Xiao Bai burst into laughter, even taking the opportunity to flick Chuchu’s forehead when she wasn’t paying attention.

Wan Chu’er took a deep breath, her eyes bulging, and swung her fist towards Xiao Bai.

The playful Xiao Bai imdiately dodged and began circling around his brother Dabai and Bai Zhixi, Wan Chu’er’s eyebrows inverted with the desire to flick him back, grinding her teeth in frustration.

Now she was not soone to suffer losses easily, and she felt that this Xiao Bai was making a fool out of her, thinking a thirty-six-year-old like her was taken advantage of by a twenty-sothing pretty boy felt utterly humiliating.

As Xiao Bai ran, he stuck out his tongue and made faces at her, further fueling Wan Chu’er’s anger. She thought to herself that she must catch this little scamp and give him a good thrashing, to teach him that you can’t ss with the tiger’s behind!

For a mont, other than the two involved, Dabai and Bai Zhixi, and a server next to them were all stunned into silence.

Such a grown man teasing a sixteen-year-old girl.

He’s really up for so fun!

While trying to stop his brother, Dabai awkwardly apologized to Bai Zhixi.

"Sorry about that, my brother is always mischievous."

Bai Zhixi also spoke with slight embarrassnt: "Chuchu has been spoiled by , and her temper isn’t that great either."

Both of them laughed nervously and went to stop their respective brother/daughter.

"Xiao Bai, stop right there!" Dabai grabbed his brother.

Bai Zhixi also persuaded Wan Chu’er: "Chuchu, stop causing trouble, we need to go ho."

When Wan Chu’er saw Xiao Bai being held by his brother, she went up and flicked him on the forehead.

"Ouch, why so hard? It hurts a lot," Xiao Bai complained, covering his forehead and also complaining about his own brother, "Bro, why are you siding with Wan Chu’er?"

Dabai said with a helpless face: "How old are you to bully a young girl!"

Hearing Dabai say so, Wan Chu’er shot Xiao Bai a glare and turned to pull Bai Zhixi’s arm, heading out.

Behind them, Xiao Bai’s voice followed: "Hey hey, let drive you guys ho, I still need to grab the pickled cucumbers."

On the way back to the Glass Factory Family Quarters, Wan Chu’er took advantage of Bai Zhixi’s inattention to sabotage Xiao Bai several tis, leaving him grinning in pain.

Finally arriving at the Glass Factory Family Quarters, Xiao Bai’s car drove straight into the yard, imdiately attracting onlookers.

The people living in the Glass Factory Family Quarters were mostly laid-off workers from the glass factory and were very ordinary citizens; no one could afford a car.

Bai Zhixi had just gotten out of the car when Aunt Ma’s voice ca from the second floor: "Mommy Chu’er, whose car is that? It sure looks nice."

The other people in the yard were also curiously waiting for Bai Zhixi’s reply. The Wan Family, known for their modest living conditions, suddenly ca ho in a car, which was eye-opening for everyone.

Bai Zhixi smiled, still unsure of how to respond when Xiao Bai got out of the car, cheerfully saying: "My last na is Bai. I’m Chuchu’s cousin."

Wan Chu’er, who was closing the car door, snorted coldly. Not caring about the onlookers, she went straight to her own ho.

Upon hearing that he was surnad Bai, everyone assud he was so relative of Bai Zhixi’s, their envy apparent.

"Mommy Chu’er, we thought you had no more relatives left, but it turns out your relatives are quite wealthy."

"Your days of hardship are over now, that car must have cost quite a bit."

"So he’s Chuchu’s cousin, is he here for a visit?"

Bai Zhixi wanted to explain but was affectionately pulled by Xiao Bai towards the staircase. She looked up and saw Chuchu about to enter the door, so she muddled through a couple of sentences and hurried up.

She thought to herself that she should quickly give Xiao Bai the pickled cucumbers and have him leave sooner; it’s better not to let this young man co here again, as he’s too much trouble.

As soon as Bai Zhixi entered the house, Wan Chu’er’s room door was closed tightly, thinking her daughter was probably in her own room, she didn’t bother her and politely said to Xiao Bai, "Do you want to drink so water? I only have boiled water here."

It implied that she didn’t have anything special to offer, and that he should politely decline and leave with so pickles.

The house was in disarray, filled with pots and basins of pickles everywhere, reeking of pickles’ scent; it really wasn’t a place to entertain guests.

Who would have thought Xiao Bai wouldn’t play along? He said with a smile, "Auntie, I love drinking boiled water. Just pour a glass, I am actually quite thirsty."

Bai Zhixi laughed and could only let him sit down while she went to the kitchen to pour so water.

Xiao Bai looked around at the pickles with interest, making comnts to Bai Zhixi.

"Auntie, this pickle’s color is different from the ones I’ve eaten."

Bai Zhixi: "Oh, that one needs to be pickled for two more days."

"Hmm, I’ve never had this pickle before."

Bai Zhixi brought out a cup of hot water and quickly appeared, relieved when she saw him, and explained, "This is dehydrated radish, just started pickling yesterday."

Xiao Bai took a deep breath and said comfortably, "It slls good and looks delicious, it must be very crunchy. When it’s ready, Auntie, make sure to send two pounds to Jinghua Hotel."

Bai Zhixi laughed: "Sure, don’t worry."

Xiao Bai then took the hot water and took a sip imdiately.

"Aiya, hot..."

Xiao Bai had already taken a mouthful and his face changed color instantly; he urgently looked for a place to spit it out but found none, with pots and jars of pickles all over the floor. He had no choice but to swallow it down, then he opened his mouth wide, sticking out his tongue and gasping for cool air.

Bai Zhixi felt a bit embarrassed and said, "That’s hot, isn’t it? Let get you a piece of ice."

"Ah, yes, thanks, Auntie."

In the fridge were so milk popsicles made by Wan Chu’er a few days ago. Bai Zhixi thought about it and gave Xiao Bai a popsicle.

Xiao Bai happily accepted it and took a bite, saying, "This tastes really good."

"Chuchu made it; glad you like it."

Xiao Bai raised an eyebrow and joked, "I didn’t expect Chuchu, who always seems to be fierce and aggressive, to make popsicles."

Bai Zhixi looked at her daughter’s tightly closed room door but still, her daughter’s importance prevailed, and she said, "Xiao Bai, Auntie will go get you so pickles, just wait here."

She’d get the pickles and send Xiao Bai away. Chuchu wouldn’t really be angry, would she?

Actually, Wan Chu’er in the room couldn’t care less about the dim-witted child Xiao Bai; she was busy with her howork.

"Sure, Auntie, where are the pickles? Do you need help?" Xiao Bai enthusiastically asked.

Where was the logic in asking guests to help? Bai Zhi quickly waved her hands to refuse; she took a small basin and a pair of chopsticks, then went out.

The jar containing the pickles was stored in the basent, every household in the Glass Factory Family Quarters had been allocated a small basent space.

Seeing Bai Zhixi leave, Xiao Bai glanced at Wan Chu’er’s tightly closed door, shook his head amusingly. This girl, always so sullen by herself, not at all like a blossoming young girl. He looked around the Wan Family’s living room at his leisure.

When he saw a photo hanging on the wall, he walked closer, examining each one in detail.

The first one he saw was a one- or two-year-old baby, dressed in red, with a high ponytail, lips red, teeth white, holding a red apple—absolutely gorgeous, just like the Fuwa from New Year paintings.

You could still make out so of Wan Chu’er in her features.

Xiao Bai couldn’t help but lant, "She was cuter when she was little. If I could have held her when she was this small, unlike now, she’s practically a tigress, untouchable, unapproachable!"
