Capítulo 1028: Chapter 1028: Beauty’s Farewell to Her Beloved [Part 2]

“This flower is quite beautiful,” Ji Ming remarked, giving it a once-over.

“Isn’t it?” Tang Li smiled, her hands once again clasped behind her back. “A sword for a warrior, and rouge for a beauty.”

Ji Ming: “…”

Despite his years of battle-hardened experience, he ended up earning the title of “beauty.”

In the entertainnt world, such a thing might be called “idolization.”

Finally—

The Miss Tang, who had been eroded by idol culture, eventually made a move on him.

Watching Ji Ming get into the car and leave, Tang Li didn’t forget to wave her hand and then walked slowly, hands behind her back, into the Lai Family’s main door.

As soon as she reached the second floor, Tang Li saw Lai Shengxia by the window in the corridor.

That window faced directly to the main entrance.

Lai Shengxia was in a wheelchair, her long curly hair, reaching down to her waist, had been cut short. The right side of her face was covered with gauze, and her face was thin and gaunt, no longer adorned with the sa delicate makeup, indeed she looked sowhat like a patient.

Hearing the footsteps, Lai Shengxia turned her head as well.

As she t Tang Li’s gaze, she lightly curled her lips. “I heard that Ah Li arranged a good marriage long ago. Seeing it now, it appears you and he are getting along very well.”

“Elder sister speaks so coherently, not at all like soone who is ntally unwell.” Tang Li looked at Lai Shengxia, a curve forming at her lips as well. “It seems elder sister has been actively participating in treatnt at the sanatorium. I believe it won’t be long before the police see a fully healthy elder sister.”

Lai Shengxia’s hands, resting on the wheelchair’s armrests, tightened slightly without a trace.

Her current predicant was largely thanks to Tang Li.

If she left the sanatorium, what awaited her would be five years or even longer of prison life.

Just as Tang Li was about to return to her room, Lai Shengxia’s voice ca again, “Thinking about it, he must truly love you, otherwise, with only your grandfather being Tang Shen, it would be difficult for you, Ah Li, to secure a good family.”

“Luckily, our father is helping you cover up.” Lai Shengxia’s face held a faint smile again. “Compared to and Yuanyuan, you are now father’s darling.”

Tang Li redirected her gaze back to Lai Shengxia, locking eyes with her. “Excellent people are always easily favored. Perhaps once elder sister and Yuanyuan beco like , you will understand why father loves more.”

“…”

Excellent?

More like shaless!

Thinking about what her mother said about Tang Li’s recent actions, Lai Shengxia didn’t express her true emotions, just locked her doe-eyed gaze on Tang Li, slightly curling her lips. “If I’m not mistaken, Ah Li, you should be turning 20 years old. I hope one day, I can see your wedding with him.”

“Those words from elder sister remind of sothing.”

Tang Li smiled along. “As a family sharing honor and disgrace, I must reserve two seats for Aunt Qian and Yuanyuan at my wedding.”

Lai Shengxia’s eyelid twitched slightly.

Before she could respond, Tang Li had returned to her room.

Ouyang Qian erged from her younger daughter’s room, noticing her elder daughter’s unusual expression. “What happened?”

“Tang Li is back,” Lai Shengxia inford.

“If she’s back, she’s back. Do we have to go greet her at the door or sothing?”

At the ntion of Tang Li, Ouyang Qian’s expression imdiately cooled a few degrees.

After Lai Shengxia was wheeled back to her room, she further asked her mother, “The business bureau hasn’t registered the change in stock ownership yet?”

“It’s just that it’s the weekend.” Ouyang Qian pushed the wheelchair to the bedside. “Lawyer Zeng went to urge them this afternoon. It’s likely to be done in the next few days.”

Once that procedure is complete, it would be the day the three of them—mother and daughters—head abroad.

“Isn’t the new neighbor who moved in later the director of the Capital’s business bureau? Why don’t you go say hello?”

“Don’t ntion it.” Ouyang Qian sighed. “Your sister had a bit of a conflict with the man’s husband last ti, and afterward, he wouldn’t even greet us when he saw us.”

As she spoke, she rembered another crucial matter. “That woman from Pingxiang has already reached the Capital.”

“I’ve arranged for her to stay in a hotel, and I’ll bring her ho the day before going back to the sanatorium. By then, her facial wound should be scabbed over.”

But Lai Shengxia said, “Have her co over tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?” Ouyang Qian hesitated. “Isn’t that a bit too rushed?”

Ouyang Qian didn’t agree with having the woman stay at their house. “There are too many eyes and ears among the Lai Family People. If your father sees her, it might raise unnecessary suspicions.”

“I suddenly feel a bit uneasy.” Lai Shengxia has always trusted her instincts.

She raised her eyes to Ouyang Qian, “Tomorrow morning, call the sanatorium and have them send a car to pick her up. After they’ve left, we will go to the airport.”

Ouyang Qian understood her daughter’s aning, but it felt too hasty.

In her plan, next week was the predetermined ti.

Seeing her mother’s hesitation, Lai Shengxia added, “Actually, tomorrow is the most suitable day. Father is busy preparing for the election, so he’s unlikely to notice other matters. As for the stock ownership change, all necessary signatures have been completed. Lawyer Zeng can be fully entrusted with it, and he can send the docunts to Vancouver afterward.”

“The longer we delay, the more potential complications there are.”

Lai Shengxia couldn’t help explaining, “Since you’re unwilling to fill that billion-dollar gap for father, given his suspicious nature, once he’s free, he’ll likely scrutinize the family accounts.”

By then, it would be impossible to conceal the stock transfer.

Ouyang Qian’s face turned slightly pale, fully aware her daughter wasn’t just fearmongering.

If Lai Wenyan indeed discovered anything, all plans would be ruined.

Releasing her daughter’s slightly cool hands, Ouyang Qian stood up. “I’ll go back to the room and reschedule the tickets now.”

After entering her room, Tang Li still pondered over the words of Lai Shengxia.

She didn’t believe Lai Shengxia ntioned the wedding out of genuine good will to bless her.

It was also because of what Lai Shengxia said that Tang Li suddenly realized—though she hadn’t been calculative with Ouyang Qian and Lai Yuaner, it didn’t an they would spare her.

Once Ouyang Qian and Lai Wenyan dissolved their marriage, there would be no shared interests.

Without involving her own interests, Ouyang Qian wouldn’t keep silent like before.

When cold water ran over her hand, Tang Li made a decision.

It was best if Lai Wenyan and Ouyang Qian, the loving couple, didn’t divorce.

Now her Aunt Qian was planning to leave the country behind her father’s back. To maintain this marriage, Tang Li resolved she couldn’t remain a cold-blooded observer.

Lai Wenyan coming ho tonight was still because of that phone call from Song Baiyan.

The big boss specified he’d co to the Lai Family to collect that hundred million, and perhaps he casually set the location, but Lai Wenyan couldn’t act presumptuously by saying, ‘Have your guard bring it to the hospital instead.’

With Ji Ming gone, Lai Wenyan didn’t plan to stay ho any longer.

Just as he got in the car, he received a call from Tang Li.

“Dad, you better keep an eye on Aunt Qian lately.”

It was an abrupt comnt that Lai Wenyan didn’t fully understand when suddenly, Tang Li’s voice ca through the receiver again, “I just walked past the master bedroom and heard Aunt Qian chatting with elder sister.” After a two-second pause, Tang Li continued, “Dad, be prepared ntally. A senior executive from Tianyi has been pursuing Aunt Qian relentlessly, even promising to take her to the United States to build a love nest together.”
