Chapter 653: Chapter 653: There Will Never Be a Place for Her in This Family

The next morning.

Lai Yuaner yawned as she descended the stairs, only to find Tang Li already seated in the dining room, having breakfast.

Ever since Aunt Wu left the Lai Family, the other servants had beco extrely cautious around Tang Li, not daring to show even the slightest disrespect, for fear of offending her and being thrown out.

Whether it was Old Madam Lai’s nursemaid or the other two dostic workers, none were hired through an agency, and in truth, each had so distant relation to the Lai Family. Because of this, none of them dared to gossip about the Lai Family’s affairs.

Even with Tang Li’s identity, although she would never call Lai Wenyan “father” in front of them, they all had their suspicions, yet none would pierce through that delicate veil of secrecy.

Tang Li had just put down her milk glass when soone sat across from her. Looking up, Lai Yuaner, with her dium-length hair, greeted her with a smile that grew brighter once the servants stepped into the kitchen. Lai Yuaner spoke, “I heard you brought Fu Si ho?”

“Yes, I did bring him back.” Tang Li nodded, her gaze fixed on Lai Yuaner, a faint smile on her face: “Asking so suddenly, do you want to introduce him to you as a boyfriend?”

Such a lightly phrased counter-question left Lai Yuaner speechless, unable to catch her breath.

The smile on Lai Yuaner’s lips deepened: “Actually, Fu Si and I have been classmates since childhood. In elentary school, he repeatedly pulled my ponytails. Later on, when he skipped grades, he continued to cause trouble in middle school, leading to a lot of misunderstandings among classmates, causing to explain myself for a long ti.”

Tang Li chid in, “It sounds like he really annoyed you.”

“…” Lai Yuaner.

“I was considering introducing you two, but it seems better not to now.”

Tang Li picked up the napkin from her lap, placed it on the table, and while still smiling, looked at Lai Yuaner: “Fu Si has a bad temper and has no principle against hitting won. Since he’s always been at odds with you since childhood, you should be even more cautious around him now.”

Lai Yuaner clenched her teeth in secret, but her face still wore a smile: “I believe Fu Si wouldn’t hit people without reason. Besides, even if we did et, there would be elders from both our families present.”

“Since you’re so confident, I won’t say any more.”

As Tang Li’s voice trailed off, the gates of the Lai family villa opened, and Lai Shengxia returned from her run.

Lai Shengxia, dressed in sportswear, held a newspaper in her left hand.

“Are you up?” Lai Shengxia entered the dining room, greeting Lai Yuaner as she casually placed the newspaper on the table, then rested her hand on Lai Yuaner’s shoulder: “Have you adjusted to the ti difference?”

As she spoke, she noticed from the corner of her eye that Tang Li had already turned her attention to the finance section of the newspaper.

It was news about Golden Sand Group investing in a new port in Shangbu.

Lai Shengxia no longer embraced Lai Yuaner: “I’m going to head up for a quick shower.”

By the ti she ca down again, only Lai Yuaner was in the dining room, and the newspaper was gone. Lai Shengxia sat down beside the table and asked Lai Yuaner, “Did Tang Li leave?”

“Yep, and she took your newspaper with her.”

Lai Yuaner glanced towards the door, gripping the cutlery in her hand, and whispered, “One day, I will make her kneel before like a dog. The humiliation I’ve endured, I will return it back to this illegitimate daughter a hundredfold, thousandfold!”

“Then you need to curb your impulsiveness and rashness,” Lai Shengxia admonished her, “like not voicing such thoughts ever again.”

Lai Yuaner instantly fell silent.

After a while, she finally spoke up, “I just can’t stand to see her be so arrogant.”

“Do you really think Tang Li can be arrogant forever?”

At these words, Lai Yuaner looked at her elder sister.

Lai Shengxia picked up a spoon nearby: “An insignificant person, no matter how wild she gets, how long can she really go on for?” As she spoke, she looked up at Lai Yuaner with a gentler gaze: “Just rember, in this household, there has never been, nor will there ever be a place for her.”
