"Didn’t hurt yourself, did you?" Tang Li asked.

Fortunately, Song Jingtian was a tough kid. He lifted his head, spit out the dirt and grass from his mouth, and groped around with his small hands until he found a piece of wood to help himself up.

Just as he steadied himself, the ladder toppled over beside the tree.

Tang Li: "..."

Song Jingtian: "..."

The little guy was too guilty to et her eyes.

The last ti Tang Li climbed a tree by hand was nine years ago.

"How about you slide down by yourself?" Song Jingtian praised his own quick thinking.

Tang Li was both angry and amused.

She was, after all, a bride today.

What kind of bride acts like a monkey climbing into the sky on her wedding day?

Moreover, she was wearing a dress.

"Slide down, my foot!" Tang Li picked a few leaves and tossed them at the culprit, "Hurry and get soone to put the ladder back up properly."

Song Jingtian, with a few green leaves stuck to his head, dashed towards the main building.

Watching Song Jingtian run off into the distance, Tang Li felt less anxious and decided to enjoy the night scene, when a clear, amused male voice ca from below: "Can’t get down?"

Tang Li looked down and saw the person under the tree.

Even with poor night visibility, she recognized him.

At the dinner table earlier, Song Baiyan had briefly introduced him to her, so Tang Li knew his na was ng Shu. He called Song Baiyan his cousin because his real aunt was Xiao Minglan’s late brother’s wife.

Song Baiyan had registered the marriage with her, and aside from the Fu and Bai families, no other relatives or friends were inford.

ng Shu knew because of his mother.

ng’s Mother worked at the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

They registered in the afternoon, and Tang Li guessed it must have gone through ng’s Mother’s hands.

Otherwise, ng Shu wouldn’t have shown up at Tan Palace in the evening.

Noticing the ladder on the lawn, ng Shu bent down and propped it back against the pine tree trunk.

The top of the ladder was right by Tang Li’s feet.

But she didn’t move.

"Not coming down? Planning to spend the night up there?" ng Shu’s face still wore a smile.

The twenty-year-old Tang Li had seen much of the world, and combined with her past life experiences, she was far more cautious about interactions between n and won than her peers.

If the person was an old man, Tang Li might have co down.

In reality, the person was young and unmarried.

He was a pretty handso guy.

Having entered the entertainnt circle, Tang Li had seen many stunning male celebrities, yet ng Shu had an added touch of elegance and the refined manners of a noble prince straight out of a Korean drama.

Such people often easily earn the trust of the opposite sex.

However, looking at ng Shu under the tree, Tang Li felt no goodwill.

If she were ng Shu, to avoid gossip, she would have quietly backed away after setting up the ladder, instead of staying put like a hunter lying in wait.

"Really not planning to co down?"

ng Shu continued to smile.

His poised deanor made it seem like he was confident the person in the tree would comply.

Tang Li glanced at the lit up main building of Tan Palace, then looked at ng Shu again, her tone uneasy: "I’m afraid the ladder might tip over again."

"Aren’t I right here below?" Seeing her extend a foot only to retract it, ng Shu approached and held the ladder, "Is this better?"

"Hold it with both hands."

Cooperatively, ng Shu placed both hands on the ladder.

A gentle night breeze rustled the checkered skirt, casting shadows of the tree.

Tang Li: "Alright, I’m coming down now."

ng Shu looked up at the sound. Sothing fell from above before he could see what it was, and his nose suddenly hurt: "..."

At that mont, a familiar male voice sounded from behind him: "Is there a flower up in that tree? Both of you just standing there like fools?"
