Immunosuppressant?
Lai Wenyan and Old Madam Lai exchanged a glance.
Even though they didn’t fully understand, the doctor’s expression told them this was not sothing good!
The first to panic was Old Madam Lai.
Lai Wenyan was her only son.
She had always valued this son more than her own life.
The doctor, pressed by the old lady, patiently explained: "An immunosuppressant is a drug that suppresses the body’s immune response, inhibiting the proliferation and function of cells related to the immune response, thereby reducing the antibody immune reaction."
What the hell is this?!
Old Madam Lai still looked bewildered.
The doctor had to give an example: "For diseases like skin fungal infections and rheumatoid arthritis, we use immunosuppressants. Including mbranous nephropathy."
When nephritis was ntioned, the doctor looked at Lai Wenyan again.
That look was too targeted.
Not only Lai Wenyan, but even Old Madam Lai understood.
Nephritis implies kidney problems.
When a man’s kidneys are not good, it equates to problems with sexual function.
"That’s impossible!" Old Madam Lai was the first to deny it: "My son is only this old, how could he have such issues!"
If my son really had weak kidneys, then what about that female college student?
Could it be he paid just for a pleasing view?!
Moreover, his wife just miscarried.
The doctor didn’t argue, but rather asked the patient: "If I’m not mistaken, Mr. Lai has been experiencing dizziness frequently, right?"
Lai Wenyan’s eye twitched hard.
He thought he was just exhausted these days.
"If there’s a kidney function issue, I still recomnd seeing a doctor promptly. Self-dicating is very likely to be counterproductive."
"..." Lai Wenyan’s temples throbbed.
To hell with kidney function issues!
He’s lived for over fifty years, and both his kidneys have always been fine.
Not to ntion, he’s never taken any dication for such issues!
But thinking about how he’s been inadequate lately, he didn’t refute the doctor.
Instead, Old Madam Lai objected first!
"My son’s always been healthy. We have several kids at ho. Even for minor ailnts like headaches or colds, he rarely takes dicine, let alone those damn immunosuppressants!"
Seeing that the patient and his family had the sa attitude, the doctor handed over a few blood test reports: "Mr. Lai’s white blood cells and platelets are below normal, which is a common side effect of excessive immunosuppressant drug use."
Old Madam Lai snatched the report only to find nothing.
—She hadn’t brought her reading glasses!
She then turned around, asking her son to look at the blood test report himself.
When Lai Wenyan saw the obvious abnormal numbers on the report, especially when he heard the doctor’s comnt that ’this dication also affects male fertility,’ his temples throbbed even more violently.
At that mont, it seed all his symptoms found their root cause.
Learning her son might be infertile, Old Madam Lai’s mind buzzed and she beca imdiately flustered.
After the doctor closed the door and left, she imdiately sought confirmation from her son: "Wenyan, tell honestly, is your health... is it really..."
Those two words ’weak kidneys’ wouldn’t co out.
It’s not that she was concerned about her son’s dignity; she simply couldn’t accept this fact!
—Could it be the Lai family would really have no descendants?!
Seeing Lai Wenyan remain silent, only staring grimly at the blood test report, what was there left to not understand?
Thinking of the child Ouyang Qian had lost, Old Madam Lai’s vision went black, and she collapsed onto the hospital bed!
