Li Jia at that table was paying attention to the commotion here, and after hearing Li Guohui’s words to Wan Chu’er, she felt a bit disdainful, thinking Wan Chu’er was putting on an act. Hence, she asked with a smile:
"Wan Chu’er, can you actually understand this book? It looks quite professional, and after all, we’re only freshn. Freshman courses are either public foundational classes or introductory professional courses; it should be quite hard to grasp, right?
I’m not questioning you or anything; I’m just curious, just casually asking."
In the end, she added a needless explanation that made Mai Qiqi laugh.
Before Wan Chu’er could say anything, Mai Qiqi laughed and asked: "How much ti have you all spent in the library during this freshman year? Or how many days a week do you go to the library?"
Li Guohui thought for a mont and said, "I go there three tis a week."
Zhou Weining: "I go about three tis as well."
Li Jia did not answer.
Mai Qiqi asked again, "How many hours can you stay in the library each ti?"
Li Guohui: "It depends on if I have extra ti; if so, I’ll stay for three to four hours. If not, just one to two hours, and most of the ti I leave after borrowing books."
Zhou Weining said with a laugh, "Not too much."
Mai Qiqi huffed, "Wan Chu’er has been going to the library whenever she doesn’t have classes since the first day of school, averaging at least six hours of reading there every day."
"That’s impossible!" Li Jia laughed.
Mai Qiqi glanced at her, "Our daily schedule includes four classes on average, which takes up half a day, leaving the other half. Isn’t that enough for four hours? From six to ten in the evening, isn’t that another four hours? Saying an average of six hours is actually an understatent.
During the first half of her freshman year, she self-studied three programming languages. In her sophomore year, she started self-learning ga developnt, and now she has developed a ga that you will soon see on the market. The na of the ga though, I won’t ntion."
Wan Chu’er was a bit helpless that Mai Qiqi couldn’t resist reacting to provocations; what point was there in competing with Li Jia? She didn’t like her personal matters being under scrutiny.
Hearing Mai Qiqi’s words, Zhou Weining laughed, "I believe in Wan Chu’er’s efforts."
Li Guohui let out an exclamation and after a while sighed, "Ah, that’s too much of a shock. Wan Chu’er, I’ll have to catch up with you in the future."
Wan Chu’er chuckled twice.
Li Jia, not quite accepting it in her heart, said with an awkward face, "Wan Chu’er, you’re truly hardworking. I shouldn’t have doubted you, sorry about that."
Wan Chu’er replied indifferently, "It’s alright, I don’t mind."
Yang Fan in the corner looked at Wan Chu’er, his eyes shifting, and if you looked closely, you could see his brimming interest.
The perception of Wan Chu’er amongst those present changed instantly; soone willing to spend so much ti in the library, enduring the loneliness and tedium of studying, was definitely not just anyone.
At five o’clock in the afternoon, the train arrived at the station.
The group, carrying large and small luggage, exited the station. Mr. Zhang said, "Let’s hang in there a bit longer and take a direct bus to XX County. We’ll have a al and rest there after arriving. We’ll stay overnight at XX County tonight and leave for the mountain village where we’ll be teaching early tomorrow morning."
Li Jia uttered an "Ah" and asked, "Mr. Zhang, where do we take the bus?" Although reluctant, she could not alter the situation, so she complied and accepted the instructions to make a good impression.
Mr. Zhang said, "Walk two hundred ters east, and you’ll see the bus. Let’s walk and stretch our legs."
Li Guohui laughed, "Yeah, after sitting on the train for six hours, my legs are about to stiffen up."
The group of eight quickly found a bus picking up passengers by the roadside. After much effort, they finally got all the luggage on board, and everyone boarded the bus.
