Chapter 228: Chapter 228: All is Pure Where There is No Thought

Compared to other newly renovated large temples, Guangyuan Temple was not particularly big. It took Tang Li nearly an hour to climb to the top of the mountain.

However, as soon as she arrived at the temple entrance, she was stopped.

A young monk in robes was the one who stopped her.

Seeing that Tang Li was just a young girl, he inford her kindly, “The temple is not receiving worshippers these days. Please co back another day, donor. You are requested to leave for today.”

Tang Li explained, “I called your temple beforehand to ask to place my mother’s urn here, and the monk who answered the phone had agreed.”

“It’s not that I’m intentionally making things difficult.” The young monk showed a troubled expression as he scratched his ear and said, “It’s just that it’s inconvenient these days. A prestigious guest has arrived at the temple, and for safety reasons, as repeatedly instructed by the abbot, we cannot receive other worshippers.”

Hearing this, Tang Li’s expression faltered.

Director Bai had clearly stated that Song Baiyan would not co here until the end of the month.

Just then, an older monk ca out.

Seeing Tang Li standing at the entrance, he asked the young monk what was going on. After learning that Tang Li had co to place a relative’s ashes, he pondered for a mont before saying, “Then co in, but please leave promptly after you place the items.”

“Okay.” Tang Li nodded and did not forget to express her gratitude.

Tang Li was led to the Ksitigarbha Hall, specifically designated for storing urns.

Half an hour later, she ca out from the hall, and the middle-aged monk led her back the way they ca, saying, “It’s not that we’re not hospitable, but there is indeed sothing going on in the temple. If we were in any way lacking, please do not take offense.”

“By allowing to bring my mother’s urn in and preventing my trip today from being in vain, I am already very grateful. How could I bla you?”

As they talked, they had already reached the vicinity of the main hall.

Tang Li glanced over and saw a familiar figure.

Ji Ming was standing under the eaves outside the hall, surrounded by a few n in black. Both their expressions and movents exuded the rigor of professional training. It was clear that they were personal guards with military backgrounds, tasked with the safety of so political figures.

The middle-aged monk said, “Since this area is blocked, I’ll take you another way.”

No sooner had he finished than Ji Ming looked their way.

Tang Li did not deliberately avoid him.

When Ji Ming recognized Tang Li, he was surprised and guessed that she was about to leave with the monk. He turned his head and told his personal guard, who imdiately ca over and inford the middle-aged monk intending to take a detour, “You can go forward. There’s no need to take a long way around.”

The monk joined his hands in thanks and then led Tang Li away.

Before they could leave, soone ca out of the main hall.

Seeing Song Baiyan, Tang Li found her feet hard to move.

On the way here, she had ntally told herself it was not intentional to choose the end of the month, but rely coincidental since she was free lately. Now, encountering Song Baiyan, she couldn’t ignore the turbulent, indescribable emotions welling up inside her.

In the middle of the open space outside the main hall, a large incense burner made of copper and iron emitted the fragrance of agarwood. Tang Li slled the faint scent. Song Baiyan stood outside the incense burner, receiving several sticks of Buddhist incense from the abbot, and his tall and straight figure, while lighting the incense, exuded a surreal sense of detachnt.

“To dwell in non-attachnt is purity. In the attainnt of purity, one must not conceive the idea of purity; that is called non-purity. In the attainnt of non-purity, one must not conceive the idea of non-purity either; this is the non-non-purity.”

The serene voice of the old abbot drifted faintly.

Tang Li didn’t pay much attention, as her focus remained on Song Baiyan.
