Chapter 101: Chapter 101 The Runaway Child Chapter 101: Chapter 101 The Runaway Child Song Jingtian jerked his chin up and looked at her with his nostrils, not yet fully forgiving her “betrayal.”

The security guards failed to catch the ruffians and quickly returned.

Tang Li thanked them, and after the security guards left, Song Jingtian gave her a glance. His little face bore an awkward yet haughty expression: “Why didn’t you ask where I got hurt?”

“It’s all on your face.” Her overly casual tone shattered the little guy’s heart. While rolling up his sleeve, he complained, “It’s not just the face, here, here! Look for yourself, bruises everywhere, they also kicked several tis!”

He rolled up his pant leg to show Tang Li the bruises on his calf.

Tang Li asked, “What did you do to make them beat you like this?”

“Do bad guys need a reason to do bad things?”

The little guy was sowhat smug.

With that, he glanced at Tang Li, seemingly worried she’d be upset, and explained with a grunt, “I saw them bullying a girl. I told them to stop, and they brought here and beat up.”

“You must have said sothing offensive.”

Song Jingtian glared at her, the picture of a wounded little figure.

“Typical thugs don’t hit kids.” Tang Li said, “Unless the kid made them unhappy.”

Seeing Song Jingtian look guilty, she didn’t press further. She patted the dust off his pants and picked up the Corgi’s leash, “Let’s take care of your injuries first.”

Two minutes later, Song Jingtian was seated in front of a convenience store window.

The Corgi lay next to the bar stool.

Tang Li bought so linint and band-aids from a drugstore on the street. When she pushed open the door, she saw Song Jingtian’s chubby little hand resting on the front bar of the window, twisting on the bar stool underneath him, not looking at all like soone who had just been roughed up.

After treating the child’s leg bruises with the linint, Tang Li pulled his jeans back down: “Have you called your family?”

Before going to the drugstore, she had lent her cellphone to Song Jingtian.

The little guy vaguely responded, “They’re a bit busy right now, told to go back to school with you first.”

Song Jingtian had indeed asked her earlier which university she attended.

Looking at the dark sky outside, Tang Li couldn’t leave the child and the dog out here, but she had so howork that was not yet finished, due for an early class tomorrow.

The Art College was actually not far from here, just a three-stop bus ride away.

After so consideration, she took Song Jingtian back to the school.

Wu Xuehan was shocked to see Tang Li bring back a child and a dog to the dorm late at night. As Song Jingtian sat at the desk, holding the dog and munching on the chips Tang Li bought for him with relish, Wu Xuehan followed Tang Li into the kitchen and asked: “Is that your nephew?”

“No.” Tang Li said while pouring hot water, “Picked him up on the road.”

This answer successfully startled Wu Xuehan.

Tang Li laughed at her reaction: “It’s a kid I know, don’t worry, his family will co to pick him up later.”

But the wait lasted until 10:30 p.m.

The Song Family didn’t co to the school to pick him up, nor did they return Tang Li’s phone call.

Doubtful, Tang Li checked the call log and found no outgoing calls between 7 and 8 p.m.

“Did you not ask your family to co for you?”

Song Jingtian was using Wu Xuehan’s cellphone to watch “Toy Story” and feeding “Tiger Whip” biscuits. When he heard Tang Li’s question, he knew he couldn’t hide it any longer and stopped beating around the bush, straightforwardly saying, “My family is not around today, and it’s quite nice here. I’m planning to stay the night.”
