Tang Li reached out and grabbed the other end of the cane.
Old Madam Lai was shocked: “Are you rebelling against the heavens, let go!”
Upon hearing this, Tang Li slightly curved her lips into a smile, but her eyes were a bit cold as she faced the irate Old Madam Lai: “You still have one foot outside the coffin; how could I have the heart to go first?”
“You—!” Old Madam Lai was livid.
She turned her head, shouting towards the staircase: “Who let her in? Co up here and get her out!”
Lai Shengxia had already co over, supporting the trembling Old Madam Lai: “Grandmother, don’t be angry, Ah Li is just coming ho to look around, we can talk things out nicely.”

Tang Li walked out of the villa and happened to et Lai Wenyan and his wife coming ho.
A black sedan slowly stopped ahead; Lai Wenyan and Ouyang Qian were seated in the back. The driver opened the door, and Lai Wenyan got out first, then turned and took Ouyang Qian’s right hand to help her out of the car.
A display of marital affection, that was Tang Li’s first impression.
Then, rembering Tang Yin, she found the scene in front of her sowhat ironic.
Ouyang Qian linked arms with her husband. They had had an argunt a few days earlier, but having been married for nearly thirty years, they made up the next day. With Yuanyuan overseas, the house felt much emptier, and Lai Wenyan treated her with increasing fondness.
“Let’s call Yuanyuan after dinner and check on how she’s doing over there.”
“It’s a bit early, Yuanyuan might still be asleep…”
Ouyang Qian’s high heels stopped when she caught sight of Tang Li.
Lai Wenyan also noticed Tang Li standing on the steps.

Lai Wenyan was the first to speak: “Did I say you could leave?!”
His tone was interrogatory, and the drivers and servants nearby didn’t dare to make a sound.
“You go inside first.” Lai Wenyan turned his head and told his wife with a soft voice: “I have a few words to say to her.”
After Ouyang Qian and the servants all left, only the father and daughter remained in the courtyard of the villa.
