class tonight?”

“5:40. Why, Brother Tianyu, am I coming back to a ready-made al? Just don’t burn the kitchen down, or maybe I should cook when I get back, in case we need more people to put out the fire,” ngzhen teased. Tianyu couldn’t let go of the task of cooking just because of what ngzhen said. “Heh, even if I can’t cook, I wouldn’t burn the kitchen down.”

“Brother Tianyu, you’re really confident, have you ever cooked before?”

He hadn’t, but he had boiled noodles before; how could he possibly fail at frying a few dishes? “Just wait to eat when you co back, and cut the chatter,” he said.

ngzhen didn’t argue and quickly finished her lunch in ti, then returned to the classroom.

The truth was, their class’s study atmosphere wasn’t too intense, but the students were distinctly categorized. The first two rows were for students with good academic performance—everyone was reviewing notes and prepping for exams. The middle two rows belonged to students with average grades—so were reading while others were gossiping with desk mates. ngzhen and Liang Xiao were among the students in these middle rows.

The remaining rows had a mix of activities: playing chess, eating, gaming, watching videos, and reading novels. In short, there was nothing you couldn’t find. But the last two rows didn’t affect the study progress of the students in the front rows at all.

With everyone sticking to their designated areas and engaging in their own activities, no excess noise would disturb others. Perhaps this was an unspoken understanding among students.
