A special table was set up in front, full of items such as brushes, rulers, abacuses, seals, and other traditional items, along with footballs, red dresses, caras, toys, and various other things. At a glance, it was a dazzling array.
Jiang Kechu and Wan Chu’er each held a child and placed them on the table.
"Chuanqi, my chubby little girl, go pick sothing you like," Wan Chu’er told her daughter.
Next to her, Jiang Kechu slightly furrowed his brows, "Chuanqi is not chubby at all; her figure is just right."
Wan Chu’er: "...Got it."
She noticed that since Jiang Kechu ca back, he was extraordinarily indulgent with his daughter. In his eyes, his daughter was perfect, not even a slightly unkind word could be said about her, really... it was so jealousy-inducing.
Little Chuanqi climbed onto the table, her big eyes sparkling as she looked at the items, but instead of grabbing anything, she reached for the longevity lock around Hunter’s neck.
Both were wearing a gold longevity lock given by Old Sir Zhong.
Everyone laughed at this sight, Mrs. Jiang said with a smile, "This girl, ever since she was little, likes to snatch things from Hunter."
Soone jokingly added, "The siblings will definitely have a good relationship in the future."
Wan Chu’er hurriedly reached out to stop her daughter, "Chuanqi, pick sothing from the table, the thing you like the most for Mommy, and Hunter, you go pick sothing too."
Upon understanding her mother’s words, Little Chuanqi turned around and crawled towards the middle of the table, while Hunter wobbled off in a different direction.
Hunter had a clear target; he grabbed a toy pistol from the table and wouldn’t let go, showing no interest in anything else.
"Silly boy." Wan Chu’er scolded with a laugh, this boy’s favorite toy has always been the pistol, and people around them had already started talking about celebratory things, like how Hunter would grow up to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the military to beco a great general.
Jiang Kechu wasn’t affected, but Father Jiang was overjoyed, unable to hide his grin. He always loved seeing his grandchildren willing to join the military, believing that a true man should protect his country and lead a life of valor.
Little Chuanqi was still picking, looking at this, touching that, but not picking anything up.
Mrs. Jiang coaxed, "Grandma’s little Jiaojiao, quickly pick sothing you like the most."
In the end, Chuanqi picked up a small red dress and turned around to give it to Wan Chu’er, picked up a cara for grandma, picked up a toy sword and presented it like a treasure to dad, and that wasn’t all. She struggled out of Jiang Kechu’s grasp to co back to the table, grabbed a piece of cake, and began eating it herself.
Chuanqi’s series of actions made everyone burst into laughter.
Mrs. Jiang was more than happy, telling people, "My granddaughter still thinks of ."
After finishing the rite, Father Jiang said a few words, and then the banquet officially began, filling the hall with liveliness.
After playing for an entire afternoon, the two little ones were yawning non-stop, pecking like little chickens. Wan Chu’er and Jiang Kechu carried the children upstairs to a private room to let them sleep, with Mrs. Zhu and Xiao Liu watching over them.
With so many guests downstairs, Wan Chu’er and Jiang Kechu both needed to entertain the guests, so they returned to the hall.
Just as they descended the stairs, Mao Xiaoyu ca up to her, telling her that Mai Qiqi had left, "Sister-in-law, I’ve put the necklace away in the hotel safe; I’ll get it for you after the event ends."
With all the chaos here, it was more appropriate to keep it in the safe.
Wan Chu’er nodded, "Thank you for your trouble."
Mao Xiaoyu chuckled: "It’s not hard at all," and then turned around to get busy again.
The banquet continued until ten o’clock in the evening, and Old Sir Zhong went back to the old mansion early, leaving the Jiang Family, Mao Xiaoyu, and Li Shan to wrap things up.
Father Jiang said to Jiang Kechu: "Alright, let the others handle the rest. You take Xiao Chu and the children and go ho early to rest. Co back to the courtyard early tomorrow."
"Okay," Jiang Kechu agreed, noticing that Wan Chu’er also looked exhausted.
But no sooner had he spoke, Xiao Liu ca running down the stairs, holding the crying Hunter in panic.
"Not good, Little Miss Zhuanqi is missing!"
"What!" Everyone’s faces instantly changed.
Wan Chu’er staggered and almost fell, but was quickly caught by Jiang Kechu.
Mrs. Jiang also covered her chest, wavering montarily before being embraced by Father Jiang.
Mao Xiaoyu stepped forward to promptly take Hunter from Xiao Liu’s hands, soothing him quietly.
Father Jiang demanded in a deep voice: "What exactly happened, explain yourself."
Xiao Liu, pale with either fear or so other reason, sobbed: "I had just gone to the restroom, and when I returned to the private room, I saw Mrs. Zhu lying on the floor, and Hunter was sitting crying, but Little Miss Zhuanqi was nowhere to be seen. I was afraid sothing else might happen, so I rushed down with Hunter imdiately."
She had not even finished speaking when Li Shan had already dashed upstairs, heading straight for the private room.
"Oh, my Jiaojiao," Mrs. Jiang cried out, heartbroken.
Wan Chu’er had managed to steady herself and told Mao Xiaoyu, "Xiaoyu, stay here and watch Hunter." This place being the hall was relatively safe with the elders and many other staff around. After saying this, she too hurried upstairs with Jiang Kechu.
When they reached the upstairs private room, they saw the door open, and Li Shan kneeling on the floor checking on Mrs. Zhu, who was still unconscious. The room was not in disarray and the children’s belongings were orderly, suggesting that no struggle had occurred.
Li Shan pointed at the open window, "The window is open."
Wan Chu’er rushed to the window, while Jiang Kechu carefully examined the room.
The room was on the second floor, not too high. Looking out, Wan Chu’er saw so crushed plants under the window, likely stepped on, but she couldn’t see any security caras nearby.
Sohow, Li Shan managed to gently wake Mrs. Zhu, who looked around baffled and asked, "What happened?"
Wan Chu’er quickly inquired, "Mrs. Zhu, why are you lying on the floor?"
Mrs. Zhu exclaid, as the mory returned, she anxiously looked around, seeing no sign of the children, she beca frantic: "A man in black clothes ca in, he was keeping his head low, I didn’t get a good look at him. He hit on the neck when I wasn’t paying attention, and I passed out.
Could he have taken the child? You must chase him, he wasn’t very tall, looked thin, and was wearing a hat."
Jiang Kechu nodded to Wan Chu’er, saying, "Don’t worry," then he swung himself out of the window and trailed the clues step by step.
Wan Chu’er was anxious, fearing the worst for Little Zhuanqi, yet knew following Jiang Kechu would be futile.
With Father Jiang overseeing other matters in the hotel, she focused entirely on the hotel investigation. She first reviewed all the hotel’s surveillance positions and with others, checked the footage of those crucial few minutes, soon spotting a figure in black clothing, carrying a child.
